I stayed at the Palazzo Caracciolo for a week towards the end of July. I felt completely safe and reassured by the safety measures in place at the hotel. Guests are required to wear a mask in all parts of the hotel.
My first room was clean and comfortable, but as it overlooked the courtyard, the noise from any venue was very loud. I was moved on my third night to a duplex room, towards the rear of the hotel which was much quieter. Wifi was excellent. There are bottles of water in your fridge, but no tea or coffee making facilities.
The breakfast was served too your table including drinks to avoid cross-contamination. Thew quality of food and drinks was very good indeed.
Some parts of the hotel were closed, but it was an interesting building to explore.
The hotel is situated on a busy street with lotos of construction taking place. It is located within walking distance of the Duomo and Railway Station. The double decker bus tour has a stop just outside the hotel, should you wish to explore the city in this way.
The staff were very helpful and professional, and my thanks got to Anna, Renata, Enzo and Massimillano for making my stay comfortable and enjoyable.
I thoroughly recommend this hotel for your stay in Naples.

We went as part of a Jet2 package, which said it had a swimming pool. However it only has a tiny area that you need to pay extra to use, this is just plain misleading and I have asked Jet2 to update their listing. Historic building with a tasteful modern renovation, lots of details to admire inside and out. The room was lovely, clean, aircon worked well and we loved the complimentary local almond delicacies! Reception staff are very helpful, and the hop on hop off bus stops very near by. It’s worth paying the extra for breakfasts, great selection! This is really a business hotel, there aren’t many communal areas where you can sit and relax. The courtyard/restaurant were often cordoned off for events and unavailable to residents. There’s an amazing pizza place around the corner and a short walk up the hill (see my other reviews) but the area generally felt dangerous and I wouldn’t have been out alone at night if I’d been travelling solo. Short walk from the train station, don’t pay more than 5 euros, taxi drivers will try very hard to rip you off!

We spent 7 nights in this hotel it is a lovely building in a good location for touring on foot, train, metro and bus.Our rooms were connected by separate doors leading onto the balcony with fantastic views of Vesuvius and surrounding area.
The staff are all very friendly and welcoming it is of a high standard and kept clean.
The beds are comfortable and the room very quiet at night when the doors were shut.
When the paving work is completed it will be even better, looks almost finished.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Checked in for 2 nights on 19th August 2022 as part of a road trip that the wife and I are doing to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. This hotel is our 5th of 7 after mostly good experiences at MXP Airport, Venice, Pisa and Florence.

Check in was simple and quick. Very helpful assistant who also looked after the parking of the car - no onsite parking but they take away the car which costs €28 / night. The hotel isn’t in a ZTL area so you don’t have to worry about fines etc … several hotel staff assured us of this!

We were given room number 136 on 1st floor. A duplex room (see pics) which was a first for us. Positives (very airy and open) and negatives (constantly up and down the wooden stairs from living area and bathroom to bed) come from staying in a duplex room. As I tend to go to the toilet in the middle of the night it woke us the missus with the creaking of the floor so this wasn’t good.

To keep this review short, the good, bad and ugly are as follows:

THE GOOD
1. Location and distance for walking into Naples was good. Around 10 mins
2. Staff were very friendly and accommodating
3. Bed was very comfortable and the best pillows to date during our road trip. We like them soft and bouncy
4. Breakfast and ambiance of having breakfast (hotel courtyard) was definitely better than any other hotel we have stayed in so far during our road trip.

THE BAD
1. The bedroom. As nice as it is to have a duplex it’s not practical. We must have been up and down the stairs 15-20 times a morning/evening
2. The general condition of the hotel is super tired. The common walkways between lift and bedroom looked like it was out of the 80’s … brown and badly stained or worn through.
3. Noise in the corridors outside of hotel room was loud and sound travelled easily.
4. Everything on room service was outrageously priced - super expensive
5. Housekeeping was poor. Came back to the bedroom and it looked like it wasn’t even properly made up (see photo)

THE UGLY
1. The location of the hotel is set within a very rundown area of Maples especially if you turn right out of the hotel. We did this on the first day and came across homeless refugees and locals. Litter was everywhere and it stank. We didn’t feel at all safe. Having lived in Bangkok for over 3 years I thought I’d never come across anything quite as dirty, but this location in Maples topped that what I witnessed in Thailand. You’re much better off turning left out of the hotel as it’s a lot cleaner and you feel much safer.

Notwithstanding everything I have just written above, I’d still book the hotel if you want something affordable for your stay. Just don’t expect 4* across all aspects of the hotel. Breakfast is defo 4* but all other aspects of the hotel are 3*

The hotel is well located, it took 10 minutes to get there by taxi from the Molo Beverello and cost €8 and the next day it took 15 minutes to get to the airport and cost €22.50.

I stayed in the Januario suite for one night and while it was nice with an original coffered ceiling, it felt a bit sparse and not that luxurious. There was a couch but no footrest. The hotel has 3 suites and 2 of them have that ceiling. There are also junior duplex suites which a staff member kindly took me to visit. There was a walk-in shower and also a bathtub. The bidet was so close to the wall that it was practically impossible to use. They had really nice slippers and decent individual toiletries.

The bar and restaurant in one of the courtyards had metal furniture and didn't feel very cosy and wasn't that comfortable to spend the evening, I ended up going to sit on a more comfortable chair in the lobby for a while. Also, I got a glass of prosecco with my free drink voucher which was fine but it came with some really spicy hard dough snacks which I couldn't even eat.

The porter took ages to get to my room when I was leaving so I had to take my suitcase halfway myself. The ladies on reception were friendly when I checked out, less so when I checked in. For the price and the upgrade as a Platinum Accor loyalty programme member, I would probably stay there again and maybe try a different suite but I left feeling slightly disappointed.

We stayed for two nights in December having chosen this hotel after looking at a lot of options and online reviews. You arrive to a chaotic building site out the front but once inside the atmosphere was welcoming and quiet. The rooms were very quiet until you opened the window. All of the staff were warm and genuinely doing their best to make the experience a positive one.Unfortunately two of our family of three were very unwell and we could not make the most of our time in Naples but the hotel was a luxurious place in which to rest. The buffet breakfast was lovely to look at but with no appetite we didn't eat very much but our teenage son enjoyed it! The bar was lovely and the barman on both nights made perfect Negronis. Location wise it's hard to tell as Naples is a sprawling city but on the last day when we felt a little better we went for a huge walk around the city to the spanish quarter , Via Toledo and the waterfront area and back and it was very manageable. Some of the reviews talked about how unsafe the area was but we did not experience this, we were careful though. I'm rating the hotel 4/5 because of the chaos out front but it gets 5/5 for the service inside. We would love to come back to Naples and this hotel when we are not ill so we can fully enjoy and appreciate everything.

Just a window in the history of this building: "In 1309, the building is donated by Charles II of Anjou, King of Naples, to Landolfo Caracciolo, a noble family. The palace still has the typical, renaissance style, central cloister. Joachim Murat lived here before his coronation in 1808 as King of Naples."

It was my third time in this incredible hotel that allows a full immersion of guests in the most vibrant, large and real historic center of Europe, bursting with old charm and modern elegance. This hotel experience once again did not disappoint after 4 nights in April. The temperature in my originally assigned room was too warm and the staff was responsive to my request for a larger room with functioning air conditioning. My new room was a "mansarda" style located on the last floor of the building, large, clean, with two bottles of water every day, tv, ac remote, and a large bathroom. Restaurant is excellent. The whole staff was amazing, and I want to thank in particular Francesco and Francesco DR for their courteous professionalism, and responsiveness to my requests. I will stay again at Palazzo Caracciolo.

Dear Daniela, What a joy for us to read your so benevolent feedback! We thank you for staying once again at Palazzo Caracciolo - MGallery for your Neapolitan stay. As you pointed out, Palazzo Caracciolo is a blend of history and culture, past and modernity, thanks to its common areas, such as the Monumental Cloister and the Olive Garden, which allow you to experience a journey into the past. We are pleased to learn you found excellent service from the Staff, who are always ready to meet the needs of guests so that the best experience of your stay is guaranteed. We are also pleased that La Cucina Restaurant also matched your expectations: our team works to offer a menu that is in step with the times but attentive to the Neapolitan culinary tradition. We are infinitely pleased that your MGallery experience is worthy of praise. We hope to welcome you soon to your Renaissance home. Best regards Barbara Brunelli General Manager

Location
The hotel is a 15 mins walk from Napoli Centrale but as many other reviewers have already pointed out, it isn't in an ideal neighbourhood and the streets around the hotel can get pretty dirty and rough. The hotel is also a 10 mins walk to the various attractions in Centro Storico but we chose to walk a longer path to avoid some of the smaller alleys that Google map suggested.

Service
The staffs prepared champagne in the room for us which was an excellent gesture but apart from that, the front desk staffs were constantly busy so do not expect a warm service.

Room
Like the hotel owner has replied to most reviewers, the hotel comes with a renaissance design so do not expect modern furnishings or designs. I booked a superior room with Queen sized bed so the room was large enough for the two of us and there was even an outdoor terrace to chill.

Dear Kennynwf, thank you for sharing your MGallery experience at Palazzo Caracciolo so minutely. While we wish the best experience for our guests, through your evaluation we understand we have further room for improvement. Palazzo Caracciolo - MGallery is a 16th century palace located in the very heart of Naples, just a short distance from the main attractions of the city centre. The MAN, the MADRE Museum, the Hypogeum of the Cristallini, the Museum of the Treasure of San Gennaro, the Cathedral of Naples, the Donnaregina Museum Complex, San Gregorio Armeno and its shepherds, and much more, are just some of the jewels of our downtown, a Unesco heritage site since 1995. We regret very much to learn that the streets surrounding our facility appeared dangerous to you. Rest assured the area is not dangerous and the streets surrounding our hotel are small streets typical of our city's road system, which do not represent a real safety problem for our guests. At the same time, we are infinitely pleased to learn you appreciated our warm welcome in your room. The main objective of all the staff is to offer you the best experience of your stay, in terms of quality of service, professionalism and friendliness. Therefore, we are sorry to learn that our Staff did not seem unfriendly to you. We will adopt the necessary measures to avoid such misunderstandings. Finally, we are pleased to learn that the room assigned to you was worthy of your expectations. Our superior rooms are characterised by the right balance between sobriety and refinement, design and comfort come together in a harmonious blend of contemporary style and historicity. Anyway, thank you again for telling us about your MGallery experience at Palazzo Caracciolo. We do hope to welcome you soon for your next stay. Best regards, Barbara Brunelli General Manager

We stayed there for three nights. Nice hotel with courteous and helpful ladies at the counter. I asked to change room (third floor) and was reassigned a room at the second floor where the wifi worked eventually. Cleaning staff are friendly as well as the "porteur" who helped us moving rooms. Parking is a killer in Naples but we were lucky enough to find a space right in front of the hotel from where we could walk to a lively area. Plenty of supermarkets, coffee shops and restaurants around. A few hundred metres from the tube station and from the"market" where people have a stroll in the early hours of the evening. Mixed feelings as we did not get this "luxury" feeling and wonder if it would not have been better to stay at a Mercure or even other cheaper hotels, Maybe I was expecting much more of an M gallery ...nobody was at fault....just a general personal feeling, hence the 5 stars

We visited this hotel being a great fan of the Sofitel product and ambiance. But despite this hotel is located in a historic palazzo, we were missing the great atmosphere and excitement. The staff is limited in number and lacks the real hospitality attitude: flat and without spice. No connection to the guests. This would help a great deal since the building needs this to compensate for the “emptiness” of the big court, the boring hotelbar and the poorly lit arcades that give access to the somewhat hidden room sections.
During our last evening we had dinner in the court. Sorry to say, but the staff there has to go back to school to learn the basics. They served the main course while not even having finished the previous one and on top of that asked: “Did you finish your dish already”, meanwhile dropping the plate on the table. No sense of timing and customer centricity, pushing the task is what they do.
The hotel manager has a challenging job to do or better consider his own position first... bring some soul back into the Palazzio.
