The location and views are the best in Napoli - a city I adore. Unfortunately the staff must have had a bad day when we visited because the customer service was a true comedy of errors. For example, there was a door in the room that I opened- and found myself staring at the strangers in the room next to ours - luckily they simply looked shocked but did not panic when they suddenly saw a stranger; the staff forgot to lock the connecting door. Unfortunately this is just one of many examples of what went wrong. If I were paying 100 or 200 euros per night, these would be little details but at 680 euros per night, one expects things to work. Sadly I will never dare to visit this hotel again.

Grand old hotel located across from the marina on the southern tip of the city. I spent two nights here with my wife upon our arrival to Naples and the last night at The Parker. In comparing the two I definitely preferred Vesuvio. The public spaces and the rooms are definitely dated (the room was very comfortable and bed and sheets terrific) but the rooftop terrace is sleek and modern (stunning views) and the restaurant was gorgeous with great atmosphere and excellent food. The breakfast buffet was also top notch. Service in the hotel was very friendly. What I liked most about this hotel was the location and it takes a little time in Naples to appreciate that. The prime touristic areas are about a 45 minute power walk, or a short cab ride, away. But those areas have narrow streets and are teeming with people. It's so hectic at times and a little claustrophobic. Returning to the hotel was very relaxing a breath of fresh air. It's a much wealthier residential area and there are several very nice restaurants and cafes next door filled in the evenings with young professionals. There is a taxi stand a block away and the large promenade where the hotel is located is blocked from most car traffic and has a like ten large restaurants/cafes with outdoor seating overlooking the bay and filled with locals. All are great for lunch or dinner or an aperitif or nightcap. In comparison with Parkers, while hotel, public spaces and rooms are much nicer, the location is not ideal. There are no restaurants or cafes within an easy walking there is really only one way to get to and from the museum etc. and it's not a nice street to walk on in either direction. Also they do not have a breakfast buffet - breakfast is served in their upstairs bar/lounge and it's not a great experience. I wish I had spent my last night at Vesuvio too.

This is our preferred hotel in Naples due to its fantastic position overlooking the castle however it’s not perfect. Check in was fine and although we requested early check in this was not available and our rooms not ready until 3 pm. Our rooms were on the 7th floor and had a lovely sea view terrace. Unfortunately the chairs on the terrace were not comfortable and suitable for a morning coffee type duration……until you discover no tea or coffee making facilities in the room! Ringing down to reception we ordered coffee, a chargeable extra, and requested a nespresso machine only to be told that wasn’t instantly available. The room only had an over bath shower making it difficult to enter due to the bath height and surrounding glass enclosure. We enquired if a room with a separate shower was available but informed this was only in lower level, lesser rooms. On our second night we tried to make a reservation in the hotel restaurant for dinner only to be told that the restaurant was fully booked out with an external party. Ok, let’s eat at the superb, but pricey, roof top bar - meals stop at 6pm so no luck there! A platter of cheese was the best they could provide. Why?? If the hotel restaurant is fully booked then make alternative options for residents. LeavingNaples on an evening flight we requested a late checkout but as hotel fully booked, no joy! Many of the issues could be fixed easily with a bit of attention to detail.

This is indeed a ‘grand dame’ hotel from an earlier period. Grand and stately and the well appointed rooms exceeded my expectations. Specifically the king bed, linen (!) bed sheets, marble bathroom, luxurious bath towels and terry cloth bath robe. We had a room in the back right of the hotel without a bay view, but instead a nice view of of a city street, the old wall of the original city and as I stuck my head out of the window (with Juliet balcony) and looked right, a view of Mt Vesuvio! Another highlight / tip is the breakfast buffet. You feel incredibly welcomed by the maitre ‘d and the staff is experienced and clears your plates frequently. Coffee arrived in a coffee pot for multiple cups. You must visit the rooftop bar if just to look at the view of Mt Vesuvio (so close!) and Sorrento and Capri in the distance. Worth the investment.

We only stayed here one night but visited the sky bar twice. The rooms were nice but the service upstairs in the sky bar was excellent! Professional. The food was actually the best meal we had in Naples so far and drinks are great! There was one particular young waiter named Antonio and he will make your experience at the sky unforgettable! His kindness and professionalism radiates. We will definitely be back

We had a tough time initially selecting a hotel and location and for our four nights on the Amalfi Coast but had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It is a beautiful and well maintained historic hotel with lovely views and an attentive staff. Whenever we requested something it was literally delivered in minutes. The gentleman host whose name started with P, but told me to call him Felipe greeted us so cheerfully every morning and took great care of our breakfast experience. The food selection was delicious and plentiful. The rooms are lovely and clean. Bathroom is a bit smaller but nice. There are several good restaurants in walking distance.

Stayed 4 nights. Loved the seafront location. The welcome on arrival, in the beautiful lobby, was impressive. Beds were very comfortable and room decor was smart. The food at breakfast was good quality and the service was attentive. Did not eat dinner in the hotel - the restaurant always seemed to be reserved for a private event - frustrating, but there are good options just a short walk away. Had to move rooms as the bathroom in our initial room had a crazy all-round shower screen design that made it hard / dangerous to get out of the bath. Really poor labeling of breakfast items - there are about 8 large cakes laid out on a table, and one A4 sheet (with small writing) listing out the various allergies in the cakes, but you don't know which cake is which as none of them are labelled. This was the same every day, so it's just a poor system - it's easy to label items individually and makes it much safer for guests with allergies. One day the pineapple and grapefruit juice labels were wrongly switched, this is potentially dangerous for people taking certain heart medication who must avoid grapefruit. One of the best hotels in the City should not make these 'unforced errors'. Would go back to Naples in a heartbeat - we really loved it. Would be happy to stay at this hotel again, but would probably research other options first.

We had a great stay at the Grand Vesuvio. Hotel is grand with much charms and great staff. Room was very clean and good size. Breakfast buffet was so good and great selection of different foods. The concierge was so helpful and they spoke fluent English. The views of the mountain and the Naples bay were breathtaking. The hotel seems to be in one of the best locations in the city. Close to marina and restaurants. taxi stand near by. Rooftop lounge had great drinks and great scenery. We also ate at the rooftop restaurant and had a great meal. Salvatore the waiter was excellent and very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.

My son and I stayed at the beautiful Grand Hotel Vesuvio for 2 nights in July 2023. From the moment we arrived with a car to park, we were treated like special guests. Everything was perfect, the room was air conditionned (it was extremely hot outside during this period), spotless with crisp linens and towels. The service at breakfast was truly exceptionnal! We travel a lot in Europe, I live in Canada, my son in Los Angeles, my husband is Italian. We had drinks and dinner at the rooftop bar the first night and even though we arrived 30 minutes before the kitchen closed on the terrace, the staff was incredibly kind and exceptionnaly accomodating! I highly recommend this hotel and would definitely come back!

Stayed at this fantastic hotel with my wife and our friends. The location is fantastic right on the water and walking distance to dozens of great restaurants. The room is large and luxurious. The staff is phenomonal. Fillipo at the breakfast buffet is unbelievable and will attend to any rquest with a smile. FYI the buffet is unbelievable you will think you are at a weddeing reception. Overall this is a great place to stay in naples if you are planing to see Pompeii it was a short 35 minute ride to get there.
