We found the Virgilio very clean and the breakfast was of above average. The room was quite and the hotel is based in a side street but only a few minutes walk from most places of interest. We would certainly stay there again.

We stayed here for two nights and found location excellent, close to restaurants and main attractions. The hotel itself is in quiet area off via Nazionale about 10 mins from the Main Train Station. The facilities were adequate for a three star although there was constant noise on the third floor where we stayed. The staff were efficient although a... More

We stayed at Virgilio Jan 2005. Excellent location. Hotel small but well decorated & spotless. Dining room again small but adequate & spotless. Bedroom well appointed but a bit on the dark side because of the on suite bathroom, also couldn't open window or raise blinds, but have to say that is our only complaint. Suffice to say that we... I and my mother stayed at the hotel in November 2003 for two nights. The hotel is a good 3 star hotel: spacious room and bathroom, everything very clean, normal breakfast (according to Italian standards). The location is not bad: approximately half way between Termini and the Roman Forum. We stayed in November and it was quite cold in the... More

While in Rome, my husband and I and his daughter and her husband stayed at the Hotel Virgilio. I booked this hotel because of the good reviews I saw on Trip Advisor. While looking to book hotels in Rome, the prices were very high. Hotel Virgilio was a moderately priced hotel that gave better than average service and was very... More

We stayed 28th march 2005 for 2 nights, the week of the Pope's death. We had a twin room with nice, clean and comfortable beds. It was a strange thing that the room was in good order except two pieces of cornice on the ceiling were missing, the bedside light was hanging off the wall and the bed settee in... More

We stayed here for 5 nights in September 2004 and recommend it highly. As mentioned in other reviews, the location is excellent -- only a block from a main street and buses, or an easy walk to the main train/bus station. On a side street that is pleasant and quiet, though the rooms (ours faced the street) are well insulated... More

We just returned from our trip to Rome and enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Virgilio. The location was good. Not particularly close to anything but centrally located and only about a 15 - 20 minute walk to most everything. We saved almost E 400 staying here vs in Piazza Novana or Pantheon so it was definitely worth the walk.... More

Quiet and peaceful and yet very close to the main Nationale ( handy for buses), comfortable and clean rooms, has just been refurbished. They were finishing off tiling the floor when we were there. the only gripes we had were the breakfast was very basic and a very small bar. Try the Dolci & Dolcezze just up the road for... More

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
