Hotel Degli Artisti boasts a host of comfortable amenities, including a well-received rooftop bar and updated bathrooms, although it's noted that room sizes may be compact. The service garners compliments for friendliness and helpfulness, despite isolated reports of unprofessional conduct. Guests consistently commend the hotel's cleanliness and the tranquil atmosphere of its modern rooms and marble bathrooms.
Ideally situated, the hotel offers easy access to Rome's famed Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. However, concerns about value are noted, with some guests feeling the experience doesn't justify the cost.

Detailed Reviews
Our family of 6 stayed at this boutique hotel for four nights during our trip to Italy last summer. We chose this hotel based on its location and amenities and we were not disappointed. The hotel is situated on a quiet street near Barbarini Square which has a metro stop and taxi stand. It is a ten minute walk to the Spanish Steps and Trevi fountain.
The hotel itself is beautiful and modern. The rooms are larger than rooms we stayed in other hotels while on our trip with nice bathrooms and very comfy beds. The rooms were quiet due to its location and excellent soundproofing between rooms.
The breakfasts were in the lower section of the hotel with indoor and outdoor seating. The food was good and we never had to wait for a table. We particularly enjoyed the rooftop bar where we would gather for drinks before heading out to dinner.
The staff at the hotel were both helpful and friendly. One of our daughters left her retainer in the room and the hotel staff found it and shipped it back to the United States along with a few other items we had left and not realized.
One downside was in the evenings the front desk struggled to get us taxis to get to our dinners. Sometimes we would have to wait 30 minutes. The staff tried their best to get them, but they just had a hard time getting them there. I am not sure if it was because of the location of the hotel or if it is just difficult to get taxis at that time of day.
Overall, this was an exceptional stay for us and would definitely stay here again.

I do not do eulogies nor reviews. It makes one look uncritical and slightly sycophantic. However every now and then you have to recognise excellence. So here we go! The service the hotel offers began with out arrival at the airport. Our itinerary wrongly said we were at T1 we were at T3. They phoned us and then guided driver and guests together. ( Tip - order a car via them. It cost about 20 euros over the cab and was worth every cent to be whisked from airport to hotel). The staff never fell below this exacting standard. From top to bottom they helped and advised, going the extra mile.
Then there is the hotel and location. In terms of location, 10 mins to Borghese Gardens and less to the Spanish Steps, yet in a quiet location away from the mob. I understand the hotel was a convent, I would not say the rooms were cells, there were more than adequate but not sumptuous. But.......they have a roof bar and terrace and a sun deck and jacuzzi one floor up. In a hot, sticky city this is a godsend. This is pretty unusual in Rome ( we are Brits and go abroad to Europe 2 to 3 times a year). It made a lot of difference to have somewhere outside to relax after tramping the streets. (Tip - the Rooms at the front on floor three overlook gardens and you are spared the standard city scape or backs of buildings.) The hotel was well kept, clean and modern. My only criticism (I had to get one in!), The fruit at breakfast (in the courtyard) was limited and a bit uninspired.
We will only use this hotel in Rome.

Amazing experience with the staff and hotel itself. All front desk concierge were pleasant and helpful from day 1 - they made an effort for you to enjoy your stay with great recommendations in each part of the city. The jacuzzi on the roof top was perfecto - reserve a time and enjoy you have the roof top to yourself with an amazing view of Rome. The rooms were always cleaned spotlessly with no interruptions by staff. They tried their best to make your stay feel like home! The location is perfect just a couple blocks from some major must-see venues! Grazie mille

« + » 1) the rooms are very new and cozy
2) the location is perfect
3) if you are not asking for anything special, you will receive very polite and helpful attitude of the staff
« - « 1) the receptionist Virginia made my husband and sons pay for an extra room to be allowed to go upstairs to spend 1 hour in my room before their flight; the motivation was that it was not a 5* hotel that would allow my husband and sons enter for an hour the room that I booked for 4 nights unless they pay for it. even when we agreed to pay, first thing she offered us the most expensive room at the hotel at 600 euro (booking.Com and hotel website price for the same room and date were much lower), second thing she suggested us to pay the rate of 270 euro for the basic room category (booking.Com and hotel website price for the same room and date were 134,50 euro)
2) the hotel is very small with 0 sound proof rooms, so every morning started exactly at 8 am with a super loud noise of room maids’ trolley getting off the elevator
3) the « do not disturb » sign on the door doesn’t guarantee that no one will enter your room unless you particularly ask about it at the reception

This hotel is a rare find in Rome being well located on a QUIET street. We faced a seminary and enjoyed the view their verdant gardens.
The rooms are attractive albeit Rome sized but they had room to swing the proverbial cat. The facilities and breakfast were good. The latter enjoyed in an attractive room with the opportunity for outdoor breakfasting in good weather. There is also a roomy roof terrace that would provide lovely views of Rome over a drink in season. Too chilly to be enjoyed during our stay. A couple of requests were fully met by efficient staff and this was much appreciated. Maybe an upgrade of the lounge/ bar area and some minor maintenance of small items readily visible to staff ( window catch ; toilet flush) in the room (405) would improve this already great hotel.

Just had a wonderful two night stay in this beautiful hotel as part of our multi centre trip around Italy, this hotel is immaculate and the rooms are very nicely decorated with a fabulous shower room. The breakfast was perfect to start the day available either on the terrace or in the downstairs breakfast room. Great location only 10/15 min walk to the Spanish steps and trevi fountain or the villa Borghese gardens. A short taxi ride to further sights which the hotel are happy to arrange. A perfect terrace on the roof with sun loungers and a hot tub or lots of comfortable seating in the shade with a great little bar open from 4pm daily offering a selection of refreshments and a great choice of cocktails. All the staff are most friendly, definitely recommend. Thanks

Nice Hotel. Nice rooms, large size for european standards. Very clean and elegant. Good location and staff is superb, specially Sandra. Super friendly, always ready to help with a smile and solve little problems. The girls at the breakfast cafeteria are also very friendly and bring us many delicious cappuccinos with a big smile. Highly recommended.

An ok hotel in a good location. Employees are all very nice. But they won’t give you an iron to iron your clothes. They make you iron in the hall lobby. It was very weird, uncomfortable and a real pain. Every morning I had to get dressed into something before showering and bring my clothes down to the lobby and iron them. It was utterly ridiculous. They wouldn’t bring me the iron and wait outside the door for me to finish ironing. Said they couldn’t give me an iron because it was a fire hazard. They made me bring mine and my wife’s clothes downstairs and iron while people walked all around me. Rooms are ok. Not great, not terrible. Bathrooms are very tiny. Rooftop bar was very nice. Liked the location. Breakfast was good. Probably not stay here again though.

I stayed there early August for 2 nights; hotel is centrally located (extremely close to all sights, Scalinata, Fontana di Trevi, Pantheon, piazza Barberini etc.), you need some min walk to reach almost everything. Very quiet and comfortable boutique hotel, safe, cosy, extremely clean and in line with all Covid regulations and restrictions. Elegant and well-designed rooms with view.....the terrace is also very nice, we had our coffee and drinks in the afternoon as we had a bss meeting. Staff is very polite and friendly, I used also the taxi-service from and to the airport (Fiumicino), as well my colleagues. I have visited Rome 3-4 times at the past, I have to say this was the best accommodation I had in all sectors, competely valued for money....I strongly recommend it either for business or personal trips and I surely stay there again soon!

We stayed here for four nights in a classic room. The rooms are spotlessly clean with modern bathrooms although rather on the small side and cluttered with too much furniture. The hotel is well positioned and within walking distance of shops, restaurants, the buses and the famous spanish steps. Unfortunately some of the reception staff let the place down with their unhelpful and unwelcoming attitude. It seemed that they were totally disinterested in the guests experience and enjoyment. That same attitude prevailed from the chap running the roof top bar. Pity really as the rooftop bar could have been a nice social area but nobody used it. The buffet breakfast was adequate rather than spectacular. For the price paid we felt there could have been much better service and facilities on offer.

Dear Emilia S,
Thank you for contacting us.
Regarding your kind request, our rooftop is typically always open for seating, but please note that the availability of bar service may vary depending on the weather.
Best regards,
I would call the hotel.
Dear Amanda,
I would like to inform first that the hotel has a dozen of stairs to overcome at the entrance, but since there is a stair lift I believe it is not an issue; once inside you will find an elevator.
Tim
Yes. Lovely hotel, quiet and friendly staff!
I don't know about Christmas openings. When we stayed with Hotel Degli Artisti, they recommended a local restaurant Restorante Tullio in Via di S. Nicola da Tolentino, 26, 00187 Roma RM, Italy. It was excellent and happy to recommend it.
