The Cicerone is a 4 star hotel beside the Vatican and an ideal location to Base yourself for your visit to Rome. The hotel decor is somewhat dated however that is irrelevant when you experience the helpfulness of the hotel staff. Their contribution to our enjoyment of Rome was immense. The Concierge desk is fantastic for suggestions about when and... More

My wife and I recently stayed several nights at this property as part of a tour group. Good location. Nice lobby with bar. Rooms are in need of renovations. Wallpaper was coming up, carpet was worn, etc. The breakfast we had each morning was decent. Buffet style. Since we booked through a tour group, not sure what our charge was... More

It's a really nice hotel close to almost everything important in Rome. You're 5 minutes away walking from the Vatican, 10 minutes away walking from Fontana di Trevi and 20 minutes walk from The Colosseum. It has wifi, comfy rooms, and clean bathrooms. I really enjoyed being here for 3 nights. Definitely would reccomend it to outside visitors.

We went to Rome for 2 days on the 26th to the 29th of July and we were very happy with the service in the hotel. They had a variety of fantastic breakfast and the Resturant down stairs was the best food that we had. To die for really! Definitely would recommend this hotel

Stayed in October 2015 and was overcharged significantly. Have been trying to get them to refund the money, which they've agreed to refund....but they've stopped replying to my emails. So triple - check your bill before paying.

With the perspective that a European 4 Diamond rating maybe equivalent to a 3 Star US hotel, The Cicerone is a good value and clean. Located within walking distance to The Vatican with nearby safe shopping and cafes and great restaurants, it's a good choice & value. Stayed with a group on Pilgrimage so expectations were hopeful but realistic based... More

Review from a well-travelled individual... Not a 4-star property. The hotel initially provided a lower level room with worn carpet, nicked and dirty walls, rusty faucet, dated bathroom, and BLACK MOLD noticeably coming out of the HVAC vent. Immediately returned to the front desk and provided photos of the room condition. The front desk was apologetic and did assign another... More

The hotel is pretty centrally located, in a safe area, within walking distance to the metro and walking distance to many attractions (for example, it's about a 30-min walk to Spanish Steps). The rooms definitely need updating. I would not book the hotel if it were not for the group tour that we took. In fact, seems that many tour... More

Great value for money. The hotel is ideally located and within walking distance of some of Rome's main attractions (Vatican, Castel Sant'angelo, Pantheon etc), there is plenty of choice for eating out close by aswell. We didn't get chance to eat in the hotels own restaurant but it looked nice enough. The room had a strong smell of bleach when... More

Staying in Prati

Neighborhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Cicerone hotel is a large, bright, modern building perfectly inserted in the nineteenth century architectural style of the Prati district. In spite of its large size the hotel is very warm and welcoming providing a very comfortable environment for guests. Communal areas are filled with elegant sofas and all those small touches usually found in smaller boutique hotels. ... more   less
