Neighborhood
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Food - We only had the breakfast but it was lovely! Its in the basement but the selection is very good. Buffet style, Fresh meats, salmon, fruit, 3 types of cereal, cheeses, youghurts and then warm bacon, sausage, hash browns, scrambled egg, pastrys, bread etc. They had a blood orange juice which was lovely! along with pineapple, bottled water and the usual tea coffee etc. The staff down in the morning couldnt do enough for you! Very pleasent! We went down each morning around 7:30-8am and it was never busy full, always plenty free tables. Location - I would say its a little out for the direct centre but not much. Its around a 15-20 min walk to trevi fountain area which has alot of the resturants and shops etc. Its all downhill going there but obviously coming back there is a steepish hill for about 5 mins. We walked everywhere during our 3 day break so obviously that extra 15 min on a night getting back was a little annoying but hey ho, not the end of the world. There is a bus stop pretty much outside the hotel which takes you to all the busy areas for 1:50 euro. We walked from the main train station and its around a 10-15 min walk. Followed google maps easy enough. There is a gelato ice cream plce opposite. Must try! Wasnt noisey on a night or anything either. Hotel - Hotel is probably aimed at couples as the main customer. Very romantic feel to the hotel. I would recomend a room at the front facing onto the main road. High up maybe level 3 above with a balcony. We were very excited to use the spa in the hotel and hot tub but its out of order. Asked the staff and they are waiting on a part. Little bit annoying as we had picked this hotel on little things like this but appreciate its out the hotels hands as they were waiting for the part from overseas!. Would probably say its trying to become a 5* which in time i think it wouldnt be far off truthfully. Room - We stayed in a suite on the top floor, upgraded room (level 5). It was a good room, fairly spacious, no bath unfortauntely just the shower. The Bathroom door wouldnt lock or even close tight. There was a mini fridge which was usual hotel expensivness and not included. A nice queen bed which was lovely and large TV. Room had a balcony which was nice but not the metal one. It was just a wall which i think the metal barrier balconys look nicer. (bit petty i know). Robes and slippers provided free also. The room safe was big enough to get a go pro bag in and that was about it. A laptop wouldnt fit i dont think... Hair dryer in bathroom and towels changed daily. Service - Cant fault the service of any memeber of staff. Always said hello, greated you, and couldnt do enough for you. :) We had a free bottle of water in our room with compliments of the hotel onthe first night but it ended there. No free bottle for the other days which for the upgraded suite room would have cost them much. Would recommend the hotel. We like modern ish, stylish hotels and alot in rome seem to be very old fashioned etc. This had everything we wanted really with a modern feel. Shame about the hot tub but these things are unplaned and out of the hotels control. Thanks for our stay guys!

Myself and a friend had the pleasure of staying at Leon’s place when we visited Rome for 4 nights. Immediately on arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady called Mathilde who helped us check in and made sure we knew where to look if we needed anything. The hotel is located very central in Rome and you can get to the Rome Termini (main train station) in around a 10 minute walk and to the Colloseum in around 25. Due to the great location it was very easy to check out many eateries and we were lucky enough to live outside a lovely Gellato place. A top place all around! Thank you to the Staff from the receptionist to the cleaners who were all lovely and served us with a smile at all times.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights with my partner. The decor in the main reception is exquisite & funky & the staff made our check in quick & hassle free- which was really good. The reason why I only rated it 3 stars is because compared to other 4 star hotels ive stayed in this one had to be the most ‘meh’. Our room was okay, the English TV channels weren’t the greatest and the room itself compared to the rest of the hotel was underwhelming. The staff that cleaned our room did an amazing job and they even checked to see whether we wanted our room cleaned the next day when we had a lie in. So yes, overall not bad but not amazing.

We stayed in Leon’s Place Hotel for 4 nights and the friendly, customer focussed and informative staff made our stay at the hotel extra special. This was our first visit to Rome and this hotel was recommended by a friend who stayed there in April and we will most certainly recommend to our friends and family too. The reception staff, concierge, bar and restaurant staff and housekeeping were all professional and provided an excellent service. In fact each member of staff provided their own professional uniqueness providing excellent conversation, transport/ walking route advice as well as recommending local traditional restaurants nearby. We were in a Junior Suite which was beautifully decorated with ornate furniture and plenty of mirrors. 2 usb charging sockets have also need fitted so there was no need for the adaptor and twin socket to charge our mobile phones etc. Bathroom had marble flooring and a powerful shower within the bath. An outstanding hotel based in a great location.

A few days in Rome and found this amazingly eclectic boutique hotel. Wonderful for what we wanted. Base to do Rome and while it says just 10 mins from the train station reckon closer. Beautiful hotel and very quirky, see some of the pics. The welcome was fabulous and the room was perfect. Only a standard room but plenty of space and a very comfortable bed. Location may concern but for us was perfect. First evening a stroll to the Spanish steps and Trevi (20 mins). Day 2 full on and walked to the Colosseum (35 mins) with some stops on route and then to St Peters Square and a lovely walk back through the Villa Borghese Gardens from Piazza Popolo (favourite). Bit of a walk but worked for us as a nice part of Rome and the most AMAZING Gelato bar across the road. Also if you want the Metro, it’s really close. Recommend this place. Fab!
