Extremely quiet hotel , walking distance from Vatican and Trevi and other city highlights. Excellent breakfast. 5 star ecperience, nice pool area. Nice staff. In the morning we stayed at the pool , afternoon we went out for lunch and ecplored the city, close to Travestere the brst district for late night dining.

the Hotel is situated very close to the Vatican and a bit of distance to other tourists attractions. The hotel itself and the room was very stylish and comfortable. The decor is modern yet blends well with the style of the old walls and corridors. It is well renovated and maintained. the staff is multilingual, so communication is not a... More

Perfect locación, very close to Vatican City ( 10 min walk) and very easy to go to most typical places like Fontana de Trevi, Piazza Nabona,... Facilities are in good shape. We tried a suite under Red Level program and it wasn't worthy because, firstly, you do not have time to try all the possibilities it gives you, and secondly, there... Impeccable choice indeed! We spent 3 nights and we were really happy with the personalised check in, the professionalism showed by each employee, great location and the magnificient property, the gran melia is. Full of amenities and whilst it caters mainly for families , adults can relax in the wonderful spa. One small advise, if you were to use the... More

The Gran Melia Rome has all the services and amenities you need to have a fantastic vacation in Rome. The hotel staff is very accommodating to requests and went out of their way to help us set up tours, dinner reservations and transportation. The pool is a very nice place for families to relax on hot summer afternoons. Great location... More

Stayed here for 3 nights in August 2016 with husband and 2 kids. Loved the location: walked to Vatican, piazza Navona, Trastevere, Pantheon and v easy to get taxi to Colosseum. Pool is very nice to come back to after sight-seeing. BUT it's just not as great as it should be for the price. The Red Level Thing is a... More

Beautiful grounds and pool, right in the centre of everything in Rome with truly excellent staff, but very expensive for what it is. For the price the Premium rooms are on the small side ( though well designed and decorated), plus drinks and food are very expensive. Twelve euro for a bottle of beer, seven euro for a plate of... The hotel is easily 5 Star, though rooms are on the small side- We had the Premier room, not sure how small the standard room must be. The Restaurant is the highlight- top quality chef, supported by highly professional service team. Dined there twice, and consistently excellent. Breakfast was disappointing: limited choice, and not the best staff on duty there.... More

I stayed at the Gran Melia Rome with my daughter and returned home this week. The good aspects of this hotel is that it is a lovely quiet hotel just under a ten minute walk from Vatican City and 10-20 minutes away from Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain and the Piazza Di Spagna which houses the Spanish Steps.... I cannot fault this hotel in any way shape or form and I have high standards with hotels . How anyone can say it's not a 5 star hotel is beyond me! The whole experience was luxurious from start to finish. We were red level guests so perhaps the experience of non red level guests may be different but wow..... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
