This hotel is part of the Small Luxury Hotel collection. It is run nicely and has very nice rooms (recently refurbished). It is close to the Borghese Gardens and Gallery. The staff is attentive and nice. Breakfast was included with the room. It was good. The room breakfast is served in feels a little dated, but overall, the experience is nice. There is a rooftop bar that had a hopping scene. Reservations are necessary even for hotel guests. I will say, I was shocked at the prices at this bar. You are definitely paying for the view and vibe.
We decided to really splash out and stay at this hotel for our final night after 4 weeks of travelling Europe. The hotel is in a beautiful building and the rooms are nice. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was because of the amazing views from the rooftop bar. We were so looking forward to enjoying a cocktail and enjoying the views. Me and my husband got all dressed up and headed up to the bar (which was only half full), grabbed a drink and sat down. We were only sat there for about 5 minutes when we were approached by the concierge and advised that the bar was all booked out for a private function. We were asked to leave!! We went to the hotel Reception and they advised that there was nothing they could do as the bar was owned by a separate company. If that is the case then the hotel the hotel should not promote the rooftop bar as one of its features. In reality it isn’t really a 5 star hotel as it does not have a bar.…
The rooms are on the smaller and dated side. We had issues with the tub stopper, and the room temperature could not be set lower than 23c. No coffee in room. Location feels a little isolated. We had a ring go missing when we stepped out for a few hours for dinner, and we turned the room over looking for it. I wrote an email to the hotel afterwards to see if perhaps housekeeping found it when turning over the room after we left, but I received no response. We asked the front desk man when we were checking out to make a note of it, and he didn’t do so or give any indication of concern or interest. Another reviewer said he had $800 from his suitcase go missing. Something to keep in mind when booking this hotel…
From the warm welcoming of the "mustached" Doorman to the personal way the Front desk and concierge try to accommodate your every need. The rooms are always meticulously clean and fresh. The location that runs almost parallel to Via Veneto is a short walk to the Spanish steps and Rome's best shopping. The breakfast is taken on the 6th floor with large windows overlooking parts of Villa Borghese. The top floor is now a wonderful bar with light fair that is not to be missed. The prices for the drinks are tres cher but they also provide a small tray of "tapas" or a light selection of deserts (depending on what time you visit) Either way the view is a must experience.
Very happy with this hotel. I have to say that we booked using my Hyatt loyalty points, so I imagine that does influence my review as it was effectively a free stay. Staff: Everyone was very kind and welcoming. They all spoke perfect English which was helpful as my Italian is poor despite my best efforts. There was a man on the front desk with dark black/grey hair who was especially helpful and the breakfast staff were really nice. The hotel even put some Prosecco and glasses in our room on arrival as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary - and we were able to check in early. Location: I think I would have preferred to be a little further towards the pantheon etc, but everywhere was within walking distance. I believe there is a metro line close by although we didn’t use it. The slight incline to the hotel when you’re full of pasta is tiring, but fine if you’re of good health. My favourite gelato place, Neve di Latte | Via Veneto - and I tried many! - is a few minutes walk from the hotel. There is also Coop grocery 7mins from the hotel for drinks, snacks etc. If you’re coming and going from fiumicino airport, it’s a flat rate of 50 euro - the hotel can call you a taxi when you’re ready to leave. Rooms: They have older more traditional style rooms and newer more modern rooms. We stayed in an older superior room - 207 - and had no issues, we quite enjoyed the decor. The bed was extremely comfortable, the blackout curtains worked well, and the temperature was pleasant. Plenty of fresh towels, robes, and slippers. Our room was very quiet - except for the sound of glass bottles being collected each morning but I guess that’s what happens in a country famous for wine! You cannot control the air conditioning which may be an issue for some. There is a mini bar which you can use as your own fridge too. A large TV but the chromecast wasn’t working - although I doubt anyone watches much TV when in Rome! Plenty of storage space. The bathroom was a little tired - the shower was a bit rusty/broken and glass panel didn’t stop water getting onto the floor but we didn’t feel the need to complain. Housekeeping was very good - great attention to detail and free water every time they service the room (morning and evening). My only issue is they would enter the room without knocking - once I was having a nap (admittedly, I forgot to put on do not disturb) and the housekeeper walked straight in and I had to ask her to please leave. We also had a maintenance man walk in once, no idea why - we weren’t told anything was being fixed in the room. Facilities: The hotel is very grand and beautiful. There is a rooftop bar which we didn’t use as it’s extremely expensive but has wonderful views. Apparently their restaurant is one of the highest rated in Rome. Lifts are quite small but fine. We had breakfast included which was a pleasant surprise and always a nice experience - you could even help yourself to Prosecco! We were cheeky and made Buck’s Fizz every morning! My top tip is that you can use the pool at their partner hotel - Parco dei Principi Grand Hotel & SPA. They have indoor and outdoor facilities. Just ask reception to call ahead when you want to go - approx. 15/20 min walk. They will provide towels but bring your own water, suncream etc. Overall, a very lovely stay and I would recommend the hotel. My only areas for improvement are the bathrooms need a bit of love and the housekeeping should please knock before entering. P.S. nothing to do with the hotel but if mosquitoes love you then remember to pack deet! I got bitten A LOT…
What a excellent find in Rome. This hotel gets five stars for every thing. Location, ambiance, service, food. Staff goes way out of their way to please you. The lobby rooms are so beautifully decorated! It is a joy and so so comfortable! We stayed in room 253 ! Boy the bathroom is out of this world! We had a brilliant time in our favourite city! Thanks to all the staff.
Your attentive and friendly staff made our stay at your beautiful hotel all the more enjoyable. When our dinner reservations fell through, your concierge stepped in and made calls to organise similar places we could visit. A special shout out to your doorman who was always friendly and helpful. We would stay here again next time we visit Rome.
I spent here 4 nights in august 22 because it was very close to the building where I had classes. Who likes old places with history, with old furniture and the corresponding smell - it is the right place. Most of all I liked breakfast in the terrace in the restaurant at the 7th floor with perfect view of Rome, sky bar at the rooftop and the exceptional service provided at the reception by Danilo de la Cruz. He solved all the issues immediately. Care, attention, hospitality, kindness, politeness, professionalism - I didn’t expect to receive all of that from one person. Thank you very much!
We arrived at 07:00 AM right off of a red-eye from New York and were feeling exhausted, carsick, you name it. I don't know what we would have done without the staff here. I feel awful for not remembering her name, since she really came through for us, but the staff member at the front desk not only checked us in immediately despite the early arrival, but gave us a generous upgrade to top it off. We were only staying for one night, but remain so grateful to her and the staff for this. The room was very spacious, clean, and the hotel was conveniently located, allowing us to make the most of our single night there. Thank you so much!
We are repeat patrons of this lovely, perfectly situated hotel. Fabio checked us in and remained so helpful to us throughout our stay--his restaurant recommendations did not disappoint. Would definitely stay at this lovely hotel again. Breakfasts at Mirabelle and drinks at Adele were amazing--can't beat those views!
