The Kolbe is a nice average 4 star hotel with a very good location in the city center of Rome. It takes you 7 minutes to walk to Piazza Venezia and ten minutes to walk to Trastevere or the nearest metro. For the easiest transfer from Fiumicino either take a cab or opt for the local train (not the express)...

Me and my spouse stayed inhotel Kolbe, Rome in March 2011. Hotel room was too hot for us (+22C) and we had to keep the window open almost all the time. I don't recommend this hotel for families with small children, the road is awful to walk and people drive (as they do everywhere in Rome) as fast as possible....

Close to Circus Maximus and the Forum, great breakfast, good rooms, but watch out for the split level rooms if you have small children...Super staff.

Last week my family stayed at the Kolbe Hotel for three nights, while we sped around the wonders of Rome. We were all made to feel extremley welcome by all of the Hotel Staff. The Kolbe manages to combine a peaceful ambiance with an excellent City Centre location.

This is a real find -- on a lovely quiet street that just happens to be directly across from the Palatine Hill, with a full view of the excavations, and down the street from a little-known view that is one of the loveliest of the Forum.I've stayed in Rome a number of times, in Trastevere, in the Campo dei Fiori,...

We loved our stay. First time in Rome and we were made to feel very welcome. Good dinner and breakfast. Very friendly staff and a lovely location overlooking the Forum and close to the Colosseum, just across the river from Trastevere. Recommended.

We stayed at the hotel with two Adults and two kids. The hotel is nice, modern and the room was pretty nice, a duplex with a stairway to an upstairs bedroom. Bed comfortable and the hotel area very quiet. Breakfast was good, especially the unlimited cappucino machine. I have 3 cups! Another plus is that we arrived at around 8...

We arrived in Rome from Venice via train. At the railway station we approached the official white taxi rank and was assigned a taxi by the guy in charge. Unfortunately, the older gentlemen driving the Opel Astra estate ripped us off. In what appears to be a typical ploy he didn't drop us exactly at the front door of the...

Little outside of "central" area, but we stayed here b/c we were visiting my niece who lives around there. This hotel is just around the corner from Mouth of Truth. There was a weekend indoor market on the same block (1 min walk) that served us well when we got hungry mid-day and our dinner reservation wasn't till 8pm. Hotel...

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
