I wish I could give this place no stars. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. The man at the front counter said he would let us stay for 70 euros. We gave him the money and said ok. even tho we eatch only had 5 euros left after because my boyfriend said while we were walking looking for hotels ppl tried to pick pocket him at least 5 times in about 30 min! So I was a little worried and we went back to this hotel since it was close to where we were. After giving him cash for the room he asked for our passports. We handed them over and then he said there was an extra tourist tax and it would be 12.50 euros. We told him we couldn't afford it we only had 10 left and needed to eat. He just kept arguing with us. I showed him my 5 euros and laid it on the counter and said look that's all I have. He kept arguing then we said just give our money back we will go somewhere else he WOULD NOT GIVE OUR MONEY BACK! we just kept telling him we couldn't afford the room give our money back and we will go somewhere else. Meanwhile he is saying that he gave us a deal and the we came in twice To ask about prices. It's just 12.50 more. While we were arguing he stole the 5 euros off the counter and kept saying we paid 70. We noticed and said no we paid 75 now. just give our money back. He said he didn't take the 5 then after about 10 min of that he finally gave it back but still WOULDN'T GIVE OUR 70 BACK! So since the streets were so crime ridden and had no money for another room somewhere else we had to take the room since he wouldn't give our money back. Never go to this hotel. If I knew how to report this I would. O did I mention I said I was going to call the cops and he said no I will and made a pretend phone call to the police who never showed up hmmm. O and the room was dirty things were broken and the bed sucked.

Usually I never leave any negative comments about the places which I visited but for ""hotel"" I have to make exception. And this is not about lack of hot water after 8:30 am or interior from fifthies. i wouldn't make also fuss about wifi not working for all week. These are just a small nuisance which I still would tolerate in a budget hotel. But when the night porter was trying to prevent me from bringing a bag of grapes to my room I was more then shocked. Apparently they have such a hotel policy not allowing to bring any food to your room bought outside. And it doesn't matter is a take away kebab or local fruits. It only shame they don't mention it during check-in or on their website. After a long negotiation the night porter generously agreed me to take my fruits to the room. But first he advised me to eat all of them downstairs instead of taking them upstairs! Even more shocked I was later on when the same person asked me how is my room cleaned? First I was thinking that he is asking me about my opinion about their housekeeping standards. But actually he asked me had I cleaned my room after my consumtion of the fruits befor a housekeeper will come???!!! Even John Cleese writting the script for Fawlty Towers wouldn't make a bigger joke! Unfortunatelly for me there was nothing to laught at. It was my the secon night and already my stay was ruined. Paradoxically lack of wifi in my room stopped me to cancel the rest of my stay and book somewhere else. When you are the hotel guest you don't expect to be treated like a unwelcome intruder trying to bring to the hotel '' illigal products'' like grapes or bananas. So advise for the owner is to reconsider his hotel policy and retrain or recruit the new night team member. Without proffessional good manners and lack of any common sense it is impossibile to work in hospitality at the front desk . The other two reception team members were nice and helpful but you never know how they would react seeing me bringing some fruit to the hotel. At least the ensuite room was quite big and comfortable. Breakfast was ok until some items from the buffet didn't run out. After it were never refill. For sure I will never stay there again. In Napoli it is a loads of other B&B for a similar confort and price also around Piazza Garibaldi. I have visited lots of different hotel from budget till 3-4 stars and I had never had similar negative experience like in Clarean Hotel

Its a cheap room so you get what you pay for, the plus is the location - its fab and is only a 3 min walk away to the Napoli Centrale Train station which is why i booked this hotel to use as a base travelling to Rome / Pompeii / Sorrento. HOWEVER, be prepared to get little sleep, the air con is noisy, the area is scruffy and there are street traders directly outside the hotel, its not a nice area but i never felt unsafe. My advise is to book somewhere outside of Naples as i wasnt impressed, i walked to the National Geographic Museum to see the Pompeii stuff (amazing) and Napoli isnt a very pretty place. Lack of sleep, noise inside the hotel (small hotel so you hear every conversation) together with the noise outside the hotel means I wont be coming back to Naples again - Italy Yes but not Naples.

We stayed at this hotel for 4nights and used it as a base for sleeping only whilst travelling around Vesuvius/Ercolano and Sorrento. The location is a 5 minute walk from the train/tram station. The hotel is exactly what you want- friendly staff, decent continental pastries and a safe hotel. I would go again if I was using this as a base ton travel from but not necessarily to enjoy the luxuries of hotel life.

We arrived in the morning so we asked if we could leave our luggage at the front desk. They accepted but we later realized that they just left it between the elevator and the front desk, where everyone could see it and steal it especially as there is not always staff around. Next we asked if we could use the bathroom before checking in so they let us use the bathroom in the lobby. We saw a HUGE COACKROACH of 3 inches in there so we complained and they took us to an other bathroom downstairs that was dirty and spider nets all around. Since we didn't want to waste time finding another hotel, we decided to stay. The hallway has been remodelled and the doors have an electronic lock system (that is the only good thing about the hotel). Our bathroom was dirty and old, we saw hair on the toilet, and there was dust everywhere in the room, although the had told us our room had been cleaned by the staff. The neighborhood is creepy and the receptionist is rude. Breakfast is free but disgusting
