WE HAD THE MOST HORRIBLE ROOM IN THE HOTEL CICERONE, ROME, AND WE HAVE TRAVELLED FOR MANY YEARS TO VARIOUS PLACES AROUND THE WORLD!!! WELL IN ADVANCE WE PAID OVER 400 DOLLARS FOR A BASIC ROOM TO USE BEFORE WE BEGAN OUR TRAFALGAR TOUR BOOKING THE NEXT DAY. WITH FLIGHT DELAYS FROM CANADA TO ROME WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL CLOSE TO MIDNIGHT. THE NIGHT CLERK WAS INCOMPETENT, TAKING A LONG TIME TO FIND OUR BOOKING, EVEN WITH OUR PAPER COPY IN HAND. TURNS OUT HE ALSO TOLD US THE WRONG ROOM TO GO TO FOR BREAKFAST . WHEN WE GOT TO OUR ROOM WE WERE HORRIFIED. THE INTERIOR WAS SHABBY. THE HIGH WINDOW HAD A VIEW OF THE STREET AND CONSTRUCTION ACROSS THE WAY. MY HUSBAND IS A LARGE 6 FOOT MAN AND THE BEDS WERE SO TINY THEY WERE CHILD SIZE, SMALLER THAN STANDARD 'TWIN'. HALF OF THE BATHROOM PLUMBING DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. WHEN I WENT TO RECEPTION TO SAY WE WERE VERY UNHAPPY AND WANTED ANOTHER ROOM, I WAS TOLD 'NO'. THE NEXT MORNING WE HAD TO CHECK OUT TO BE RE-BOOKED TO A 'TRAFALGAR TOUR' ROOM. WHEN WE COMPLAINED TO THE DAY CLERK ABOUT THE ROOM HE SHRUGGED IT OFF. AS OUR TRAVEL AGENT HAD BOOKED OUR FIRST NIGHT USING A BOOKING SERVICE, SHE AND HER CONTACT HAD EMAILED THE HOTEL AFTER WE RETURNED HOME. AFTER MANY WEEKS, SHE RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM THE HOTEL SAYING NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE GIVEN FOR THE AWFUL ROOM. THEY SAID THEY WANTED PHOTOS. WE WERE SO EXTREMELY TIRED WE DID NOT THINK ABOUT PHOTOS. WHY WOULD WE NEED THEM WHEN THE HOTEL HAD OUR ROOM DETAILS IN THEIR COMPUTER? MANAGEMENT ALSO SAID THERE WERE NO COMPLAINTS ON FILE. OF COURSE NO ONE AT THE FRONT DESK MADE NOTES. WHEN OUR TOUR BEGAN ALL WAS RUSHED AND WE HAD NO TIME TO SPEND WAITING ABOUT AT RECEPTION TO SPEAK WITH A MANAGER, IF ONE WAS AVAILABLE. AT HOME I COULD NOT FIND A CONTACT EMAIL FOR HOTEL MANAGEMENT. SO OUR ADVICE IS "DON'T TAKE A CHANCE ON THE CICERONE!!!"

This hotel was selected by the travel company. It's a Hilton that needs HELP. While the front desk was helpful, there are absolutely no amenities. There is NO dining room or bar. If you're traveling with a group, you'll get a normal buffet breakfast, but don't bother booking it as an individual. Our room was fine - good mattress, etc... but the shower/tub was filthy with mold. Thankfully it was just a one night event.

We somehow didn't expect much from the hotel before we visited it after reading the previous reviews. But we were still surprised how terrible the hotel really was in the end. We didn't expect the hotel to be comparable to a 4-star hotel in other countries, but we were very disappointed by the service, but especially by the sheer awful rooms. For the price we paid, it was simply unacceptable and we felt robbed. The hotel is in a very good location in the middle of the city. This was a big plus for us as we could easily reach all the sights on foot. However, this does not make up for the fact that the windows are so thin that it is almost as if we had pitched our tent on the side of the road. It was incredibly noisy all day and all night. We didn't have one night of decent sleep. On top of that, the hotel is in a really sad state. We appreciate old buildings and old decor, but what we found here were sagging mattresses and torn curtains. These things are so easily fixed that you almost feel they were left that way out of sheer ignorance. Don't be fooled by the good location. I would not recommend staying here.

Very poor customer service! Had to switch rooms 3 times due to mechanical issues and cleanliness. The last room had a slow water leak onto the bathroom floor. The process of trying to correct the issues and move rooms took over 2 hours and we had to stand at the front desk to get any response. The management was conveniently “not available” and I was told I could not have their name or email. The employee at the desk when I checked out said he was sorry for me. Not as sorry as I am that I stayed here and paid a premium price for a substandard room.

Hotel was not a 4 star. The room was basic. The washroom needs renovation, toilet would not flush properly and shower was moldy. Good a/c..Breakfast was ok. Hotel was in a nice neighborhood. I have stayed at many hotels and this one was too expensive. I don’t recommend.

Terrible location, air barely works in heat wave and bugs in room. Some people on our tour said forget the included night and left to pay for other accommodations. Thank goodness it’s only one night. This is standard American hotel, no atmosphere of Rome

The pictures they show on the website are not at all what you will find. The rooms are extremely dated. Old mattresses, old furnishings, rusty faucets, 20 yr old carpet. Not worth the price. The only upside is all the places to eat in walking distance.

I stayed here for three nights with my students. I would not recommend this hotel for more than a one night stay. Air conditioning did not work in some of the rooms. Same with hot water. The hotel is in desperate need of a renovation as some rooms are abandoned and under construction with no attempt to conceal it from the guests. Breakfast was mediocre. Bar was not open. I say stay here for one night only if the price is right. Otherwise, keep looking.

Don't expect this hotel to be anything like the lovely photos they have on their website. It might have been lovely once, but it is dirty and run down and far from a 4 star hotel. The pictures I have attached speak for themselves, broken shower screen, broken tap fittings, filthy dust and bird waste covered verandas, and staff that don't seem to care. We were travelling with friends as part of a tour, and underwhelmed understates how poor our experience at this hotel is. I think if you were to average the last fifty or so reviews on this hotel, it would be well below its long term average. Compare my pics to the hotels web site and you will see a stark difference.

In general, everything went perfectly. The desk staff was friendly and efficient. The breakfast, which we recommend, was excellent, particularly the coffee, where each cup was prepared individually. There was also a machine for those who are impatient. The breakfast staff was pleasant and friendly. The hotel is very clean and well decorated. We can't think of anything that could be done better. The location is quiet and has numerous good shops and family owned restaurants nearby, more than Google Maps would indicate.
