Myself and my partner stayed here for 4 nights beginning of September. The hotel was in a great location 15mins walk to the main town centre and Spanish quarter. We arrived approx 9pm and check in was smooth the room itself was spacious and very clean- we loved the high ceilings! The breakfast was lovely and traditional Italian breakfast, two lovely restaurants to the right of hotel when you come out would recommend both if you just want to be close to hotel. I will say on the Saturday night in hotel was very noisy outside and filled with students however it did not bother me or my partner and we were informed hotel close to university and student go to bars near hotel at weekends. I would highly recommend hotel and would stay here again if we visit Naples again.
As we walked into the fairly humble lobby of this hotel I thought to myself, this didn’t seem like what I saw in the pictures. But we were greeted with kindness and we got our keys and I went up to my room and I was so pleased by the charm and peacefulness that I felt in this lovely room with high ceilings and a beautifully appointed bathroom. As I explored more of the hotel, I was surprised as I turned each corner to find lovely sitting rooms and then the best room of all, the breakfast room. This hotel was such a perfect, calming and peaceful refuge from the noise and excitement of Naples. The breakfast each morning was such a treat, our service was excellent and the food just beautiful. Don’t miss out on your opportunity to experience this lovely place and enjoy the services of the knowledgeable and incredibly helpful staff.…
We just stayed 2 nights at the Decumani hoteland loved it. The hotel is central, which makes life easier. A short distance to the museo archeologico and the port. It is beautiful, the room with very high ceiling and charming with an excellent bed. The breakfast was out of this world. I recommend the ricotta with marmellata and the sfogliatelle. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. Federica negotiated a taxi who waited 3 hours for us to be done with rhe Pompeii visit. She want the extra mile to help. Special mention to Irène, Massimo and Martina who makes the breakfast such an enjoyable experience ! If we go back to Napoli, we know where to go
Very clean hotel and room, breakfast was great and the decor made it even more special. All staff we spoke to were really friendly and more than happy to help. Please don't be decieved by the surroundings, the hotel is a right gem with charming shops and pizzerias etc just a short walk away. The hotel itself is located around 15 minute walk from the harbour where you can get a bus to the train station and airport within 15-25 minutes.
This hotel was excellent. Very well situated in the storico center of Napoli. Walking distance from everything. The room was very cosy and fulfilled all our needs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I can recommend this hotel to everyone.
Spent 6 nights at Hotel Decumani de Charme. Many pros; some cons. The pros: first, the staff, especially Ilenia, Carlo, and Vincenzo, were excellent! Ilenia treated me like she had known me forever: planned my days and made all my dinner reservations. She took care of all of my transportation and excursion needs. She gave me many good tips on how to best navigate the wonderful crazy city of Naples. She was so knowledgeable, personable, and professional! I can’t say enough good things about her and the hotel staff. Also, the location is perfect— right smack in the middle of everything! The rooms are nice, housekeeping is great, and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is very good too! The cons: soundproofing between rooms is an issue. I heard arguments and television noise for 3 nights. This was very annoying as I had 3 restless nights. Also, some little things. My room needed a comfortable chair, my phone did not work well, and the shower was on the smaller size. Overall, the staff is exceptional and the hotel is lovely but beware if you are a light sleeper like me!…
We stayed at this hotel for my 40th birthday. The staff in all areas were friendly, helpful with a smile & nothing was too much. The breakfast was lovely with a good selection. The hotel itself is a lovely old building which has been tastefully decorated. Rooms nice with good aircon & comfortable beds. Noted previous comments about the area, however we never had a problem & found a lovely restaurant nearby by & bars & always felt safe. Would definitely stay again if we visited Naples again. The staff are a credit to the business!!
Stayed at Hotel Decumani de Charme for a one night stay in Naples before transiting to the Amalfi coast. The hotel room and breakfast were lovely and in-line with what I expected from a hotel at this price point. Where the hotel completely exceeded expectations was the stellar performance from the front desk staff (Federica & Carlo) who went above and beyond to facilitate our stay. From solving issues with airport taxis, providing a late night corkscrew to booking an excellent Amalfi transfer with minimum notice, they made our stay in Naples wonderful and stress free. I’d whole heartedly recommend this hotel to anyone.
I labored over our hotel choice in Naples. I mean REALLY researched it. We were in Naples for one night ... arriving around 4 p.m. and leaving by noon. My wife was really concerned about the city. We heard it was dirty and dangerous and scary on many travel sites ... so she begged me to book a room near the water. 5-Star hotels in Naples, according to my research, are often 5 star lobbies/roof decks with a 2-3 star room. Her top two 5-star hotel choices near the water were sold out, thankfully, because I secretly yearned to stay in Old Town. I read that it was authentic to the way Italy was pre-1960's ... a bit adventurous and rough and tumble. I wanted crumbling buildings, Vespas whizzing by and a little grit, while also hoping for safety from crime. I rolled the dice and booked the most expensive room category the hotel had, which was called a 'triple room' and was about 40% higher in price from the next level down. We had a bit of an issue with cabs in Naples, namely, the drivers would take advantage of us everywhere we went. There are supposed to be set prices for cabs vs. the meter where the drivers will take you miles out of the way to run up the meter. The problem is cab drivers don't follow the rules. I called the hotel to see what the price from the cruise port to the hotel should be in a cab. 10 Euro flat was the answer ... 12 tops. The nice lady told me to call her back and put her on the phone with the drivers, if there was an issue. Of course no driver would agree to any less than 30. Finally, we talked them down to 22. I called the nice lady for help, as offered, and a guy answered. When I explained, he rudely said, 'Take the price. I'l busy.' and hung up. So much for the help. We checked into the hotel. The staff was either incredibly nice and helpful, or rude and dismissive through our stay, depending who was at the desk. The woman with the glasses was nicest of all. Of course our room looked nothing like the photos. I'd say 2.5 stars at best, even at the top category. It was spacious but the furniture was old and the room was kind of bare feeling and shopworn. Nothing terrible, but we were glad it was only a one night stay. The bathroom (my favorite part of a hotel stay is the shower) was small and the shower was a mess. Weird and kind of unsafe glass doors, tiny tub/shower combo and low water pressure. The toiletry products and towels were also unremarkable compared to the website. The bed was hard ... and the promised balcony was about 2 feet square and looked ready to fall apart. Again ... an average room but don't go by any of the photos on their website for your expectations. The upper floor hallways looked nicer than ours, so maybe we were in some older, annex part of the hotel? The highlight of our stay was the FREE breakfast buffet. For this reason alone, we might stay here again. It was one of the best LOCAL FOOD breakfast buffets we've ever had. It's held in a beautiful room ... the rest of the hotel might be bland and average, but this room is regal and grand. The foods were mostly local ... Neopolitan cakes, tarts and pastry ... so good! Local cheeses, including THE BEST mozzarella di bufalo we ever had. We will never stop talking about how good that cheese was! Local cold cuts ... fruits, including local heirloom apples ... and you can order omelets made to order. I also recommend paying the 2 euro for the juice made from local oranges. Hands down, don't skip the buffet ... whatever you do! Naples itself is a bit dirty compared to some cities in Italy ... lots of graffiti and a fair amount of garbage. We saw a few rats in the street. We didn't really feel unsafe ... even at night, the people seemed nice, although they warned us at the desk to be on guard at night and not to wander too far away from people's sight. The area around the hotel was safe ... gritty ... and fun. We had drinks at a small bar right around the corner which specialized in craft beer. The owners were so nice and so were all the other locals there. By the end of the night, we were singing songs together. The one thing I had on the agenda was pizza at Pizzaria Antica di Michele, which we heard had some of the world's best pizza. It is a hike from the hotel, about 1 mile/3/4 mile away. It took 20 - 30 min. (with a few wrong turns) and we felt safe the whole walk. It was worth it!! There are pizzerias closer to the hotel which get great reviews, but we had to try this one. It was, in my opinion, the world's best pizza. Hands down, the best I've ever had. The pizza is huge! And it's only 5 Euro! We were going to try another pizza after but were stuffed. Overall, if you have a little adventurous side with a love for history ... stay here. It's a unique part of the city unlike a lot of other places you'll visit as a tourist. Maybe with kids, near the water would be a better spot. But for adults and couples, don't miss old town. It may seem I was harsh on the room ... truthfully, in Naples, this is a fine accommodation. You won't get The Ritz level anywhere you go here, and the rooms here are probably nicer than most places in Old Town. We enjoyed our stay. If you take one thing away ... don't skip the breakfast buffet!…
We did not know what to expect but upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and we were checked in early which was a big plus. The hotel has only been there for 10 years but the building for hundreds. The room was great and the air conditioning was greatly appreciated. Breakfast was fantastic with great service. We loved the proximity to all the restaurants and shops in old town. We highly recommend a stay at tge Decumani Hotel.
