A bit delayed sharing this review but we visited Roma in April. We travel to Europe often and we absolutely fell in love with this hotel and the staff. Amazing people - who went consistently above and beyond to say hello and make sure we were enjoying our stay. From the minute we arrived, which was very early since coming from the US, the front desk helped guide us and give us suggestions of where to go. The restaurant was exceptional - great chef and staff; very innovative and tasty. The bar became a regular GO TO; I still miss seeing the staff and their exceptional creative drinks. We visited the week before the roof top opened so I’m sure that is even more amazing - but the bottom line is that the best bartenders make great drinks and conversation. This team delivers and beyond!!! The rooms and hotel are beyond beautiful. Super modern, casual, and chic. We could live here!! Our room had a nice sitting area along with the beautiful bathroom and bedroom; super big for Europe :) The hotel was also very quiet, especially for a city! I really couldn’t believe that we were on the 1st floor - super relaxed and quiet, but yet would go down to the bar and it was almost a different world. I really wish we could go here again, and tomorrow. Exceptional hotel, staff, food, drinks…. Really a bravo to the entire team.

Me and my friends went to Hey Guey, Chapter Roma’s rooftop bar and lounge, and I can honestly say, it was one of the best lounge bars I’ve been at. It was casual, alive and packed a hell of a view, with the Altare della Patria in clear view from the table. The food was pretty good, authentic Mexican cuisine, with very simple recipes. Everything handcrafted of course. But I was there for the cocktails, and the feel of the place. They set the tone with the Espadín mezcal copitas we were offered to start, really got the party started. After that, I had the El Sarto Spritz, with Gin, Tepache, Lime, Mate and Biancosarti. Really refreshing, and cool to see someone who cares enough to go through the tiresome process of fermenting tepache. I also had a Mira La Paloma, and Paloma being my favorite cocktail, I knew this would be amazing. A paloma with added Aperol, what could go wrong. A pleasant start to our evening, thank you very much for the experience!

Hello zetterkvist, first I'd like to thank you for the nice review. It's a nice feeling to read that everything was perfect, the food, the view and of course the drinks. I hope to see you again soon maybe before the end of the season (terrace should close by end of october) and maybe next time we'll deserve the fifth star. Enjoy your summer Jacopo Arosio General Manager

Really liked this place. Cool rooms, nice private terrace, quiet, and close to just about everything, including public transportation (which came in handy during the taxi strike). Super helpful and friendly front desk staff, better than most places I've stayed. Only negative for me is a Mexican rooftop bar - I didn't come to Rome to eat Mexican and see more Americans. Still, the shot of Mescal when you sat down was welcoming.

Hello FoodieDad2019, thanks a lot for your review and for giving us 5 stars even if you had to meet other Americans and eat tacos again. We are in love with Mexico and its food but at the same time understand what you mean. This is why we have also an Italian restaurant inside the Hotel.........just in case. Anyway I'm glad you have enjoyed your stay your stay and thanks for the special mention about the Hotel Staff, that makes me so proud of working with them. I wish you a splendid summer and hope to see you back soon at Chapter Roma Jacopo Arosio General Manager

We first stayed at Chapter Roma in 2020 and I undoubtedly would have awarded this a 5 star review back then, we returned in July 2022, excited to see the recent developments, with Hey Guey and Campocori opening up. The hotel’s really well located - in the Jewish ghetto. Most of the major landmarks are walkable and the transport links are very good with the bus stop approx 100 yards away. The hotel is beautifully designed and has a unique style - exposed brick work, high ceilings and quirky decorations. The rooms, and in particular the bed and shower, are of very high quality. The bed is firm (which I like) and the shower pressure is very good. The staff are very friendly. The reason I’ve deducted a star is due to the below: - the price has shot up (almost doubled, albeit I’m comparing July with September). I can see what the hotel are trying to do but I’m not convinced the current experience justifies the price. - Hey Guey - I’ve seen a few critical comments from other guests and I can understand the reasons. The idea is great and quirky, Mexican rooftop bar with great views, however the food and drinks simply aren’t priced correctly. This dinner was my most expensive during my stay in Rome and I was still hungry. I had to walk into Trastevere and grab a pizza later that evening. I hope the hotel can address these comments as I can see the google review rating does indicate there are areas to improve. - the main bar on the ground floor has great potential but was closed by 6/7pm on the first night. My understanding was that there was an event on and the hotel were short on staff (Campocori was also closed) - that’s fine, however if you’re not offering the same service then this should be reflected in the price. - before our trip we had originally booked a table at Campocori, however as mentioned, the restaurant was closed and we were made aware in advance of our stay. We were kindly offered complimentary drinks due to the inconvenience. No issue, these things happen. We tried to cash in on the drinks at Hey Guey however they weren’t able to process the comps on the system. Again, no issue, I paid the bill in full. The following day I reached out to reception to try and understand the best way to get the comp drinks. This is where my issue began, I felt the blonde lady on reception was actually trying to trip me up. The Hey Guey bill didn’t appear on the system (because I paid by card, and didn’t charge the room). She suggested the room would have been charged had I been at Hey Guey. I asked if she could see the bill on the system so we could see if anything had been deducted. She said there was no bill on the system. I explained that’ll be because I paid by card as Hey Guey wouldn’t have waived the entire bill. She eventually called up the staff at Hey Guey who confirmed I did pay in full and I was therefore still due the comps. It should be noted that the purpose of my visit to reception wasn’t to prove if I was still owed comps, but to work out the best way to provide the comps. I felt like the receptionist was very quick to think I was trying to con her, and had she called Hey Guey earlier on / trusted me as a hotel guest she would have seen I wasn’t. I was actually being very flexible and was merely enquiring as to the best way to exchange the comps. To be clear, I very much enjoyed my stay at Chapter Roma and I want the hotel to succeed, however I believe it’s important they’re able to address constructive feedback so that the service delivered supports the price.

Hello James, my sincere apologies if my reply reaches you just today. Finally, I am glad to read a very constructive feedback, this is the purpose of this tool called Tripadvisor. And I have to say that I agree with everything you have written but the price. The cost of a room at Chapter Roma has increased because July 2020 was the period between the first and the second pandemic. Back in 2020 we just had reopened the Hotel and we could feel the uncertainty in the air. 2022 is crazy and even if I think that we have raised the bar in terms of service and offer, I can see a space of improvement. we have received comments about the food and drinks pricing at Hey Güey and honestly speaking I think we have a very good quality for the price we ask. We have always believed in our vision "affordable luxury" and that's why we have priced the drinks and the food accordingly but overall I'd like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. Regarding your last point, it is just a matter of experience and flexibility. There were easier and quicker ways to solve the issue. Some Staff members have changed although all the Managers are leading by example doing a lot of role play just in case of a scenario like this one, more needs to be done. Thanks a lot for your flexibility and understanding. I have really appreciated the way you have handled this. We take this as a challenge, a way to prove next time that it was worth coming back to Chapter Roma. But next time please call me directly and I'll be happy to manager your reservation. I wish you best of luck and hope you'll enjoy this crazy summer Jacopo Arosio General Manager

Very cool hotel, good located, super nice staff, cool bar, cool design, nice room (with a shower in the room - if you are travelling with someone you don‘t know well it‘s probably a bit weird with a shower in the room), absolutely worth the price, super nice breakfast with some a la carte choices

Some hotels just go the extra mile with their customer service. We finally got to stay here after our original booking in March 2020 had to be postponed several times. Really loved the decor throughout the hotel, the rooms, the bathrooms and the bar area is really sumptuously done. Excellent service and really friendly staff. Hotel is in a really great area of Rome can’t recommend highly enough.

Exquisite property, fantastic location and incredibly friendly staff with amazing service. I will definitely stay here again. The location is perfect. A 5 min walk to Trastevere and 20 mins from all the best shopping spots and historic sights. I cannot emphasize enough how friendly and amazing and helpful the staff were. Georgia at the front desk gave us several helpful tips about the city. Our room was beautiful, airy and super comfortable. The shower is amazing. Our only issue was that the AC in our room was not working well and for that the hotel sent us several complimentary bottles of water, they placed a fan in our room, sent us a handwritten apology note and offered us complimentary breakfast and 50% discount on one nights stay. Stay here.. you will enjoy it.

Dear Sanam, apologies if my reply gets to you just today. It was not forgotten but I needed to work on it. I have used your review as a proof that if a complaint is handled the right way, it'll make the difference. A huge difference. Fair enough the location was fantastic and the Staff amazing but your review made me so so proud of my Staff for the way they had interactions with you. You experienced an issue with your AC which morally could be quite frustrating, especially these days that is so hot in town. But then you end your review by writing.........."stay here....you will enjoy it" and for me that is a job well done. I still would like to express my sincere apologies for the problem caused and at the same time I look forward to welcoming you back at Chapter Roma. On your next stay we'll make sure everything goes smooth. In the meantime I wish you best of luck and an amazing summer Jacopo Arosio General Manager

We loved Chapter Roma! Such a beautifully maintained boutique hotel. The lobby had great amenities throughout from the bar Hey Baby led by Marco to the amazing restaurant that just opened, Campocori. Chef Alessandro created such amazing and inventive food. Marta and Sean were a great support that made the meal even better. The front desk staff always had a smile on their face and made small talk with us as we came and went for the day. They even sent up welcome drinks and a bottle of champagne to celebrate my birthday. The room was a great mix of historic Rome with exposed bricks and modern design. My favorite part was the lounge area and bar in our room for relaxing before or after dinner. The bathroom was beautifully designed with dark terrazzo floors and brass accents. The room was huge compared to the usual small European hotel room you may often get. We were on Floor 1 and did hear noise at night but it’s a city(who cares!). We felt at home here. It was also set in a great location near the Roman ghetto,Trastevere and Tiber River. We were also able to comfortably walk to many major landmarks like the Pantheon, Trevi fountain and Colosseum. If we are ever back in Rome we will not hesitate to book this hotel again. Thank you for a great stay Chapter Roma!

First thing.. great location. Walkable to everything and trastevere is my favorite neighborhood in rome. We checked in rather late. Our room had a horrible sewage smell coming from the bathroom. We asked for them to look into it while we went to dinner. Upon returning, they had just sprayed our room with a horrible strong smelling perfume. And you could still smell the sewage. It was actually worse. They moved us but to a lower floor and it was incredibly loud. So loud we thought the windows were open but in fact, they were closed. Had a terrible nights sleep. Hotel is also very run down. Look elsewhere! It is not a 4 star hotel.
