First off, I am no seasoned world traveler, as this was my first overseas trip, however I travelled extensively for my job of the last twenty years and have stayed in hundreds of hotels. I have to say, from the independently owned small town hotels to the major chains and luxury hotels, they can all learn much from the Hotel... More

Friendly staff make you feel welcome. Community tables for breakfast and dinner allow you to meet others in a nice atmosphere. Walking distance to Colliseum and restauarants/bars in Monti district. Like old Italy a bit off the beaten track quiet/laid back (for Rome).

This hotel is conveniently located near the Colliseum, and has a taxi stand about two blocks away. The staff can also call a taxi for you, and it arrives in minutes! The staff gave an excellent recommendation for a nearby restaurant, and provides you with a map of Rome ( which you will need!) The only The only slightly negative... More

This is a smaller property with a caring, helpful and friendly staff. My wife was having a heart attack as we were checking in. I will never forget the care and time the receptionist spent making sure we went to the best hospital in Rome.

Hotel Lancelot is everything all the reviews (we had read prior to our trip) said it would be. The family who runs it are great-so nice, and helpful. The hotel is clean, quaint, handy to metros stations, bus stops, and within walking distance to many of the sites of Rome. A beautiful breakfast is served in their dining room every... More

My husband and I have been on a 2 1/2 week vacation in Italy. We have stayed at many airbnbs and hotels and hotel Lancelot has been our favorite by far. The location is magnificent and close to ancient Rome but also walking distance to every other main attraction in Rome. Our room was fantastic - simple but very well... More

The hotel itself is beautiful and in an amazing location. Very easy to get to using the train and metro as it is about 2 blocks over from the Colosseo. We came earlier than our check in and they switched us to a room that was ready which was nice but they also will hold your bags if you wanna... More

Tucked away in a little side street ( all the side streets are little) just a few steps away from the Colosseum was a treasure for sure. The family run hotel was welcoming, friendly and very helpful making us feel comfortable and safe. The private court yard when we had the rental car was a god send. The english speaking... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
