We booked Blue Hostel for four nights after reading all the reviews and absolutely were not disappointed. We booked the Vatican City Elite Walking Tour through the hostel as well and had an incredible morning there. The only thing is that the price of it can't be found on the hostels website (it was 63 euro per person, through the...

We just spend 5 very pleasurable days at the Blue Hostel's apartment. The location is perfect with all major sites as well as the train station in easy walking distance. The apartment is decorated tastefully with nicely refurbished wooden floor and ceiling. The street is noisy but the windows are excellent and closing them keeps all the noise out. Having...

I don't like hostels: you can't sleep properly and you have no privacy. But following a recommendation I booked here and loved it!! Much better than a lot of hotels I've stayed in! I had the best night's sleep, it's in a great location (just 15 mins from the Colosseum) and the wifi is good. The only improvement I'd recommend...

Stayed here for 5 nights. It was a very cozy room and clean. Easy walking distance to major sites. Andrea was extremely friendly and gave us a warm welcome. The staff responded quickly to any concerns we had, gave us advice, and helped book tours. The only downside is there are a lot of stairs if you have heavy bags...

I booked this based on the reviews I read here and I wasn't disappointed! Andrea the manager is extremely nice and speaks wonderful English. He even gave me his cell number (free texts over wifi!) in case we needed to get in touch with him. A bit strange that there is no front desk, but Andrea will be there to...

Blue Hostel lived up to its reviews. Great staff, really helpful with some wonderful recommendations. Room was clean and lovely. Coffee machine was an added bonus. No English tv channels though - not that we needed them. Great value for money.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
