Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for three nights. Given the location, so close to the Greek fountain and other sights we thought it was great value for money. Our room was a good size, clean and everything you'd want for a short city break.

+1
We have visited Rome four times in recent years and we have stayed at the THFdT for each visit. As many others have mentioned, the location is fantastic i.e. 30 to 40 yds to the Trevi Fountain, and within walking distance of everything in Rome, other than the Vatican. The rooms are large and tastefully decorated as are the bathrooms. The showers are a bit small but consistent with European/Italian standards. This is no longer a B&B as they are unable to serve breakfasts due to city by-laws. However, Francesca always takes 'extra' steps to ensure we have a very enjoyable visit to Rome. Looking forward to our next visit to the THFdT.

Everything said by previous reviewers is spot on. Simome & Francesca very helpful - room lovely - location perfect. This was our first visit to Rome and everyone at the Town House Fontana Di Trevi helped make it a perfect break.

Unfortunately, I had a reservation in April 2021, I paid in advance, but the flight was canceled due to Covid. I announced in March that I wanted to cancel, but even today I have not received the money I paid in advance. ATTENTION those who pay in advance.

I can't begin to describe how disappointed I am with this hotel. After travelling for 10 hours by flight. I Show up between 1pm and 6pm like they demanded and no one was there to let me into my room. I was out front buzzing for 1 hour until a resident from the same building walked in. I was able to follow up that resident in, and finally get to the front desk only for no one to be there. i ended up walking over to hotel regno which costed me double than this did, After i followed up they are saying that they are not going to refund me my money because they said I didn't show up. I booked this through expedia and expedia is saying that they called me 5 times, which i never received 1 call about my reservation.
This is not a risk worth taking thats for sure. Extremely disappointed.

Response from trevisuite, Proprietario at Town House Fontana Di Trevi
Responded Aug 24, 2016
dear mr cameron, my question is...why are you contact me after 2 months? or better, why you didn't contact me at all? you spoke with someone from expedia that call me 2 months after your supposed day of arrival!!... if you really came within 6 p.m (when i have guest arrival me or one assistant are at the reception waiting for guest even if they don't give notice about the time arrival) it's impossible you were not able to enter! we have the door of the palace, with the door keeper, open till 5 p.m every day!! after 5 you have just to ring the entryphone. we are there till 6 p.m when we are waiting for guest. after 6 p.m we just need a notice of the guest and we wait for the late check in with any problem. mr cameron, but what's more, if you had a mobile (you did't see any call right?) why you didn't call at the number show on the entryphone??? if someone have some problem they just call! you came till here, you where around the palace (where anyone into shops or bar knows about me and my place)you were into the palace for more then 1 hour, i'd like to know in wich floor then, and you didn't simply try to call me? it sound very very strange to me! and why you didn't call the day after? you directly, or from the other hotel, or through expedia? why you didn't wrote me an email, a text message, or on what's up? you moved to hotel regno after that right? why you didn't come here the day after (that hotel is few steps from my guesthouse!) you could stay here the other 2 nights, or even you could come only for solve the matter! you just disappeared (maybe you just prefer to stay in another hotel!!) and showed up two months later asking for a refound? This way to use tripadvisor is really unfair! in 2016, next time, try to call or write an email, if REALLY there was a problem with the ckeck in, we would have solved right away . regards

Be careful about the room that you book. The room shown on booking web sites and the room that they gave us was not the same. The “family room” what they call is 5-6 minutes away from the main building. Actually it is not a hotel room but a ground floor apartment within a building complex in a silent street which we did not feel safe at night time. The staff at the reception told us that there is nothing to do if we did not like the room. She also said it is mentioned on web site that the family room is an independent building but it was in Italian language which I do not speak and understand. They failed in customer satisfaction.
In the room the furniture is very old and dirty looking. Room smells mold. There are mice wandering in the yard. You are not allowed to use some of the closets. Bathroom is in very bad condition.
The safe is attached to the shelf but the shelf itself is not fixed to the wall so you can easily take it out LOL.
There is only one double bed and the other two are rollaway beds. They move easily when you are sleeping and absolutely not comfortable. I leave the room with backache after 3 days of stay.
Internet is an other issue. Actually the internet is mobile internet with an extremely slow speed. I had such a slow speed back in 1990’s. It is almost impossible even to check you emails. The only positive thing is the location. As a result we would not stay here again and do not recommend.

This was our first trip to Rome and we had a wonderful time at the townhouse. On our arrival we were greeted by Francesca who spent half an hour with us in providing helpful information about Rome attractions, walking tours and great places to eat. The room was large and very clean so was the bathroom. The decor was modern and wall colors were picked tastefully. The place is literally next to Trevi Fountain and major attractions such as Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Spanish Steps are 5 to 10 minutes walk. The Kitchenette in the apartment was a plus apart from major appliances a laptop availability really comes in handy. For the foodies, please listen to the restaurant suggestions of Francesca and Simone and you will not be disappointed. Additionally, two of the best gelato places Giolitti and Gelato di San Crispino are 3 to 5 minutes away. So please look no further, for location, accommodation and hospitality we highly recommend Town House Fountana Di Trevi.

Didn't have a good experience here. Will be objective though:
Pluses
Location - excellent
Staff & comms - friendly at reception desk
Bathroom - clean, functional
Facilities - TV, DVD. AC. Kettle. Cooker, oven, crockery and cutlery. Safe. Fridge. Breakfast at a charge.
Cleanliness - daily cleaning
Downsides
Location - not necessarily in Via de Crociferi. You may, like us, be sent across the other side of the Trevi to an apartment on Vicolo de Scandenbeg. This was still an excellent central location but was unexpected - I recommend you clarify exactly where you will be placed before you finalise.
Staff & comms - English speakers not always present during working hours - I was ok but this can be a problem. The buzzer on the building in Via Crociferi is completely confusing - if you buzz Townhouse Fontana di Trevi (4th floor), you get nothing. You have to buzz Townhouse (8th floor). The reception is then bizarrely on the 3rd floor. The lift is tiny - be warned if a lot of luggage.
If like us you're across the other side of the Trevi, communication only possible by phone - meaning you'll incur unnecessary charges on your mobile if you need to ring.
Facilities - only Italian TV. Wi-Fi barely ever works and is totally hit and miss despite two access portals. This was also a massive problem for us. For some reason the majority of electrical sockets didn't work so we ended up charging phones and even connecting the iron to the socket above the fridge. The breakfast was delivered in a carrier bag and suspended from our front door handle. Considering the daily charge for this, the content was pitiful (e.g. sometimes the brioche were completely stale, juice was cheap, and in the heart of Italy the cheese they decided to delight us with was processed Dairylea type stuff). I can only expect they are laughing all the way to the bank on breakfast charges. We were 2 parents and two small children and had two fold away beds and a double bed. The smallest bed was dilapidated. Also the quilts had no formal covers and were underlayed and overlayed by single sheets of cotton. The boiler and storage tank is so small that only two people can have brief showers before the water runs cold - not good in February with small children.
Cleanliness - permanent musty smell in the room. Probably damp. When we arrived the oven was filthy as was the inside of the kettle.
Others - the straw on the camel's back was that the main entrance to the building had a defective lock. Very tricky to get in on the first day, but from the second day onwards the lock was completely broken (not by us) and revolved in its entirety within the lock housing. Despite making callouts for this, we noted it was only fixed on our last day when we exited the building for the last time. As you can imagine, this was a major inconvenience and what was additionally annoying was they knew about this recurring problem for ages and never fixed it (told to me by reception staff).
Feel let down by trip advisor reviews for this place - we found them to be inaccurate.

We are a party of 10 who stayed in 5 different rooms. ALL the rooms were gorgeously decorated with updated decor, and many various luxuries. The mattresses were comfortable, breakfast was great, the location superb, and the hostess was attentive & helpful. Don't expect conceirge service 24 hours a day, instead expect independance, cleanliness, privacy, and luxury!

I did a LOT of research to find suitable, affordable accommodation in Rome. What a find the Town House Fontana di Trevi was. The value here was amazing. Our own, huge room (which had small kitchen with full stove and oven, dining table and chairs, TV area, queen bed plus a single bed for our son and a bathroom.) Entry from the street is via 2 locked doors leading to the courtyard area. The location is superb-we were able to walk to everything from here, yet still be within a minute's walk of the hustle and bustle of Trevi Fountain. The Pantheon and Piazza Navona are only a few minutes away as well and The Vatican around 20-30 minutes walk or by taxi it was EUR 12.50. If you are coming to Rome, book tickets for The Vatican Museum online to skip the line (can be done a few months out) and also for the Galleria Borghese. To see The Colosseum & avoid queues- either buy the Roma Pass (gives free entry to 2 attractions, so make one The Colosseum- plus public transport in Central Rome. Valid for 48 or 72 hours) or buy your ticket for Colosseum at Palatine Hill or the Forum- it includes Colosseum entry and because you have your ticket already-you avoid the huge line to buy a ticket! Francesca and Simone at Fontana di Trevi gave wonderful service to us. They booked a car to collect us from our accommodation, for Rome airport on our departure (EUR48) which was a lifesaver as we didn't have to struggle with luggage. On arrival the fridge was stocked with yoghurts, milk and orange juice. Every morning freshly baked baguette and pastry items were delivered to our door. We were able to make a good cup of percolated coffee every day with the provisions in the kitchen.
The Dependance suite is handy to so many nice and affordable restaurants and supermarkets/ wine shops. For our last meal in Rome, Francesca recommended Osteria Barberini- (rated about 26 of over 7300 restaurants in Rome)- how delicious this was and highly recommended. About a 10 minute walk but well worth it. Affordable too, less than EUR90 with 3 courses and a small house wine.
If ever we return to Rome we would happily stay again here. It was nice not being in a big hotel, we really felt like locals! Other added bonuses: 2 lockable bikes (no helmets) are provided for guest use, a mobile phone as well and the wifi gadget can be taken out of the room with you. However we found the battery was always flat once we left the room so we stopped taking this with us. These are very nice extras though to be included.
Thank you Francesca and Simone for a wonderful stay!
