This hotel was excellent value for money, the twin room was big enough for us and was clean and well maintained. The location at the end of the Via Nazional is excellent base for getting around with easy access to rail and metro. there are plenty pubs and restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was a little too basic for my... More

we spent 4 nights here and were quite comfortable although my mattress managed to move a bit during the night. The rooms were clean and bathrooms done every day; staff were very helpful , even making phone calls for me and the breakfast is good with great coffee. Number one positive is that the hotel is so central to everything:... More

3 nights in this little hotel for a long weekend break. As per other reviews it wasn't the best hotel and the lift stopped a floor short of the top, so we had a flight of stairs to climb each time we went up to our room. It was small and basic but adequate. It wasn't cheap for the lack... More

Just home from a 3 night stay at this hotel. It was in a perfect location.. It was clean we had a lovely room. The breakfast was great each morning but just one thing.. There was no hot food at all but it's not the end of the world there was plenty to fill you up that's for sure. I... More

The only good thing in this hotel was the location and breakfast. Not at all clean, dirty blankets as mattresses. I needed a bed for my son, and brought a camp that had been damaged layer. The wifi unacceptable.....

Just got back from Hotel Patria.Yes, it's a budget hotel but absolutely perfect for a four night stay. Located in a minor street, It's no more than 200 yards walk to the Republica Metro station and a fine plaza with amenities. Practically no noise at night, but it is a city after all. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially... More

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights whilst in Rome and it is a great base for your stay. What I will say is that you get what you pay for. This is a budget hotel with budget style rooms that could use a bit of TLC. I stayed in a single room (104 ) which was fine but... More

Unfortunately this hotel does not match its location. Small claustrophobic room with many sharp edges to provide a reminder of your stay. It is near the rail station and many of the central historical sites of Rome but I will not be returning

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
