Marcella royal hotel wasn't as close to sites as I was told. For example, Spanish steps is suppose to be 10 min walk and it took me about 25 minutes to get there and I wasn't taking my time either. The trevi fountain is only a good 10 min walk from the Spanish steps and the colosseum is probably a... More

A friend and I have just returned from Rome to celebrate a rather large birthday and we were not dissapointed in this hotel. THe room was large, clean and with a big window overlooking Via Flavia, a street with delis, bakers and good restaurants. The staff were friendly and the breakfast varied and tasty and served on the roof terace... More

Having paid 170Euros per night and having read the reviews, we were astounded when we arrived at the Marcella Royal. The decor and furniture in both the communal areas and the bedroom was fairly low standard and did not look as if had been updated much in the last 20 years. The bedroom was small, dark, old-fashioned, with artificial flowers... More

We arrived at the Marcella Royal Hotel booked through Expedia March 23. Book a private car through Limousine Systems online. 45 minutes to and from Fiumicino airport from the hotel. Everything went well and the contact is through Tina Hernandez. It beats all the scamming by taxis in Rome and all contact/reservation can be done online. We had no problems... More

Middle aged couple stayed 4 nights March 2012. The hotel is situated in a middle class area, with a well lit street away from the main traffic. The street has an assortment of restaurant/bars/cafe's with a variety of price ranges. The tube (safe) is within 15 minutes steady walk of the hotel. We used a combination of walking and the tube... I stayed at this lovely property March 2012. There were 20 individuals in a variety of rooms. The rooms were clean, bathrooms spotless and the service extraordinary! The rooftop bar and restaurant was a wonderful place to relax in the evening and offered a nice selection of items for breakfast (included). Salvatore was a superstar as he attended to our... More

This Hotel is on the edge of the main sightseeing area but we enjoyed the quiter location. For anyone reasonably fit all the main sights are within walking distance, Trevi Fountain 20 mins, Spanish Steps 25 mins, Colloseum 25 mins, Vatican or Trastevere 1 hour, If you can do it, walking is certainly the best way to see Rome, otherwise... The site shows that everyone has different expectations, and some reviews seem malicious. We can only say that having taken the adivce of the site, the hotel lived up to its praise. We listened to those who complained of the size of the rooms, and booked a premium room, which turned out a small suite. It was comfortable, clean and... More

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
