Hotel Colosseum, a magnificent terrace overlooking Rome... Welcome to Hotel Colosseum. You are in the characteristic Rione Monti, one of the oldest and most picturesque neighbourhoods of the "Eternal City", in the peaceful and quiet Via Sforza, at n°10. Thanks to our exclusive location, in the centre of Monumental Rome, you will have the opportunity to visit the main tourist attractions on foot. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel, you will find the Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore, the Colosseum and the Domus Aurea. Crossing Via Cavour will take you to Via Urbana. Called "Vicus Patricius" in antiquity, it is remembered above all for the visits, which tradition claims were made by St. Peter to the house of a Christian senator here. A short, scenic walk along the streets of Rome will also take you to the Imperial Fora and the Church of S. Pietro in Vincoli, which houses Michelangelo's famous statue of Moses. Hotel Colosseum is located at one of the highest points of Esquiline Hill and provides a 360° panoramic view of Rome and its surroundings from a splendid, furnished terrace on the eighth floor of the building, where the guests can enjoy the view while savouring a drink from our bar. All the rooms and common areas of the hotel have Wi-Fi coverage. An internet point is also available for use. At the reception, you can get information about all means of travelling through the city (taxi and bus services, car, scooter and bicycle rentals) and about guided tours. The stops of numerous city buses are a few meters from Hotel Colosseum and the "Cavour" (Line B) metro stop is about 3 minutes away on foot. The Termini railway station is 700 meters away. The hotel is situated in the historical centre of Rome, outside the limited traffic zone (ZTL); therefore, it is possible to get to us by car and park in the nearby partner garage. Otherwise, it is possible to book our fixed-price transfer and airport pick-up/drop-off service.

We stayed here for three nights to celebrate a special birthday and found the location was good for several attractions. It is located about a 10 minute walk down a side street from Roma termini railway station. The reception is small though staff are extremely helpful and there is a 4 person lift nearby to reach the upper floors.
The rooms are basic furnishings with enough hanging space for a few nights stay and there is a t.v. Toilet and shower facilities are separate with some toiletries provided and there are enough power points available.
Self serve breakfast is varied with both hot and cold foods, fruit, cereals and a selection of bread and cakes there are also juices and hot drinks.
Daily room service was provided.
The roof top bar was not open during our stay but some open aspects of the Eternal City could be had from here.
I would rate this establishment 2 star overall but if you are merely looking for a base to explore Rome then you may consider this hotel. Don't forget about the City Tax when you check-out!

Dear Skotia, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay. It was truly a pleasure to know that you enjoyed so much of your stay and that you found our location to be so convenient. We are proud of the high level of personal service we offer, so it is especially rewarding to receive your positive feedback about our team members. Thank you for mentioning your room's comfort and amenities. Please allow us to clarify that our terrace bar is open from March to November. During the months the bar is closed, you may still use the outside phone to order drinks from the Hall Bar, which will then be brought to you on the terrace by our team so you can enjoy your beverage and the stunning views of the Eternal City. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Best wishes for the coming year, Mr Stefano Ricci, General Manager

Really enjoyed this hotel. Great welcome which made us feel at home straight away. Showed us the key attractions on the map to help us get our bearings.

Communications were great, with all staff speaking some English. I appreciated the frequent emails of welcome and support throughout our stay too.

Room was lovely and quiet as requested on 7th floor, so we had a lovely view across the rooftops of Rome.

Very good anti covid processes, sanitiser, separation etc.

Simple but well managed buffet break fast, with buffet served to us, and dishes refreshed throughout service.

Lovely rooftop bar for cocktails from 4.30pm to 10.30pm each night.

Our room was serviced each day which was a nice surprise. (A lot of hotels only service on request now).  Leave your key with reception each time you leave, this helps their fire and evacuation process in the event of emergency but also will let them know when it is safe to enter your room to service it. There is always someone on reception so no worries there.

Comfortable bed. Plenty of hot water for showering.

There is a safe in the wall with a key which is free to use.

Wardrobe with plenty of hangers, but not much storage for undies. Small price to pay for an otherwise excellent hotel.

We recently traveled to Rome with our 3 adult children (early 20s) and found the Hotel Colosseum on the internet while planning our trip. The staff was immediately responsive to all email inquiries about the property, amenities, and coordination of activities for which we sought assistance. Upon arrival in the early afternoon, our rooms were ready before the check-in time and the staff continued to be helpful with whatever questions we had - restaurant recommendations, taxi and other transportation needs, money exchange, Covid travel testing, etc. The front desk was staffed 24 hours a day.
The location was relatively close to the train station and a variety of attractions and provided easy access but was not on a main thoroughfare so remained quiet. We had two rooms and the triple room, a rare find, was a perfect option for our family. North Americans may find the rooms and bathrooms small but they are ample by European standards.
The on-site breakfast provided a variety of tasty options and great convenience. This hotel is small but clean and had everything we needed. It was a good value for the amenities and services.

This Hotel is in a narrow side street, the road outside is very uneven graffiti on the wall across the road and poorly light. At each end on the road is either very steep steps near a stip club or a very steep hill and slippery when wet! This quiet back street (check goggle maps) is woken by the bugle call from the opposite barracks. The hotel is 8mins from the Colosseum by taxi cost 8 euro, Trevi fountain 10 mins by taxi 9 euro, airport 40 mins 56 euros by hotel private taxi. From reception there are steps in every direction ie breakfast or bar. The hotel has no restaurant and breakfast is basic. The balcony room very dated drawers broken and handles missing, the floor was dirty and dusty.
I don't know what previous guest experience rated this hotels standards by, but definitely this hotel does not attain the 3 star rating.

Dear Guest Lady F, thank you for writing us. I remain surprised to read your review, seems you are describing another hotel. But we are here since 1969. Usually the clients write that we are in a quiet street near the Colosseum and the Church of st. Mary Major.Located in the famous Monti District, full of restaurants, cafè, artisan shops. They write about the view from our rooftop bar and from the great service they receive from our staff. What make me worried, is that you are considering the experience of the previous guests, hundred of guests that gave us 5 stars reviews, like they wrote a not intelligent reviews. By the way: Rome was founded on 7 hills, so it's normal that you find downhill roads, that are made with the famous "sanpietrini" or cobble stones. This is how is made Rome, not the Hotel Colosseum. Despite the international crisis caused from the virus, we are still open and giving the best service to all our clients that are staying in our hotel in this moment, and to the next customers that will come in Rome.Like always. Kind regards Stefano Ricci Hotel Colosseum

Great location, easy to locate, friendly and welcoming staff. The breakfast was really good with plenty to choose from.

The rooms were very clean and comfortable, shower cubicle was a little bit on the small sideand very close to the sink, we were placed a towel over edge of sink so the shower door and sink didnt meet.

Would definatley recomend and would stay there again.

Arrived 1st March for a 4 night stay booked 2 rooms as we had youngest son with us. Very warm welcome from Diago who, like all the staff, was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel is down the street dead opposite from the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore and a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Colosseum, and yes you can see the Colosseum from the hotel rooftop terrace and bar.
The hotel is bright and airy with the breakfast area just through the reception. A word to mention that if you are a wheelchair user there are 2 steps to negotiate from the reception desk to the lifts and the breakfast room.
Both our room and our sons room were comfortable a little small but hey you only sleep in the room so no need for a huge area to run a round in. The bed was comfy and bathroom well appointed with a great shower. Our son did mention that the loo paper holder was a little awkward to get to in his room but so what that was his problem. The breakfast was good but as they do breakfast we were recommended to a restaurant close by for dinner so watch for the review of that.
Only complaint was that the soundproofing was poor as you could hear peoples conversation 2 rooms away.
We would use this hotel again no problem.

Centrally located down a side street within 10 minutes walk of the Colosseum and with a view of it from the roof terrace. A couple of restaurants at the top of the street and more down the hill within 5 minutes.

The train and bus terminus is a couple of blocks away and from there you can get the underground to a lot of the sites or pick up one of the hop on hop off tourist buses which does a 1.5 hour tour around the city for 22 euros and well worth it for getting your bearings.

The room was adequate and as expected for a city center. We asked for and received a high floor but no balcony as there are only a couple, but the room had large windows which opened which was almost as good,

The breakfast was better than expected with scrambled eggs, bacon and small sausages, toast and all the usual continental fare. You went up to the buffet (with mask on) and one of the waitresses served your food.

The roof terrace was an added bonus as you could sit out and catch some sun in the afternoon after site seeing and there was a bar which opened at 6 pm. Unfortunately due to inclement weather it was only open 1 night when we were there.

All in all a great base to see the city and we would stay there again, if in Rome.

We arrived early after an overnight flight. The hotel has a luggage storage room where we were able to drop all our bags before going out for food & Covid tests. Also thankfully, there is a restroom in the lobby. The desk staff was very helpful with information and a city map. The recommended pharmacy and restaurant were not a far walk. Upon our return, we were able to go to our room an hour early which we greatly appreciated, being so tired. The elevator is very small so our luggage was brought up after us (3 adults). The room with 3 single beds was sufficient but a bit tight with all our luggage. We managed well enough for our 2 nights nights though. That first afternoon we went up to enjoy the view from the rooftop. At that time of day it was a quiet spot to relax for a while. In the morning they had a nice breakfast with attentive service, but I did miss my oatmeal. On the day we left, 2 of us took some luggage down when we went for breakfast, stashing it in the storage room. Last person down took another suitcase, and our accessory luggage went with us going down for check out. That is how we handled the small elevator. You can't expect an old historical building in old Rome to be equivalent to a modern hotel, but a friendly staff, cleanliness and location are more important than missing some modern convenience (like a larger elevator).

It is pleasing to know that you appreciated the uniqueness of our building, we truly are delighted to be surrounded by such a historic landmark. We are, however, sorry that you were a little disappointed with the size of your room and although all our rooms are the same size, many of our guests find them to be cosy. We stayed in this hotel twice; first on our arrival in Rome for four days and upon our return to Italy after a trip to Greece. Booking reservations through their website was easy, emails were responded to quickly and fortunately for me their English is excellent. The staff is polite, professional, very helpful and accomodating; arranging transport for us, suggesting restaurants, and making dinner reservations for a large party. Hotel location is central and located on a small street/alley away from the noise and congestion and noise of the main streets. Beds were comfortable, we slept well and we thoroughly enjoyed watching sunset over the city from the rooftop deck. I will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Rome.

There is a luggage store as we left our cases there on the morning of our departure. I do not know whether they would be willing to keep bags overnight but just email them, they are extremely helpful and replied to my queries very quickly. The staff are really lovely.
