The idea to open The RomeHello popped up in my mind a few years ago. Many of the international friends I had met during my own European travels would ask me for suggestions on where to find a cheap and nice place to stay in my home city of Rome. But, even after some research, I didn’t find anything fitting for them. And I thought it was senseless that a city like Rome, with all it has to offer, was kind of prohibitive for young tourists. So as my family has worked in tourism for many years, I decided to involve them in the project of opening a hostel in our city - to make it not only ours but everyone’s. Also, I decided to combine the project with my intention to do something good for the others. So I turned the hostel into a non-profit social enterprise, with the aim of changing the economic thinking of standard companies.

Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The other travelers were awesome and friendly. Hostel was very clean and rooms spacious. Bar/ restaurant underneath with great food and beer. Of all the places we stayed around Europe this was my favorite! No complaints!

I stayed there for 3 nights. I got a nice tour with Luigi. That tour was for free. I liked that tour. The hostel organized many things. Well they offer some free bread and pasta in the kitchen. I really liked the room. Everything was great.

Great hotel, good location, very helpful stuff. New rooms. Shower is a little small. If you travel as a family make sure to take the rooms with private shower, because they have rooms for individuals, that is shared rooms and showers.

Hey rubiashkenazi, We wish to thank you for choosing our Hostel and for sharing your review on TA. It always brings us joy to read that our guests actually enjoyed staying here. As per your comment about family travelers, we would like to clarify the fact that all our rooms, the private and even the shared ones, are ALL EN-SUITE (with private showers). But of course, It is always better for the families to book the private rooms for more privacy! We really look forward to welcoming you back for an even better experience :) Cheers, Maroua FO Manager

Really clean, wonderful staff, really great facilities and layout of rooms. Went on a really great walking tour. Isn't a party hostel, very chill vibe with lots of different ages. Would recommend for people who don't usually stay in hostels.
