Such a lovely hotel in an excellent location. Service was personalized, professional and warm. Marco in the breakfast room was especially lovely. He always had a little something extra for us to try. Staff were terrific in terms of helping us find our way around. I never felt hurried. This is a hotel that knows how to take care of... More

We stopped over in Rome for 3 nights on our way to the Amalfi coast for a wedding. We thought it would be good to show the kids the sights. What a wonderful little hotel. Central enough to reach all the historic attractions but far enough away not to be swamped by tourists. It is clean. The staff are great,... More

.....just what you need for a 3-day (4 night) break. Greeted with a bottle of bubbles in our room, which got the stay off to a good start! As others have said, very friendly service; all staff very polite. Hotel immaculately clean. Only downside was that there was relatively little space for clothes despite reasonable size room. We were able... More

Clean hotel with good service and staff. Perfect location, walking distance to Spanish steps, Trevi fountain and colosseum and if you're willing to walk, pretty much everything else. Showers leave a little to be desired, and beds are rock solid, but the AC works and the rooms are clean. Breakfast is good and the hotel is close to coffee shops... More

We stayed at Hotel Mascagni from June 30 to July 2 and then again July 9. The hotel is in a great location. We were able to walk and take the metro to sites and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is lovely and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooms are chic, cozy and comfortable and... More

We enjoyed our stay at Mascagni. This hotel's location is convenient to the train station (1 1/2 block away), a metro stop (only 1/2 block away= Repubblica train stop) and a taxi stand just across the street. And most of the buses stop by the Termini train station stop. Transportation was never a problem and getting a taxi could never... More

Our family spend 4 nights here. Aside from the fact that the rooms were spacious and immaculate what really distinguished this hotel was the staff. Everyone from the front desk, to waiters and housekeeping staff were welcoming and eager to please. I want to especially mention the waiters who on overhearing that one of the kids was having a birthday... More

I stayed here for three nights with a friend. The staff couldn't do more to help us - especially one of the receptionists (I think his name was Luciano). In terms of location, we could walk to wherever we needed to go and there was a tube station just a short walk away.

Arrived before the official check in time and they had a room ready for us already, not an easy task in a boutique hotel. The concierge, Leonardo? Was nice and helpful in showing us where we were located and answered our questions and even let us leave a few things in the freezer of the hotel without a problem. Had... More

My husband and I spent three nights at Hotel Mascagni, and it exceeded our expectations! The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location. We walked all around Rome, and it was a relief to come back to the hotel and enjoy the AC after long days of sightseeing. We would stay at this hotel... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
