They advertise they have a restaurant and bar but the bar is only a mini bar in your room and the restaurant is breakfast only reserved in advance with only 4 tables in a small room and they charge 10 euros per person. There is no front desk, no one to speak to with concerns. It is a very small hotel with nice size rooms but they call it a suite when there is only a bed and a jacuzzi tub - no couch, chairs or table. The toilet broke down twice during our 4 nights there. It was also very noisy with street traffic. The only salvation is that it is only a block from Piazza Novana, which is the area we wanted to be in. We will never stay there again.
I would have rated terrible if it weren't for the location of the lodging, which is superb. First let me state that we stayed here 4 years ago and were delighted. I well understand the ravages of Covid on the industry and have factored this into the review. I booked the junior executive suite, which we had stayed across the hall from last time. It was the same as the exclusive suite but higher ceiling. When we arrived, there was no one to let us in, around early afternoon. We did not receive the emailed access code until after 2 . We were evidently expected to drag our own bags upstairs. We were escorted to a second floor room, so small that there was no where for clothes. The employee said we booked that room despite proof of the contrary. The staff finally promised to put us in the proper room the next day. Any request went unanswered due to video conferencing that was ineffective. There was no food services any longer either. Our hot water stopped working twice and the toilet flushed poorly. Sadly despite the location I would not recommend staying here and would not return. …
I loved the location of this hotel - the rooms were large for a city and clean however, there was a generic security code that opened each and every room including the front door. Along with the lack of security there was also a serious lack of air conditioning. The bathroom floors were heated so the door had to be kept closed.
Such a nice hotel near Piazza Navona and all the other main attractions. We stayed here for 2 nights and couldn't ask for more really. Everything was perfect, the staff, the room, the breakfast in the morning. We will definitely choose Gigli d'Oro suites again when we are back in Rome. Grazie :)
Stayed for 8 nights with my wife, everything was great, but Glenn and Julio were the cherries on top, besides doing a very late check-in and a very early check-out, they were all the time in communication with us. Also great room breakfasts in the mornings. Tip: If the AC is not cooling enough, ask the staff to remove the "cage" around it, will make the difference.
Global pandemic. Country borders shut. I need to cancel sadly. Gigli d'Oro- NO REFUND FOR YOU. We approached Gigli D'Oro Suite on your behalf to request the cancellation of your reservation. We are sorry to report that they are unable to make an exception in this case, and will charge the entire cancellation fee.
We stayed in the place for 5 nights in their Executive Suite. The water was never hot enough for a shower - it was lukewarm at best and sometimes ice cold. They did not clean the room one of the days we stayed there. Also, the wifi was not working well in the room. I would not recommend this place.
From Singapore, we stayed 9 nights in this establishment in October. The location was excellent, just 3 minutes' walk to the popular Piazza Navona with a taxi stand right outside. It was surrounded by great restaurants, bars and cafes. Hotel staff were courteous, helpful and professional. And the price was reasonable. But there were some downsides. First, the hotel Wi-Fi was unstable. It auto-disconnected from time to time, and I had to re-logon again. Second, housekeeping service was wanting. Hand soaps, toilet papers, etc were not adequately replenished. Third, the term "suites" was a bit stretched. Ours was just a bigger double-bed room with an additional table and two chairs. Fourth, hotel staff were only on duty from 8:00am to 8:00pm. After 8:00pm, guests would have no services whatsoever. If you can put up with these minor shortcomings. then this is a good hotel to stay.…
Beautiful place, wonderful, friendly and happy staff, doing everything to make the guests happy. The location of this hotel is fantastic, rooms are nice and breakfast is a true Roman treat. I simply loved it here. Thank you Giulio and Daniele to make my stay here so nice.
I honestly want d to give this hotel five stars, but I just couldn't based on my experience there. It wasn't terrible, but with a botique hotel you expect high quality service. For the record, the hotel's website is TERRIBLE with a lack of information and unrealistic claims. 1) Breakfast is included. Great! This was not mentioned on the website. They really pushed the breakfast room service on us when we checked in. That's because a place that has 6 suites only has four tables that seat 2 people max for breakfast. The breakfast room was tinier than our room. The first morning we went to the continental breakfast and it took an hour. There is one staff member managing both the breakfast room and breakfast room service. Ordering espresso took 20 minutes. Waiting for juice or yogurt took 20 minutes. Ordering eggs took 30 minutes. The second morning we went to another hotel to have a better breakfast. 2) The room we had also had a fireplace. A decorative fireplace that did not work. Which was not mentioned on the website. In the US, this would be considered false advertising. The sink in the bathroom sprayed water everywhere unless it was just dripping. Multiple faucets in the bathroom didn't work properly. Housekeeping did not empty the trash (only one tiny can in the bathroom for the entire suite). They did not refresh the vanity kits. Just provided new towels. We only had a shower and no bathtub, but that wasn't clear on the website either. Our "City view" was the wall of the building across the street. The noise all three nights was terrible, even with the windows shut. The air conditioner only went down to 19° C. The wifi was so bad as to be considered unusable. I couldn't even check email. Ended up using data the whole time. 3) The staff was friendly and helpful. We did have to wait over an hour when a staff member was supposed to be at the front desk between 8 am and 8 pm and no one was there. We did get charged for wanting an extra key to our room. The default is one key per room. A lot of the amenities mentioned with the hotel have to be requested and aren't just available, such as bathrobes and slippers, etc. This may be a bit of a ranting review but I only got 12 hours of sleep over 3 days due to the noise outside our room. Lovely looking hotel and good location, but I would not book again or recommend to anyone else. …
