There are many good qualities for this hotel, but one major flaw: the room furniture is so bad that this is a room just to sleep, not for anything else. I will explain - we had a massive room (think 25sqm+). In it, there was a tiny, tiny table (enough for one handbag, nothing else). One very uncomfortable and small wooden chair. And one stylish, but small "rocking" chair that was uncomfortable to sit on for longer than 15 minutes. You felt like you were sliding off the armchair. No ottoman at the foot of the bed, no other furniture. After a long day of walking around Rome as a tourist, or after a long day or business, do you not wish to collapse onto a comfy sofa or armchair? Or if you need to do a bit of work in the room, on a proper desk with space, and a comfortable desk chair? If not, this is maybe the hotel for you. Breakfast is an exorbitant EUR25+ per person. So we did not take that. The pool in the basement, is actually just a plunge pool. In darkness. No good for exercises, maybe just for a dip? There's a "jacuzzi" but with one jet. Vertical, from the floor. Not even horizontal at seat level. The only thing normal was the sauna, which was decent. Now the positives. Location is good, in a quieter part of town, opposite the American embassy. There's good restaurants nearby, as well as an amazing gelato shop just north of the hotel. Taxi rides were EUR10-15 to all the major tourist attractions, and the metro station just 5 minutes walk from the hotel (up/down a hill though). Bed quality was good, wifi was good. Bathroom was good, with powerful showers. Housekeeping was clean. Refreshed complimentary bottled water each day. Soundproofing was good; in our entire week, we didn't hear our neighbours at all, despite the hotel being full. So.... lots of things going for this hotel, except the crucial bit about the room being functional. Which is a pity.

Hotel's Favorite
The hotel was amazing. Its is a mini museum in and of itself. We arrived as part of a pre-cruise trip and wanted to sight see, and rest after our flight. Unfortunately, as I was unloading from our ride over, I was "bumped" and had my cell phone lifted from my back pocket. Although I was able to delete my cell of all its data, so to went all of my trip details. Hearing this, the hotel staff went above and beyond in helping me replan my three days in Rome, ensuring my dining reservations were in order and side trips were successful. The concierge made dining reservations for our last night, but upon hearing of a taxi strike starting that day, made sure the hotel limo service was available at no cost to take my family and retrieve us from our amazing dinner. This hotel is an amazing place, located in an elegant area, staffed with professional and caring people.. thank you Grand hotel!!

The location is great, within walking distance of the Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain, and plenty of restaurants. We had an attic room and a little balcony, which was small but cosy. There was only one lift and you had to wait for it sometimes, but it is an old hotel and I don't expect anything much.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel for 3 nights and found it to be comfortable, great location and the staff was very accommodating. We were given a take-away breakfast for our early flight home when we left. It was amazing! The daily breakfast which was included in the room rate was great! the food selection was fresh and assortment of breakfast items was delicious.

Across from the American Embassy is a great hotel, Grand Hotel Palace. From the moment of entry, it was grand, clean, and a very accommodating staff from the doormen to the front desk. I honestly wish we were there more than one night, as they went above and beyond. The front desk checked us in, were very friendly and chatty. When we mentioned we had to leave at 6am for a flight, they coordinated coffee to be delivered to our room at 5:30. We did not ask for that, they just offered and said it would not be a problem. We took the elevator up, and our luggage was already being delivered. The room was very nice, average size and a lot of marble. The bathroom was a good size and a really nice shower. After heading out for a walk to the Trevi Fountain and some sightseeing (we had been to Rome before, so we were just wandering), we headed back to the hotel and decided to have a glass of wine. The waiter was extremely attentive and ensured we were taken care of. Lastly, we asked for a dinner suggestion (and I normally do not do that) and the front desk personally recommended Zelda's - she stated everything was fresh, authentic, and she knew the owners. After a week of Sorrento and the Amalfi coast, with amazing meals, we had our BEST dinner at Zeldas. The food was fantastic, and the owners (Max and Georgia) went above and beyond to make it a culinary experience. My next trip, I will be spending more than one night at Grand Hotel Palace.

Hotel is in great location on Via Veneto across the street from US Embassy and close to sights, bars, and restaurants. Stayed just one night on front and back ends of our trip. Staff was super responsive prior to our arrival with restaurant recommendations and super friendly when we arrived jet-lagged and went to wrong room. They also left us champagne for my wife's delayed 50th bday & our 25th anniversary. Had room on 5th floor w/balcony that was amazing. Room and bathroom were both large. Breakfast was also very good. We'll be back!

Beautiful hotel with large rooms. Great location with easy walk to famed Rome tourist sights. Buffet American style breakfast was really spectacular with lots of options. Our first room had an issue with the electrical outlets and we were moved to an amazing room overlooking the American Embassy across the street. Awesome service and attention from everyone in the hotel.

A quick scan of Rome hotels will immediately reveal how expensive the city’s upscale hotels are. The Grand Hotel Palace is a refreshing exception to the rule. For a five-star hotel, the room rates are actually reasonably priced. You get a modern comfortable bedroom with a nice shower area. You get the similar high-quality service and amenities that five-star hotels are expected to provide. You get a hearty hot breakfast buffet (including various types of made-to-order eggs) to kick off each morning. And you get to be in the same exclusive and accessible area of Via Veneto, where all its brand-name five-star neighbours are easily charging €200 and up more per night for a similarly-sized room. All things considered, the Grand Hotel Palace might well be the best value-proposition for a upscale/luxury hotel in the Rome historic centre. So if you are mindful of your budget but are still looking to live well, this hotel should merit very strong consideration.

I e-mailed the hotel in advance, letting them know it was a special occasion and to request a nice room. They came straight back to me to say that although the hotel was busy (Saturday in July) they would see what they could do. Not only did we have such a lovely warm welcome from all of the staff but they managed to turn our room around very quickly (we were very early for check in) and supply something extra for the occasion. Vlad was absolutely brilliant at breakfast (tip - table on the terrace if you let him know in advance) and Giulia on reception was a star (to be fair all of the staff were great) Fairly small room with limited facilities but a great breakfast in a good location with lovely staff :-)
