Worst mistake of a 30-day trip to Europe with my granddaughters. Never will book again thru monastery stays.com. The selection process is laborious and requires a deposit that IS NOT refundable, but can be applied to another accommodation. The location is good, but the nuns lock everything at 9:00 pm, with a posted a curfew of 11:45 with key. They were unable to issue more than one key for three guests who had separate schedules. Very limited English. No phone service regardless of situation -- must make calls from pay phone a block away. Very limited to no information available re: nearby amenities or directions. Beds and pillows hard as rocks; meager breakfast served across the street: one pastry and one drink. NO Air Conditioning and lots of street noise. Very uncomfortable stay! Internet connection sporadic and insecure with iPhones. More

In October we spent a wonderful 5 days in Rome and we stayed at Casa per ferie Margherita Caiani. This place is awesome, we had a large room with private bathroom in a great neighborhood only 300 metres from the Vatican. The Sisters who run this place are amazing, warm and most welcoming. We felt at home at this place. The sisters arranged for a taxi driver they know to take us to the airport at a fixed price and he arrived on time to pick us up and get us to the airport.
There is a 10.30pm curfew which never bothered us as a full day in Rome walking everywhere is quite exhausting. There are places to eat all around the area and all we tried were excellent.
If you are after a happy, safe, clean and welcoming place at a good price and you can deal with the curfew then this is the place for you.

Staying in Prati

Neighborhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
