We traveled as a family of 4. The room we had was large. The room was decorated nicely. The hotel looks like they recently did some renovations. It was as advertised. They had a breakfest buffet that was good (except for the coffee). The coffee machine was high tech, just made bad coffee. Staff was helpfull. Location is good. I... More

Very clean, helpful staff, Great location! There is an elevator, very small but appreciated, we did have to drag our suitcases up a small flight of stairs though. Not all hotels have elevators here. The front desk is in a doorway to the right of the building entrance, a bit confusing. We were sent to a nice restaurant with a... More

We were a bit flummoxed by the reception being in a separate building to the hotel next door, and we have never been in a 'shared' hotel environment before, but it was incredibly secure and safe. When we arrived we went to our floor but the entry keys didn't work. A chap was sorting out the breakfast area, but heard... More

Great location near the train station. Had high hopes for this hotel but the elevator is unreliable and the air conditioning is spotty. We had 3 rooms reserved...some were very nice and some were not nice (in need of renovation). Breakfast is second rate. Shower had alternating scalding and freezing water (we were on top floor).

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and it is well placed. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the main train station and metro station. Upon arriving we were left a little confused to the unual reception as it is nextdoor to the hotel. The room we booked was on the small side but suited... More

...once we figure out where it actually was. We wondered lost and confused the first night because this hotel is tucked back out of the way. Once we got our Roman barring's, it was no problem. The bed was very hard and made my hips hurt but the room was clean. The breakfast was adequate.

We needed a hotel for one night close to the station. Three couples stayed and all thought it was good. Well modernised with smart new bathrooms. It was quiet and the bed was comfortable. A good three star in convenient location. The room was spacious. We didn't really have an outlook but as we arrived late and left early it... More

My company booked it for me but i warn you: stay away from this place. Arrived in a very hot day and i entered the very small reception which is OUTSIDE the hoStel (you can't call that a hotel). Dear TheHound12 we are very sad you had such a troubled experience in our hotel. My daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights. We had stayed at the Hotel Diocleziano for 3 nights earlier that week, but wanted to try more than 1 hotel. We much preferred Hotel Diocleziano. Hotel Selene had very dark walls and felt dreary. The street noise was fairly loud. We had to carry our own bags up a flight... More

The personnel are quick to help in any way and amazingly helpful about suggestions for places to eat, including offering the best place for gelato in Italy!! The rooms were clean and updated with the best wifi we experienced in Italy during our two week visit.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
