The location is great and this is the only real plus. The room I got was very basic, smelling like smoke (the bed cover had even a cigarette burn). Mattress and pillow (luckily i had my own) were very hard. The room was at the ground floor facing the hotel lounge. As result there were people outside my window making all kind of noises. Breakfast was very basic as well. Sure price was kind of cheap but if you look at the cost/quality ratio you will still be disappointed
My friend booked me a room here for one night when I arrived in Roma. After being tired from jet lag and long distance travel, the Astoria Garden was a welcome oasis. The front desk staff was kind and accommodating, I especially loved the garden and spent a lot of time there. My room was small but it had a wonderful balcony overlooking the garden. Breakfast was buffet style with lots of choices. My favorite thing was the unlimited supply of cappuccino from the machine. The hotel location and price were just right considering that rates in ROMA are outrageous. For some reason on the one night I was there the rates were not so bad, and I'm grateful to my friend for booking a room for me here.
A big disappointment at the price we paid we thought it was a 3-4 star. More kind 1-2 star Would not wish it on anyone. Garden breakfast may sound romantic but lots of pigeons harass you. Staff friendly but simply give lip service. Breakfast was stodgy and cut melon must have been sitting there overnight covered. Definitely a disappointment with stodgy choices. Lots of cut bread open to air and prone to coughing clients. There seem a few people coughing and may reflect the air conditioning system Safe not working Decor peeling off and in a time shell of the 1970-80s Not again sadly Good luck
Stayed here for a few nights with my father recently. Room was cramped (as is often the case in Rome) but whilst we expected this to be the case, there was barely any room to walk around the bed without bumping into some other piece of furniture(!) The amenities in the room worked fine but a very small bathroom with little room for 2 people to manage with it comfortably. It look as if some renovations were being done to the hotel which manifested in dirtyish carpets on the stairs. The other major minus point was the Wifi was almost non-existent during out stay. To be fair, breakfast was good and plentiful in a nice little garden patio at the back of the hotel but it lacked ambience due to the lack of people. We ended up moving to another hotel for the remainder of our stay.
Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I’ve stayed in better hostels. No hot water, no WiFi, no air conditioning, dirty towels, used plaster left in shower. Didn’t get what we ordered for breakfast. After checkout we asked them to look after our bags for a few hours they said they would put them somewhere safe but they were left in the lobby where anyone could have walked away with them!
we stayed 3 nights here in nov 19. like all of rome there's little hotels everywhere. this one had 4 on one block. we had a room 115 and it was basic, two twins together, clean white sheets, firm but not uncomfortable mattress, decent storage but no mini fridge. had a/c and heat which might be rare. we didn't use either. bath was kinda small, shower fine but toilet area cramped. room always cleaned daily and we got the breakfast which was great. scrambled eggs were always cold but good taste. hard boiled eggs, meats, pastries, yogurt, cheeses, bread. could always eat enough to skip lunch. coffee machine sucked though. only warm and thin flavor. there is a full service mini bar where we'd get ice for our drinks but looked like they had every liquor. had a proper espresso machine there too. patio is very nice. only down side was wifi wouldn't work in the room. our room was on the corner and couldn't get there i guess. go to reception or patio and worked great though. place across the street is all graffiti up, but it's everywhere, we didn't feel unsafe at any time. walk from termini is like nothing and metro station that's not termini is even closer. same for lots of food and grocery stores. if you want an inexpensive place to stay and you're not going to "live" in it, this works. not 5 stars only because it's not a high end place. but i would definitely recommend and/or stay again.…
Yes the place is old but it’s clean at a great price with a fantastic staff. Comes with breakfast. Best of all it’s in a phenomenal location. 5 min from Termini station. Walking it’s 15 min to Trevi fountain 35 to Colosseum, good neighborhood with lots of great restaurants to choose from. Imagine if the owner painted some walls, put in new mattresses, bedding, curtains & decor-the current ones are probably from 1970, well he’d want to charge more too now wouldn’t he? And why are you in Rome? Not for the room but for the city.
The staff very helpful, friendly. Room was good,, clean, but no fridge. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, The scramble egg's, ham were cold, the bread didn't taste fresh. and the cheese-cold meats were'nt on a cooler, Nice seating area outside. would stay here again.
I am posting photos. One of the view from my room. The other two the walls. This room was beyond disgusting. It smelled so bad that I had a difficult time breathing. Booked it after reading other reviews on here. They have to be fake because I wouldn't let my dog sleep in this place.
Nice staff. Comfortable room though not very big. Decent breakfast included. Location is great being so close to Termini station. I'd imagine that the garden area would be a great asset in warmer weather. Would stay again. Nice simple bar facility too.
