Stayed here in April 2016, found it to be great value basic accommodation. It is located in a large terrace building close to transit links and popular tourist locations. The hosts are fantastic, we had a late flight in and they allowed us to check in very late in the evening. One tip is find your way to the roof...

I stayed here with my husband a week ago for a weekend in Rome. It's a guest house set up in a shared building, i found this unique and made me feel safe having to enter three different doors to get into your room. The rooms are small but you have everything you need, it's clean and affordable in an...

We spent 3 nights in that hotel. It is pretty small but absolutely enough for the city trip. It was clean and had everything we needed. The lady was very nice and tried to explain everything in english with a lot of effort ;)

When we found this place we nearly fainted as in very rough area with gangs of locals hanging about trying to intimidate you. The entrance is a door like into offices and gets more bizarre as appears to be offices??? Guy was pleasant enough but room was horrible. Tiny. Really tiny with only 1 socket we could use without pulling...

When we arrived here in the taxi, we wondered what we had actually booked. We rang the buzzer and a lady told us to come up. The guest house is on the 1st floor. We were greeted by a lady who was very informative about how to get to certain places and she also drew everything we may need on...

My mum and I stayed at Meraviglia for 3 nights. We enjoyed our stay very much here. The lady at reception was indeed very kind and helpful. Everything was clean and the room was nicely decorated as well. The place is near Termini station, which makes it easier to visit major sights in Rome if you are not keen on...

The guesthouse is in a big building with other guest houses. It is on the second floor and easy to get to, though I don't think the elevator worked. The building door is locked, though was left open several times. Luckily the security of the guesthouse itself is good- a camera records at the guesthouse front door, which is also...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

“There is a homeless man that calls the Meraviglia door as home. Doesn't look safe at night at all, even though we personally had no problems. When the taxi driver came to take us to the airport he asked: "How did you end up in this dump?" even before saying good morning.”
