Received a very nice welcome from staff who remembered us from a previous stay. Reception area and some rooms upgraded since then and now very pleasant. This time we had a spacious room at the front of the hotel - everything clean and as you would expect. Breakfast was pretty good - choice of a few cereals and yoghurts, bread,...

We stayed at D'Este for a 3 night break as part of our honeymoon. We were originally put at the back of the hotel looking into very unsightly houses, but where moved to the front of the hotel looking into the the Maggiore church - stunning view especially at night! Literally could not have been more happy with its location...

We visited the hotel in November. Travelled as a couple for a few days and chose this hotel as our city break base. Only about a 10 minute walk from the Termini station and very central so ideal to walk from. Cost €6 each from the airport to the main station. Took about 45 minutes. A taxi would have cost...

We stayed for 4 nights, in a triple room on 2nd floor, overlooking the main street. The hotel is in an old building, and so is limited in what services it can provide. However, they seem to have done the best they can with what they have. So, the room was clean and comfortable, with a recently refurbished bathroom and...

We booked an overnight stay which we wanted to be central and easy to reach attractions and station. This hotel ticked all the boxes. The staff were very accommodatiing and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and hotel very clean. The only downside was the bathroom which could do with revamping - the toilet was old and wobbled! The shower was...

Having read the previous reviews I admit to having some misgivings prior to arrival at this hotel. However, once we arrived, myself and my girlfriend found the hotel to be very pleasant. The reception staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the room, although basic, was clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was a standard continental type with bread, meats...

Old hotel but great location, love the open patio for the breakfast. We had a great view to the main street and the church. Close to the Central train station and the metro - we took to Vaticana, Watch out for pick-pocketers on the metro, we got robbed but was able to capture the them (a whole family with a...

Pay a bit more and stay somewhere else. Rooms were updated but bathroom was a disaster, Broken tile and mold in the shower. Hotel location is Not the cleanest or nicest area. I highly recommend to pay a bit more and stay at a different hotel.

It was overall a pleasant stay and the location of the hotel in regards to the sites is excellent. The room was nice and spacious but the bathroom was not very nice with damage to the bath and toilet seat; it could also do with revamping (I think we stayed in room 106). The staff were very friendly, the breakfast...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
