I stayed here with my friend in June 2015 and it was the first time in Rome for the both of us. We had booked a room with two singles but ended up with a double bed, however we didn't bother changing when we were later offered as we were happy enough to top-and-tail. The rooms were so lovely -... More

I stayed here in room 3 with my wife back in early November 2014 and it was so good I'm visiting again next month. The property is small & simple but well appointed inside. Location in Trastevere is great, right by the Porta Settimana the building is supposedly where Raphael's mistress lived (La Fornarina). Despite being a lively area the... More

This is a great place to stay if you want to be close to restaurants and bars while having the city centre only a short walk away. We had a really nice, clean and spacious room, that was fairly quiet despite the window facing a busy street. I would definitely stay there again!

My wife and I stayed at Relais Casa della Fornarina in December 2013 for an 8 day stay in Rome. The only problem with this guest house is finding it. It sits on a small street about a block long in the labyrinth of Trastevere, and even locals couldnt tell us where it was when we were standing like 30... More

We stayed 3 nights here in Room 2 - huge room, spotlessly clean - very good double glazed windows - although it was pretty quiet at night. We booked the airport transfer which was faultless and very pleasant. Sonia was very helpful and came up with some great restaurant recommendations. The Relais is in a great spot in Trastevere with... More

The communal areas were very clean, as were the bedrooms/bathrooms. Furnishings were modern and well maintained. The room was big enough, but not huge. There is satellite tv, but note that no channels are completely in English if this is important to you. The use of a communal computer and printer is much appreciated, ideal for printing maps, booking Vatican... More

Clean, modern, amenable and quiet b&b in the centre of trastavere. An excellent find, with all facilities needed in the room, including safe, and cappuccino maker. For the price this was well above standard, and I felt safe here Ada solo travellers. 20 min walk to Vatican, and 20 mon down to tram 8 to trastavere station and rome airport.... More

Casa della Fornarina is a well-situated place to stay, a short walk from Ponte Sisto, which leads into the centre of Rome, from where you can reach the Centro Storica, the Vatican and the Old Town with ease. Even Trastevere is an interesting place to spend a day or two. The room was well-sized and immaculate, as well as the... More

Great find in Trastervere Rome. Great location. Trastervere is more local when compared other more touristy areas. The hotel is right smack in a the middle of a great, lively area with local bars, restaurants, shops etc. Easy access to the bus(1 min walk). The price is reasonable compared to central rome. The restaurants, bars give you a better experience... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
