I prepaid a non-refundable rate for 4 nights at this hotel back in January of 2020 to travel in April of 2020. No one could have seen the pandemic coming and obviously, we were not able to travel In April and the hotel was closed anyway. I realize that I booked a non-refundable rate but the hotel could not honor their commitment either as they were closed. I never asked for a refund. I just asked that they honor my almost $1500.00 for whenever we could travel. From the beginning, they told me that they would change my dates but for an additional fee. Because of the unexpected and unending nature of this pandemic, I asked the hotel to move my dates a few times and they did but again, requesting an additional penalty which I did not pay unless they guaranteed me that there would be no additional charges. They never gave me this guarantee. I have since rescheduled my trip for April of 2022 and I communicated with the hotel in July of 2021 and the answer from Paolo was the would get back to me. He finally answers 4 months later on 11/24/21 after I sent a follow up email and tells me that he will not honor my reservation in 2022 and can't make any "exceptions". He stated that he had changed my dates multiple times which is true but he shouldn't have taken over 4 months to answer only to tell me he's keeping my money. I had originally booked 3 other hotels in Italy and all have been extremely accommodating and understanding. I truly understand that I booked a non-refundable rate but the hotel could not honor it's commitment either because they were closed at the time of the original reservation. They should have refunded my money right then. I still don't want a refund, I just want them to honor the nights I have already paid them. Paolo did offer me a discounted rate for my future travel which was nothing short of insulting. This is terrible business practice and I would caution future travelers.…
My daughter and I just spent 8 nights at the Monte Cenci and loved it. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful from breakfast service to the front desk staff who helped with restaurant reservations, transportation and COVID testing. It was lovely to be greeted when we came back to the hotel every night and asked about our day. The hotel is charming and the location is perfect in a quiet, quaint corner of Trestevere but very convenient to all of the major sites in Rome. We will never forget our time in Rome and our stay at the Monte Cenci.
We spend our honeymoon at the hotel Monte Cenci and it was a superp experiance! The staff was super service minded and super friendly! The hotel manager Paulo was super helpful showing us some of Romes hidden gems and helped us with dinner reservations at superp restaurants!
Very nice hotel. Centrally located near must Rome attractions and Trestevere neighborhood. Our room was in excellent condition. Big bathroom for Europe standard. Great and complete breakfast in the rooftop. Service and employee's attention are above normal. Great service.
We just spent 4 nignts at this charming hotel and we were extremely satisfied with our stay. The location is very central and close to many attractions, the room was very quiet, the bed and the pillows were super confortable, the breakfast was excellent and the most important thing of all: the complete staff is incredible and always goes above and beyond to assist in any way they can. We travel a lot and it is rare to find such a friendly staff in a big city. Everybody was kind, smiling, patient, helpful and they went out of their way to make sure that we had a memorable experience…and we did. Special thanks to Andreea, Elisa, Shary and the manager Paolo.
