My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Doria in Rome for our honeymoon in late April/early May. It is a lovely boutique hotel with a wonderful staff that was so helpful to us during our stay (a staff that is there 24 hours a day!..great when you're coming back from dinner and drinks quite late at night). We even... More

Lovely friendly hotel which is excellently situated for the sites of Rome, within 5min walk of the train station and all the sites can be walked to within 30 mins. The room was lovely and very clean,my only criticism would be that the shower is very snug,if you're a bigger person I think you would struggle. Breakfast on the roof is... More

We stayed at the Doria with another couple for 23 nights on our first trip to Rome having booked the hotel through recommendations on TA. The hotel is conveniently located near St Mary Maggiore church and about a 15 minute walk to the colosseum. Taxi from the Fiumincini airport cost €48. We were given 2 double rooms, they are small... wonderful small hotel to stay. Great position and so clean and friendly. We have stayed there twice. Highly recommend it. Air conditioned and very comfortable beds. Best part is the staff. They are awesome. U will not regret staying here. We had 16 of us staying here and we all enjoyed our stay.

We chose this hotel based on the reviews, its location and the good price. It lived up to all of it. The hotel is a very short walk from the Termini station, so it's convenient to many historical sights. We arrived direct from our flight, which landed in the morning. Our room wasn't ready yet, but they held our bags... More

Spent 4 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed it. The room was quite small, but were always clean and was just fine for me on my own. The front desk staff were very friendly and always welcomed with a smile and a 'Bonjourno"! The continental breakfast was great with plenty of choice and you could eat it out on... More

I can't say enough about this hotel. I have ZERO complaints! The room was beautiful, bathroom was good. Everything was spotless. ANytime I thought I had an issue- I saw it was already taken care of (IE pillows were very flat- open closet and there's extra blankets and pillows to use!). I arrived a few hours early direct from my... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
