An amazing experience. Rooms are charming, immaculate and comfortable. Paola, the manager, as well as his team went up and beyond to make sure my groups experience was perfect. They accommodated us in every way possible. They arranged things for our party at a local restaurant and took the time to deliver the flowers and party favors as well. One of the best experiences I have had while traveling. I felt part of the family.
The Hotel Monte Cenci is a small boutique-like hotel located just near the Jewish Ghetto, super convenient to a variety of attractions (we walked to Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Circus Maximus, and would ha e walked to the Coliseum had we had time before our tour departed). The rooms are moderate though more than adequate in size, the toilets are generous sized, both are very clean, and everything is modern and up to date. The air conditioning worked very well. I can't say enough positive things about the entire staff, who were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. There is a new bar (which we didn't use), and breakfast is served in the rooftop garden. The hotel is extremely accommodating to those who are Kosher and Shabbat observant (including non-electronic keys), and the hotel is near a main street that seems to have plenty of bus transportation. It was a very enjoyable 4 night stay and we would return to this hotel again. …
Hotel Monte Cenci is such a gem. It’s a small hotel and you will feel like Paolo and his team are welcoming you into their home. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. The rooftop terrace is our favorite for breakfast or sitting in the evening for a drink. And most importantly, the staff here is Nordstroms level. They don’t miss a thing and are top notch. We needed a dinner reservation but it was already a Friday evening. Paolo called somewhere and made us a reservation in his name, gave me a business car and I walked in and handed it to them and they treated us like royalty for dinner. I’m pretty sure my husband will never stay at another hotel in Rome, we just love it.
An elegant small hotel close to the main attractions in Rome. Just lovely. Service top notch. And the owner Paolo a Rome enthusiast knows and will tell you about Rome. He and his staff are knowledgeable and so very accommodating. I have never had staff walk me to the room snd explain all the amenities! A very lovely place and experience. We will go back.
And to think I almost canceled our stay based on some previous reviews! We stayed in a 4th floor room w an outdoor terrace. Yes the room is smaller but typical of many European hotel rooms. We found the room clean, well appointed, & comfortable. And the staff! Every person we came in contact w was professional & so accommodating. And Paolo! He was so kind to reserve a table at Taverna Trilusa. We had such a wonderful meal & such lovely ambiance. Of course the construction next door is a factor for some people but we requested a quieter room & we had no problems w noise. Thanks to all the staff! You are a great crew & I truly hope we can try soon!!!
This hotel and its' staff exceeded all expectations from beginning to end. The hotel is very neat. clean and comfortable rooms with a nice roof-top terrasse that's open most hours. We spent late hours there aswell as having breakfast. The service is outstanding. The entire staff as friendly and accommodating as ever. I have only good words. The Location is right next to the Old Jewish Ghetto.
Rooms in need os a makeover, very little space, a roof terrace that is used as a breakfast room, cold in November and with construction work going on, not a pleasant experience. Reception staff didn’t show any interest in us as guest, could at least have asked if we had a nice stay when we checked out
When I checked in with 3 couples in my party the front desk clerk was sharp and not very helpful. As the porter now was taking me to my room with the luggage, he is speaking Italian to the desk clerk telling her that the shower/tub in my assigned room was not working (the drain did not work and very dangerous approach to shower- about 3’ deep tub. She in Italian told him not to worry about it. Little did they suspect that I speak Italian. Not wanting to make a scene, I stayed in room, jumped over the walls of the tub and endured a shower filled with 6” of water all night long. Just a sad commentary on the state of hospitality in Italy today.
The main problem (as of October 2022) : there is construction right across the road which is @10m wide, that starts every morning including weekends, at 7am (not on Sunday, thankfully). No one at the time of booking, or during my communication with the hotel announced that - not fair. The noise was TERRIBLE. Finding the hotel - the building has no sign but it is on the corner, so just follow the building numbers. Area is ok, close to the river, but now is very unclean. The rooms are ok size. They unscrewed a few lamps to cancel lighting in the room - looks terrible. Bathroom is big. Water pressure is okish, but not great. When someone else opens the tap in another room - water pressure drops dramatically and hot water can become real cold, so be mindful. Towel dryer is connected to electricity but not working. Shower amenitites (soap etc) are of the lowest quality. Elevator is SUPER scary and the door gets stuck 4 times out of 5. Reception staff is polite but not efficient. There is aircon individually controlled in the room. Not sure how it copes in hot weather, but makes no noise. Wardrobe is super small and badly built. Breakfast is bad, just bad. It is served on the roof in half-closed veranda, Mornings in October are very chilly even when the day is super sunny. I don't find it comfy coming out for the breakfast into 15 degrees Celsius. What was also very peculiar - the hotel charged us at the check-in. So it gives an impression that the hotel doesn't really care after they got their money. At the check-out they only charge you the city tax (which is now up to 6Eur from 1.5Eur). …
Excellent staff, great location and beautiful room. Would highly recommend. Clean, bright, and close to all the major attractions. Great for couples or single travellers. Roof top patio was lovely. Updated rooms and great breakfast buffet.
