We visited Rome September weekend 2010. We got the bus from the airport which wasnt the best idea as the queue was long and is maybe only 25euro in a taxi. We struggled to find the hotel entrance initaially, however, only 5 min walk from Republica Train Station. The hotel is in a great location, loads of restaurants and cafes/bars...

When I visited in April 2010, there was no lift to assist with baggage, the shower was clogged, I provided my own soap and toilet paper, I was bitten by bed bugs and the light would switch off periodically during use which was quite annoying. Noise from the other rooms was not much of a bother to me once I...

I did a fair bit of research before selecting Planet 29 as my friends and I were on a budget and Rome's city centre is not a budget destination really. You are going on faith a little when you select a 3 star hotel as it's not going to have the bells and whistles that Americans are used to in...

We have had a lovely stay in Planet 29 on our Honeymoon. The staff are great and very accommodating, the room very large and airy, clean and cool in the hot weather. Shared bathroom was no problem at all and it was also very clean with a great shower! Great location to train station, bus stops, metro and for sightseeing...

I stayed at Planet29 in October. We stayed in a room facing the street, it was a four bed room and we only payed for a two bed room, which was great, TV worked, Italian only except CNN. Good location and really friendly staff. We were able to walk to all tourist attractions and only needed to catch the train to the Vatican. A warning about the hot water system... the system must be in the basement so don't be worried the heat has run out just let the water run for a few minutes longer than you...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
