I booked a stay with Hotel Nazionale We arrived approximately 4am and we were dead tired after our flights. They were quick to ask for our passports and credit cards a great way to welcome new guests. Then we were given the wrong key for our room took us five minutes Of frustration before going back down to the front desk to find a solution. Without a blink of an eye he activated our new key cards and sent us off without so much as a I m so sorry for the mistake. Well what happened next was infathomable. We got a bit of sleep and by 10 am we were out the door to explore Rome the cleaning person had her cart by our door we said goodbye to her as we were leaving thinking she was going to clean our room. When we got back to our room ar 4pm we were surprised as nothing was done at all. This is when we met Chiara.I believe her name is. She would not give us her full name for whatever reasons ???. She proceeded to.tell me I left the do not disturb sign outside the door. I told her we never touched the do not disturb sign. It lay inside on the wall. She then proceeded to tell me I left the card key in the slot inside the room and that the light outside was red indicating that we were in the room I told her we had both key cards with us when we left the room. She then told us that they only make up the room.once and because it was made up before we arrived at4am that it was not going to be made up again. Now I was frustrated again how do you deal with the mind of such a person who thinks this way. Miss Chiara as she calls herself came up with 4 different reasons why our room could not be made up . WOW !!!! What Incredible Customer Service Is this Hotel Nazionale CUSTOMERS SERVICE. ?? Another employee by the name of Greg or Gregory I belive was also listening on he had one of the staff the bell boy i belive a nice guy go up and bring us new towels i could not belive thats all they would do!!! I voiced my complaint again and they had the bell boy bring us new coffee cups etc etc and he made the bed up he did what he could. He was nice and as thorough as he could be. Chiara kept denying it was not their responsibility that the room was not made up How in the world was she in this position I will never know. I did have to see Chiara once again as they only left one bathrobe in the room and I did not want to fight with my wife over it. Chiara did send up another bathrobe so you see she does have certain customer service talents. I'm 68 years old been to one or two hotels in my life never met someone like Chiara who ruined our stay and frustrated our days here at Hotel Nazionale Not something I would look.forward to again so I booked another hotel when we are returning to Rome in two weeks. Hopefully there will be no one like Chiara.

Dear Kawagamajoe, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback from your recent stay with us at the Nazionale Hotel. I was deeply concerned to read your review and see that your stay was far less than satisfactory. As you can see from other traveller reviews, this certainly isn't the usual experience our guests enjoy when staying with us. Please rest assured that this has been raised with the team and will be dealt with internally to ensure this won't happen again. Should you wish to give the Nazionale Hotel another opportunity to make your stay a great one, I would very much like to hear from you and would take care of your booking personally. Warm regards, Roberta Liberati Front Office Manager

We absolutely loved this hotel. The room was small but very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and we slept very well. The hotel is centrally located to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and lots of great shopping. The breakfast was small but very good.

Booked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews and it didn’t disappoint! The location was excellent- at most a 40 minute walk from the furthest attraction. The hotel and rooms were extremely clean and the bath products they provide were great. We really enjoyed the breakfast, especially the cappuccinos and pastry. This hotel was a bit pricer but worth the money for the comfort and location. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to rome.

I found this Hotel recommendation in a Rick Steves guidebook (and even got a discount using his code). It did not disappoint! The location is excellent - literally within short walk of the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona. Everything you could possibly want. But even better than that was the great experience in the hotel itself. Wonderful service at breakfast, the front desk upgraded us when we told them it was our 35th wedding anniversary, the room was super comfortable, air conditioning great (crucial in August). Really don’t have any complaints at all. I def plan to go back if I’m ever in Rome! Would highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel, reception staff amongst the most helpful we’ve ever met, arranged transportation from the airport to the hotel , which was on time and with a clean car and friendly driver. Speedy check in which was very thorough, which was great as it meant we could start exploring on our 1trip to Rome. Beautiful room, huge with plenty of storage and a bathroom that was no less impressive and the view WOW, over a beautiful quite square. We had B&B and breakfast is not to be missed. The dining room has beautiful tiled floors and good range of continental delights to try and the friendliest staff ever who make what is probably the best cappuccino in Rome. The hotel has a beautiful old world charm about it, and you feel you’ve stepped back into a very regal world- beautiful bar with old photos displayed, one of which is Marlon Brando who stayed there previously. Within walking distance of a few historical sights and set in a lively inviting area with some fantastic restaurants and gelato shops. We loved it so much we are going to book again for next year

Rick Steves recommends Hotel Nazionale so we gave it a try. It’s pricier than others but the location cannot be beat. The building is very very old and historic. It is on a square so there is little traffic in front of the building - sometimes they allow taxis to pick up and drop off - this choice is up to the police who monitor the square because the building adjacent is the Italian Parliament. Warning - they do not turn on the air conditioning till mid-May. We did not know this in advance. I asked for a fan which was a lifesaver. The windows, no screens, open and the fan made for an ok temp in the room. The pictures are accurate, old furniture, lots of bright colors. Our bed was fine, sheets crisp and clean. There was a loveseat in our room that, instead of sitting, became a staging area for our clothes and bags - if you tried to sit on it, it sunk way down. The room and bathroom were very clean. Staff were fine. We didn’t ask for much. We gave the bar tender a tip each night in exchange for ice in my water bottle - a good deal for me. Breakfast staff were fine. Breakfast itself was a fairly good size buffet with several choices available. The hotel front has a piazza, a porch - good benches to sit and watch loads of people walk by. We ate some meals here , very pleasant, quite nice. There were the same groups of people who walked by - people in business suits (Parliament) , police officers (Parliament, again) and people eating amazing ice creams that came from just around the corner, one of the most famous and good ice cream shops in Rome. Home run! Hotel Nazionale is quite well located - we walked easily to: the Pantheon, Trevi Foundtain, Fountain of 4 rivers, lots of restaurants, lots of shopping, I am not a big walker. I used my hiking poles and went slowly but I made it. Tiny elevator that holds 2 people.

Because the hotel is next to the parliament building there is police everywhere. Therefore you feel very safe at all times of the day and night anywhere near the hotel and even surrounding area. The hotel dont allow cars on square in front of hotel so its very quite at night. Just be aware calling a can or uber is a little tricky because of this. Rather than setting your pick up point at the hotel we found making it the restaurant “Giolitti” around the corner less confusing for the drivers. Otherwise the drivers will attempt to pick you up at 1 of either of the 2 sides of the square. Neither of which is visible from the hotel lobby. Breakfast was amazing. Lots of fresh choices with scrambled eggs, bacon, cereal fruits , yogurt, juices etc. Very friendly staff. Fantastic restaurants less than a block away. Pantheon is less than 5 minutes walk. Rooms very clean. Good free wifi

We booked this hotel due to another review that said it was so safe being metres away from the Italian Parliament and within a guarded pedestrian area. It did not disappoint with a clean, quiet room overlooking the square. The customer service is fantastic. We had breakfast included with every kind of taste catered for. It is also perfectly placed for all the must see tourist stops such as Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. Our room faced the square with a comfy bed and shower. We would stay again especially as one of the best ice cream bars, for which Rome is famous, is just across the square.
