We stayed here for a weekend - it worked really well for us because we could walk to everywhere - the Spanish steps the Trevi fountain, colosseum etc. But the thing that worked so well was the close proximity to Borghese park. Food and staff are amazing including top recommendations for local family friendly restaurants, we will be back.
What a great hotel. A total find. Location is 5 mins from The Spanish Steps and it's 25 mins to walk to the Colosseum via the steps and Trevi Fountain. The hotel is immaculate with a fabulous roof terrace and restaurant. What a view at breakfast. Highly recommend
We are recent retirees who stayed in Villa Borghese one year ago. We had just come off an overnight flight and, after about an hour's wait, were given a room on the second floor. There is a small step in the hallway to the right of the elevators...I missed it, fell, and hit my head quite hard on the stone, briefly losing consciousness. A young woman in the room next to the step came out to help me. She said that she had tripped over the step and was fortunate to not fall herself. My daughter who was staying in the hotel arrived to help - she too tripped over the step but was able to regain her balance. The step is black as is the surrounding floor. The first room they took us to had a gigantic step in it, also not well marked and, if I recall correctly, no handrail. I went to the hospital but left seeing the wait, and instead saw a doctor and spent a day and a half resting, usually in bed. Older people whose balance is not what it used to be must avoid this floor. Younger people are advised to as well. If you decide to go, ask about any steps on the route to your room. Hotel staff members were very helpful and I had a strong sense that they had dealt with the step many times before. It is very disappointing that a reputable chain like Sofitel would allow such a clear safety hazard. Uneven surfaces are expected in Europe; invisible steps are not. With that said, the rooftop breakfast is just like everyone says, wonderful, and the view spectacular. I spent a lot of time up there. The location is very good as well. Staff members were helpful with medical care.…
A very long overdue review. We stayed before and after a cruise September of 2019 and had the most wonderful time. The hotel is ideally located, the staff are amazing (great recommendations for sites, restaurants )and the rooms and views are beautiful. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was fabulous. We also enjoyed cocktails on the rooftop on other nights enjoying the stunning views. We were graciously upgraded to a suite for our second visit and were surprised with an unexpected treat of Prosecco and chocolate dipped strawberries for our Anniversary. Stunning sunset over St Peter’s from the balcony of our suite. Once we are able to travel again from Canada (so very much missing this) we will not hesitate to return to the Sofitel Villa Borghese as our Rome “home”.
Beautiful luxury hotel in the park of Villa Borghese with breathtaking views of the park and Rome! The hotel is completely renovated, located in a historic mansion with Baroque style, beautifully decorated with a combination of art nouveau style and modern innovations, the bathroom is especially beautifully decorated, comfortable luxurious beds. Good quality breakfast. The pleasant and attentive staff and hotel management complimented the upgrade to the Prestige Suite, as for the Platinum member, special thanks to Francesca and Maria Teresa for their loyalty and special attitude towards me! We will come again!
