Property's Favorite Review
Palazzo Baj is top-notch. The location is wonderful, the rooms are modern and very clean and the staff is caring and very helpful. Highly recommend a stay at Palazzo Baj. We stayed here twice, once in June and then in July and loved it even more the second time. Complimentary coffee and pastries are available all day long . It is also within easy walking distance to some superb Trastevere restaurants, including our favorite - da Enzo 29.

It was our first time in Italy from the US. My wife and I were nervous about getting from the rail to the guest room but the host was in constant communication from the time of booking. She made sure we knew how to get to the guest house then helped us book tours and massages at all our desired times at great rates prior to our arrival.
She then met us in person upon our arrival. The room was the perfect size for a couple. Very cozy and comfortable. A bottle of Italian wine and snacks were awaiting. We spent the first 2 hours just enjoying the room, the snacks, and the wine.
From the room we were able to walk to every attraction in the city. We are in our 20s and willing to walk some distance but it was very reasonable. The Vatican, Roman forum, colleseum and the Trevi fountain (to name a few) are all easy walks. The rooms also sit directly on the scenic river which we really enjoyed.
There are SEVERAL restaurants within close proximity of the rooms and the host was gracious enough to book reservations for us for every night of our stay. The free breakfast that is included with the stay is also perfect. Local cafes that provide fresh coffee and pastries. We felt we were getting the real Roman experience. There is also a mini cafe available in the common area of the guest house that provides espresso and coffee for a convenient pick me up any time of day. Not to mention the desserts that are refreshed daily and so good.
When it was time to leave, the hostess helped us book a taxi to the airport at our desired time. Everything was comfortable and non-eventful which is exactly what you want on an international trip.
We will absolutely stay at the Palazzo Baj Guest House in Tastevere the next time we travel to Rome.

If you are looking for a modern guesthouse with all the comforts of home, don’t look any further. Palazzo Baj rooms are perfectly furnished with pillow top mattress beds and renovated spotless bathrooms. The common area has fresh baked desserts and coffee, tea, books and wine. Laura, the proprietor, is the perfect hostess, warm and caring and very helpful with suggestions for local restaurants and sights. Located in the heart of Trastevere, it will definitely be our choice whenever we are in Rome.

This room is even better than advertised. The rooms are outfitted with quality materials, and the location is impossible to beat. It's right on the river and there's the cutest little square with restaurants and bars full of locals that's about a 90 second walk away. Also Trastavere is the best neighborhood if you want an East Village type vibe.
And the owner is incredible. There was a mixup with my booking and in fact my room hadn't been booked but SHE ACCOMODATED ME ANYWAY. Truly above and beyond. Thank you.
One advice: if you are very sensitive to street noise, bring earplugs. I imagine this will be true about a lot of Trastavere, but in this particular location there is street noise from revellers returning home and cars. It's not terrible, there wasn't crazy honking or large trucks, but there was sound.

I booked this trip on impulse having read lots of positive reviews about this great value guest house, without having researched other options, and the gamble paid off! It is in a wonderful location in the lovely Trastevere neighbourhood but in easy walking distance to the main tourist sites. In fact everything was easily walkable. The staff were really helpful giving a personalised service and local tips. We really enjoyed the breakfast service which allowed us to eat at various different local cafes using a breakfast token - which meant we sampled the delicacies of different places and got a feel of the local area rather than being too touristy. The quality of the produce at the local cafes was very good and much better than the normal run of the mill options you get in most hotels. We would love to return one day and would definitely recommend this place for anyone going to Rome. We send all our best wishes to the staff at this difficult time for Italy and encourage travellers to support the guest house going forward.

Palazzo Baj is conveniently located in Rome's Trastevere Neighborhood. Instead of staying in Centro Storico (the historical downtown), cross the Tiber River to Trastevere where you'll find better value and easy access to hundreds of attractions.
A beautiful 20 minute walk from Palazzo Baj will take you to the Pantheon. 20 minutes in the other direction and you'll be at the Colosseum. But there is plenty to see (and eat) in Trastevere; one block behind the hotel is one of my favorite restaurants called Le Mani in Pasta - check it out!
Since Palazzo Baj is a small boutique hotel, they do not have a full kitchen area. To make up for this they give you a number of tokens that can be exchanged for breakfast at the neighborhood cafes. It was an awesome way to try out a new cafe each day. I would absolutely recommend Palazzo Baj for your next trip to Rome!

I was visiting friends in Trastevere and this was perfect for me. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom/shower were perfect. The hostess was very cordial and there were snacks, tea and coffee waiting for me in the lobby area as I had to leave very early for the airport.

Such a great guest house. The location is only around a 15/20min walk to the colosseum and into town. But you don’t need to go into town as the best food and restaurants are behind the guesthouse in Trastevere. This area is super trendy and better than the busy city centre.
There are only 4 rooms in this little guesthouse and there’s also a little common area where you always find FREE freshly baked goods and coffee.
The rooms are beautiful and very modern, they also have a good mini bar with decent prices plus free coffee and tea. The bed and fillies are also fantastic. The owner is also super helpful with recommendations on where to eat. Just keep in mind that all rooms face onto kinda busy road and although the room window have great sound proof glass you can still hear a bit of traffic and people walking past at night. I woke one night to people playing music in this car but I can be a light sleeper. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel. It has such cute Italian vibe which is what you want when in Rome.

Thank you so much Dave for your review, it makes me feel the vibrant energy and personality of Trastevere and Palazzo Baj identity. It remains in the heart of the structure and the food is stored in it so that it has many aspects of our accompaniment. I'm looking forward to new things soon in Roma!

Palazzo Baj is situated in the lively and sociable Trastevere district. And therefore plenty of nice bars and good restaurants, not more than a 5 minute walking distance from the Palazzo. Furthermore Palazzo Baj is comfortable, clean and cosy. Rooms are spacious enough and thoroughly cleaned on a daily base. Shower, bathroom and toilet are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is in a nice bar just a minute away. Small snacks and cakes are available in the Palazzo. The mini-bar is up to standards and quality wines can be purchased (for fair prices) at the Palazzo. The beautiful, lovely and very sympathetic host Laura is helpful and approachable for requests and information. Definitely worth a visit. I know for sure that I will book my next stay here.

If you're going to stay in Rome, my advice would be to stay here in Palazzo Baj! The location in Trastevere is great, right next to the Tiber River. It is also surrounded by some of the best Cafes & Restaurants in Rome. The Palazzo Baj Guesthouse itself is wonderful, the room was spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed & a fantastic shower and also lots of amenities like drinks & snacks. There is also a Lounge Area where you can enjoy a coffee with some lovely homemade cakes while reading a book.
Laura, the host is a joy to deal with & is so helpful. We needed to get a COVID Test completed the day before we left & Laura was so helpful in organising this for us. When we return to Rome, we will again stay in the fantastic Palazzo Baj.

Public transport (train). Affordable (approx. 7 Euro), safe, clean and fast. Get off the train at Trasteverre Station and take a taxi from there (approx. 10 Euro). Enjoy your stay!
Dear Jane we have one floor and 4 suites in total with a lounge common area. The city view looks across the river toward Circo Massimo and Roman forum. In fact we are located in Lungotevere Ripa in front of Tiber Island. We have a minibar in each room with a kettle station and many other amenities. Thanks for your interest.
Hi, no the child can sleep in the same bed. We can provide a cot but not an extra bed. I stay available for further info.
Best
Laura
In the room I had the beds were either queen or king size, definitely not a double size and very comfy.
Hope this helps
Hi, we have 2 Superior rooms and two Suites that are both equipped with air conditioning, minibar, Smart flat TV, parquet and ensuite bathroom with a large shower.
