After looking and walking for a long time to find a copyshop to print our carrental-confirmation, we decided to ask in a hotel. This ended up to be Hote Decumani. There were two very friendly and helpful people who offered to print (costless) our confirmation. If we didn't already have a hotel, this would definitily be a super hotel! The...

This is a 10 year old hotel project set in a historic building. It is beautiful and inspiring. The price of 159 Euro a night was very reasonable, considering the size and quality of the room, and the amazing breakfast provided. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the building and it's history. Also gave great advice for tourists...

We thought our efforts finding the Hotel among the historical centre would be blown away by the hotel de Charme, but que nenni ! The place seems to be an old catholic seminary, and the furniture d'epoque ! The room did not meet our expectations considering the pictures posted on their website. The room, particularly the matress of the bed,...

We spent 1 night here last week and were really looking forward to it, as it was the most expensive accommodation on our trip and we had high hopes. We had originally booked a triple room, but the third person couldn't come, so we had a large double. We had to pay extra for a triple when booking online, and...

Excellent location, very close to the sites and in a seemingly quiet area. A 2 minute walk from Spaccanapoli and via dei Tribunali. A 10 minute walk to the imposing Castel Nuovo and Piazza di Plebiscito at the Harbour. Our room on the first floor is spacious enough for the 3 of us, and the 'cot' is actually a comfortable...

We spent 5 nights here in a pleasant room with access to a terrace. As others have said the furnishings are a bit run down. My biggest sympathy goes to the outrageously overworked, short handed breakfast staff. They do great work under unfair pressure. The reception staff offered good dining suggestions, which we greatly appreciated. But there were odd slip...

I adored our stay here. The hotel is beautiful and the service is excellent. It is also very central to all and gives you the possibility of visiting the center in one day. Great food choices around it.

The hotel is a former residence of an archbishop. The room was large with an updated bath. The staff was great. Dario and Frederick were especially helpful when we needed information. Every staff person I interacted with spoke English. I highly recommend this hotel and its location in the historic part of town.

We had a very good experience at the Decumani Hotel de Charme. Its location is fantastic, just steps away from more sights than you could imagine in the heart of Naples' old town. The hotel is in a beautiful old building, but it's undergone a great deal of renovation, so it's modern and comfortable. We stayed there for four nights,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We are glad to give you the warmest welcome as our guests into Palazzo Sisto Riario Sforza. Here, in the heart of Naples old town within inches of Santa Chiara Church with its Cloister, the Veiled Christ and Via San Gregorio Armeno was born, in 2008, our Hotel. The Decumani Hotel de Charme was originally built during the 17th century and belonged to Sisto Riario Sforza, the last Archbishop of Naples in the Bourbon Kingdom of the Two Sicilies of which Naples was the capital. In 2008 we embarked on a major refurbishment programme for the second floor, where the Hotel is placed. The hotel has now been fully restored and equipping with all the modern conveniences our guests expect. A wide lounge, decorated with golden stuccoes and mirrors, testifies the illustrious past of this residence. All of our 22 bedrooms are fully air-conditioned and feature the following: soundproof windows, flat screen Television with international channels, safe, minibar, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. The Decumani Hotel de Charme is located in the Decumani, in the heart of the old town originally a Greek "polis" and then a Roman "urbs", an area wich represents with its squares, streets and alleys, a unique historical, cultural and artistic heritage, as it is testified by the acknowledgment of Unesco, which in 1995 declared the historic centre of Naples " the biggest open-air museum in the world". ... more   less

I was very interested to read reviews of this Hotel as I'm literally AGONIZING about where to take my family of four 'adult' children to stay in Naples this christmas! I've never been to Naples before and so reading a lot of the reviews one would think one was heading to India or Africa rather than Europe! However this does not bother me at all but obviously I am concerned firstly about the safety of my daughters and also given that I will be spending a lot of money to stay in 3 rooms for 10 days I really need to make the right decision about what area we stay in. This hotel was on the top of my list due to its high ta ratings but I'm wondering whether esp in the winter when it gets dark earlier whether this is a nice area for us to stay in? I thought it would be a good idea to stay in the centro storico so that we could walk to all the main historical sights but maybe Naples isn't such a big place and/or transport is good so that it wouldn't matter if we stayed exactly in the center? I don't want my 'children' to be put off by fear for their own safety or by the rubbish everywhere!! They are pretty tough but it will be their christmas present essentially! I believe there is a 'sister' hotel nearer to Chiaia called the Chiaja de charme? I was wondering whether this would be a nicer hotel to choose given it is a 'better' area? But from my research it appears the rooms are rather smaller than the Decumanis'. Whether this matters or not I don't know. I would really appreciate your feedback as obviously I need to make a decision soon before everything gets booked up! Many thanks Carolyne
