At the Genova it makes a huge difference which side of the hotel your room is facing as being so close to Termini station also means you have to deal with or hear the traffic noise that hardly calms down at night. The hotel has recently been renovated and the new rooms are nicely decorated and feature many ammenities. Breakfast...

We stayed for four nights and were very happy with the location and comfort of the rooms. The beds were comfortable and rooms nicely appointed. The breakfast was fine and had a good selection. My only caution is that the staff seemed very tied into making recommendations for poor quality expensive restaurants and limo services. It is obvious that they...

I had reserved this hotel initially becuase I had liked the pictures of the property itself, but was a little scared after reading various reviews about the rooms being extremely small, with no functioning A/C. To our surprise the room was not HUGE but a good size for our family of 3, I mean come on we're not planning on...

After checking in at 1pm we were told to come back at 3pm with the flick of a hand. Such was the standard of service at the front desk. As it was raining I asked if we could borrow an umbrella and was told to buy one outside from the very gypsies I had tried to avoid coming down from...

With one exception, my wife and I were completely satisfied with Hotel Genova and would not hesitate to stay there again or recommend it to others. The exception to which I refer concerned the room temperature. The hotel is on a noisy street but with the windows and shutters closed there is complete silence and darkness. However the A/C had...

Our family of 4 (two adults and two kids) stayed at Genova for a week in early Jun 2009, so this review is long overdue. We had spent a considerable amount of time looking at hotels on Trip Advisor, Expedia, and several other travel sites before finally booking Genova. We booked a Quad suite off the hotel's own website. On...

We planned our trip to rome for a year. I read all reviews about the hotel Genova so I wasn't really sure what we would find when we got there. I've got to say I was pleasantly suprised, the hotel was very nice, the room spacious and clean. The bathroom was big with bathtub and shower combo. Our room was...

After staying in 2 hotels near the Colliseum, which were less than what we had expected, we checked into the Genova and immediately were relieved. The hotel is situated near the Termini Station which was terrific for us as we travelled around the city each day by metro and left by train to the airport. The hotel has had a...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
