We stayed at Hotel Dei Consoli for 4 nights. Just left on today. Typical small quarters.?However, the shower was very small even for a hotel room. The shower head was in great need of descaling. I’ve never seen that in a hotel shower before. They had a old green blanket in the closet, that we refused to use! It looked like it was a cat’s blanket. Breakfast was just ok. Good location not far from the Vatican. Plenty of shops within walking distance. Be prepared to pay the tourist tax of 7.50 euros per person.

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a fantastic experience. The reception staff are extremely friendly and the rooms are super clean. The location is perfect and exactly as described. Breakfast is good but a little bit more variety would definitely help to improve the overall experience. The staff serving breakfast each morning are friendly and attentive. No complaints and would definitely consider staying here again in the future. 🌈 friendly

Everything you can expect for a 4* hotel. But the very best was breakfast staff (Massimiliano, Mirella… were the loveliest) and the quality of the products you get there. If you are staying for a week, bear in mind the rooms are a bit small and most don’t have a balcony. I’ll go back again!

The hotel is situated near the Vatican and although on the Main Street the entrance is down a side street. Check in was good and we were told that we had to hand the key back to the desk whenever we left the hotel. This was not a problem at first but became a bind after a couple of days. My wife unfortunately had an attack of Vertigo and could not leave the room for the first 24 hours. After explaining this to Reception no offer of help was forthcoming, not even a cursory “how is your wife feeling?” nothing. The room itself was basic and the weird smell of the carpets like a plastic smell took a bit of getting used to. My wife and I work in the industry and the last thing we want to do is start to complain, we just got on with it. We only had breakfast twice whilst we were there and if you like warm bread and orange juice from a machine then you’ll be in your element. There was a big deal made about what croissant you would like for breakfast, not sure why weren’t even served warm. Would I come back? This hotel was recommended to us by a family member - I think there are better quality hotels about for the same price.

Nowhere near 4*.Great location close to the Vatican but could use lot of renovations. We were put in very smelly room, we did not sleep all night, in the morning I phoned Expedia so they can contact the hotel and either to change the room or refund and I would go elsewhere. They phoned me back and said the receptionist agreed to change the room. The receptionist Robin was very rude, he lacks customer services skills, he said he did not agree to the change and if we wish we can upgrade to a suit and pay the difference. We contacted Expedia again and insisted that we need refund and wish to leave, Robin then came up with another room in all fairness was better but the shower does not work properly( At least there was no smell). The positive from this stay is the man in the café( Breakfast) he was very polite, and he will always ask you if you need anything else, the rest of the staff were also polite and courteous. Only Robin that seems to have issues with guests and does not understand that they are paying customers and he would not have a job if there were no guests.

Stayed at this hotel for a month and it was a very comfortable stay. Staff very welcoming and very clean and tidy, bed very comfortable. Very close to the vatican and metro line with plenty of places to eat nearby. Would definitely recommend and won't hesitate to book again when next in Rome

Very nice location if you're visiting the Vatican. It's a nice walk to the other tourist attractions in Rome or just a couple of blocks to the metro. The room was small but nice. Ours had a peculiar odor, almost like fresh carpet or something similar. The AC was on when we arrived on a very warm day, so that was quite welcome. Our disappointment began at breakfast the first morning. There were a few empty plates on the buffet, and we saw someone take the last croissant. We asked if there were more croissants and were told they were out. However, just a couple of minutes later, they brought croissants to the tables for 2 different guests. So, obviously they had some more. We were part of a Rick Steves tour. Our tour director asked and was told that the tour members could not get the croissants. So, we were being treated differently for some reason. The second day, breakfast was even more minimal. When we checked out, we were asked 3 times (Three Times!) if we had taken anything from the minibar. It took quite a while to check out. We felt as it they didn't believe us. By central Rome standards, the hotel was ok, but I would not stay there again.

Dear Pam, we appreciate your review regarding the central position of the hotel and the attention at your check-in time after a long trip. Regarding your disappointment for breakfast we do sincerely apologize with you and your family member. From what you say, it is clear that the service did not work properly and it did not act according to ordinary diligence and according to property directions. We agree with your point that everything should work always properly and particularly at top service level. We want to say that we had an internal clarification step with our personnel regarding breakfast (and also check-out) approach for all customers and we have also requested our providers and partners to support our wish to provide an excellent service. Considering our fault it would be the minimum for us to host you for free during your next travel to Rome. Kind regards, Consoli Family

Perfect place for a hotel, one block to the taxi stand, restaurants around every corner, and a few blocks from the Vatican. Couldn't ask for a nicer staff and clean, comfortable rooms. Laura helped us with anything we needed, and spoke very good english.
