Antico Seggio is located on a very narrow street in the heart of the old city. The streets around there are narrow and canyon like, they are also somewhat dirty with litter strewn everywhere. However there is a gritty charm to it all and I would say its a little edgy in a good way. I lived in Europe before so I knew exactly how it would be. This B and B is a great find. Like the other reviewer says, its on the 4th floor of a very very old building but the steps are certainly not "rickety" as they are concrete. The staircase can be intimidating for some as it looks "rundown' but I didn't mind it at all because I love places like that. The inside of the B and B is beautifully renovated with a great kitchen and cozy bedrooms with clean modern bathrooms. There are beamed ceilings. There is a very nice terrace as well. The host is Francesco who lives next door. He was so nice that he bought a converter for me, so if you are coming from America you are set for your phone computer etc. The prices as of now are 40 Euro for a single and 60 for a double. Obviously they could change. I loved staying here and will stay here again for sure. Amazing value in my opinion. The B and B is very centrally located. I walked everywhere and never took a cab. People say Naples is dangerous but I didn't feel it. Of course I didn't wear shorts with a camera around my neck. Its best to adopt Italian fashion and not look like a tourist otherwise you might be a target. Also you should walk with confidence and not look lost even when you are :) If you are Bougeouis its probably not for you but if you want to live like a local for your stay this is the place. Also close to a lot of the famous Pizzerias on Via Tribunali.

Let me start with the location of this little B&B. It is located on the 4th floor of an old palazzo right in the heart of old Naples just behind the Cathedral. We did not quite know what to expect but calling this section of Naples "colourful" is being kind, and I think it was just a little more colourful than we were comfortable with, even though we consider ourselves seasoned travelers.
The building itself, an old palace on the narrow streets looks extremely run down, the stairs to the B&B are at the back of the car filled courtyard, which again is either colourful or a slum-like depending on your point of view. The 57 uneven and poorly lit steps do nothing to dispel your first impressions.
Once you get to the correct door, after climbing up the increasingly narrow stairway, and step through things do improve. The B&B consists of 4 bedrooms each with their own bathroom and a shared kitchen and a nice sunny plant filled terrace overlooking the courtyard. The terrace is by far the nicest amenity. The size of the rooms is somewhat variable, ours was tiny, others are bigger. The room and bed were fine, if a little dark, but the next door neighbours in the next building a little noisy, with a (presumed) child playing loud video games late into the night - but nothing you can do about neighbours I suppose. The linens had seen better days, especially the towels. The place was very clean.
Breakfast was self serve and very, very spartan, yes there was some jam, but only a few plain dry biscuits, no fresh bread daily so we ended up buying our own supplies to supplement. We did not cook in the kitchen but did buy fresh cheese, wine and bread for a pic-nic supper on the balcony one evening which worked out.
Other guests were nice. Unless I really, really wanted to stay right down town, I would probably not stay here again, for a combination of the neighbourhood and the accommodation. The owner wanted to be paid in cash - which was not especially convenient, no credit cards accepted.
The 57 steps could prove challenging for anyone other than the young and fit especially with baggage. Even without baggage getting downstairs only to discover you had forgotten your sunglasses was a challenge.
In summary a great central location IF you insist on staying in the historic center, otherwise stay near a subway stop and take the nice new subway to the historic center instead.

You will be spooked by the street at night, by the entrance of the palazzo and by the staircase but as soon as you enter the door of the accommodation you step into another world that is homey, safe and very nicely done up. We were four couples and had the apartment for ourselves. The rooms were exquisite, nice bathrooms and a very functional kitchen where we made breakfast with home made jams from the fridge and pasta for dinner. The host was very welcoming, found us a safe parking at a reasonable price, gave us some nice Italian music to set the scene in the apartment and made sure we had everything we needed. He also suggested good places to eat. It was very well priced and in a perfect location. Don't be scared by the grim exterior cause expecting you is a pleasant surprise.

Excellent location, clean and comfortable guest house. Francesco was very friendly and helpful during our stay. Would definitely return. Good value too, plus he produces a nice natural beer!
