Detailed Reviews

Quaint boutique hotel in Naples. Located along Spaccanapoli, the location is good with many sights within walking distance. In addition, the meeting points for many tours are also close by to the hotel. There are also many restaurant options nearby and the gelato shop right in front of the hotel is really a treat to us! Unfortunately, the road leading in is very narrow and as it is shared by vehicles and pedestrians, it is near impossible for vehicles to navigate to the hotel on weekends with the human traffic - we had the unpleasant experience on the day our our departure having to pull our luggage on the cobblestone to the less crowded part as the taxi refused to drive in.
We had the family suite which is a duplex to accommodate 5 of us. There is good space for the family to gather and with the 3 bathrooms, this is definitely a bonus. Our suite faces the internal courtyard of the property and as such, the noise level is marginal. The rooms on the lower level were comfortable but those on the upper level gets really warm and stuffy - no air conditioning during winter. The temporary ventilator brought into the upper rooms did help a bit but management might want to consider this for the comfort of future guests.
The team generally was courteous and helpful. For 2 mornings where we had early start for our day trips, the team was very helpful to arrange for breakfast prepared for us prior to the official start time of 730am - well done! Housekeeper did a good job with the daily cleaning and tidying. Daily continental breakfast is offered with the option to have a hot omelette done if required.
Overall. happy with our stay.

My wife and I were in Naples for three days, with street tours in Naples plus famous pizza spots (our visit to Sustable Pizza was extraordinary) and Pompei and Amalfi coast day trips. We rented a car and stayed at Santa Chiara as our home base while in Naples.
First, the hotel is very very nice. It's in an old part of Naples, on the third floor of an apartment building. It's like an oasis in the busy part of old Naples. Our room was comfortable and the hosts were great. While there were tons of people on the street from morning to late at night, our room (which overlooked the apartment building square) was very quiet.
Having a car in Naples, especially the old part, is not easy for driving. The streets are narrow, one way and filled with people. So if you have a car and want to get to hotel Santa Chiara, I'd recommend you use Google Maps to navigate to the 'Archeobar' (a popular bar/restaurant about a block from the hotel), park near the restaurant and walk to the hotel. Its maybe a block away. Once you are set with your room at the hotel, you can drive to one of the public parking garages. The closest one is around the corner from the hotel (Ecumano) but to get there, you need to drive on several narrow, one way streets. It might be easier (though the walk is longer) to park in one of the parking lots on Umberto street. The hotel staff will help you with finding parking places.
Once you are situated in the Santa Chiara hotel, you are in the 'old city', one of the best spots for walking, eating and people watching. At night there are a number of restaurants in the neighborhood. We took a three hour walking tour which started at the end of the street at Piazza Dante, about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Book your walking tours in advance since they get filled well in advance and we saw 5 or 6 other tours starting from Piazza Dante at the same time as ours.
Naples is a great city, well worth the visit. Just don't try to drive much inside the city since it is difficult. Once you are on the main streets, driving is fine.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this small boutique hotel. It is located right in the heart of historic Naples. It is in a very crowded pedestrian-filled location so entering this property was a refuge in the midst of the hustle and bustle. There is no parking on site but there is a parking garage (35 euros a day) that is 100 meters away. The rooms were comfortable and updated in a historic renovated building. The staff was friendly and helpful. The customized breakfast with eggs made to order was a special treat. The rooftop retreat space was amazing with 360-degree view of Naples. One suggestion though is to have lighting in the stairways as it gets really dark there. We almost tripped and missed the bottom step.

Great location on Spaccanapoli - amazing crowds of people strolling along on the weekend and interesting shops and cafes. Is a little tricky to find when you are dropped off at the nearby square. Can walk everywhere from here. Our room was pretty crowded and tight - I think we would have had a better time if we had been able to book one of the larger front rooms. Staff were very helpful and it was very clean.

Dear guest, we apologize for the inconvenience. We think that you stayed last autumn in the Comfort Suite. Our comfort suite has a size of 35 square meters, can comfortably accommodate 3 people and enough space to spend moments of relaxation. Obviously we would like to apologize for disappointing expectations, and we invite you for the next stay to ask for a family suite or an executive suite, in any case we will take care of offering you an upgrade. We are sorry to think that a "Great Location" of a score lower than our usual parameters. We hope to be Faboulous or Amazing in order to receive a score higher than 4. Write to us at info@santachiarahotel.com, we will help you choose the most comfortable room or suite for you. with regard Giuseppe

Staying at this hotel gives you the feeling that you are in the middle of the action in Naples. When you leave the hotel, you are immediately among narrow cobblestone alleys with all kinds of shopping, food, cafes, and gelaterias nearby. The service staff are excellent. They genuinely care about your experience at the hotel and are very accommodating. It almost feels like a family-run hotel, but I'm not sure that is the case. Our room was clean and comfortable, but since you are in the middle of downtown it can get a little noisy at night, especially since the local football team was competing for a title during our trip. But that just added to the exciting character of our stay. Our reservations came with breakfast each morning, and the food was simple, local, and excellent.

This hotel was in a brilliant location ( a hidden treasure behind a large medieval gate) as soon as you step outside the courtyard you are greeted by many historical sites and awesome places to eat. The hotel itself is very quite. Our room was overlooking the main street and weren't disturbed once with noise. The air conditioning was excellent. Their roof terrace is another hidden gem. The views were spectacular over the city. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and went above and beyond when the taxis all went on a flash strike the morning for our departure. A special shout goes out to Camilla who was brilliant with her dining recommendations, drinks on the roof terrace and helpful nature.

The hotel was right where we wanted to be within easy walking distance of the main sites and a taxi ride to the Capodimonte. Also good trattorias and pizzerias were very close by. The bedroom was nicely decorated and quiet and we had a kettle with mugs for making our own tea or coffee which was a big plus. We were given milk whenever we needed it. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice and good cappuccinos. My only criticism would be the bathroom which was small, had a step in it and a shower with nowhere to put the soap or shampoo. I also asked for a mat for the shower as it was very slippery and they provided this no problem. No dressing gowns were supplied. The staff were excellent, recommended some good eating places and were generally very pleasant and helpful.

I returned to the Hotel in 2024 and found everything to be the same a in 2018! Here is that review I wrote then:
I'd like to pack this hotel in my suitcase and take it everywhere I travel!
Everything about this hotel is excellent. It's in a great location in Centro Storico within easy walking distance of the major sites. The building overlooks a courtyard and once the door to the courtyard is closed, the world outside disappears. The well lit spacious rooms have soundproof glass and excellent temperature controls with good AC. The building has been tastefully renovated into a modern hotel but keeps many of the original details. Lots of closet space, roomy bathrooms and an elevator.
The staff were just great....friendly, smart, and informative. Breakfast was superb with an option to order eggs. AND, there is a rooftop terrace set up for lounging and drinks with amazing views over the city.
I HIGHLY recommend.

I did a four day city break to Naples and stayed at the Santa Chiara Boutique Hotel.
This hotel is ideally located in the historic centre of the city making many of the sites of interest easily reached on foot.
The hotel is a little oasis tucked away off a busy street, The room I had was large, well
appointed, very clean and comfortable.
The reception and my room, along with the breakfast room was on the second floor of the building but is easily accessible via the lift from the open courtyard. There is a roof terrace, again accessed from the lift, which gives views over the city rooftops. It is a great area to sit and have a drink.
All the staff, without exception, were really polite and helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble for them.
I would be very happy to return to this hotel if I am ever back in Naples and would be happy to recommend it
to anyone visiting the city.

Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of Naples. Walk out the gates and you are on the Spaccanapoli which is one of the most lively streets in Naples. However, once you walk through the main gates of the hotel, you enter an oasis of calm. What makes this hotel incredibly special however is the level of service. We had long delays with flights and dropped the hotel an email to let them know that we would be late arriving. They replied within a few minutes to see if we wanted someone to collect us at the airport. When we got to the hotel almost 8 hours later than planned, they upgraded us as they knew our day had been challenging. We had an early flight from Naples a few days later and they prepared a takeaway breakfast as they had not started serving breakfast. All of these things are easy to do but very few hotels do them consistently and even fewer do them without being asked. Thanks so much to Elena, Licia and Giuseppe for the outstanding service. It goes without saying that we will be back when we are next in Naples.

Hello Kim Ann, I'm the Hotel Manager. Our transfer service to and from airport cost 40 euro, if you have many luggage is comfortble to arrive inside the courtyard with car. The white taxi cost 25/30 euro, but sometime will stop you in San Domenico Square 50 m before the entrance gate (we are in pedestrian area).
The Glam Rooms, at 4th floor, are new with contemporary style, smaller then suites but with same service.
Please don't hesitate to contact our reception for any questions.
Regards from Naples
Giuseppe
Hi Andrea
Thanks for your question. The breakfast service starts at 7:30 am until 10:30am.
Best Regards
Giuseppe
Hi, when we travelled they were able to help with booking a taxi to the airport for us, this wasn't included in the room rates.
Hi Mr Pryal the Santa Chiara Boutique Hotel has comfortble family rooms perfect for 4 people, ask for suites 203 and 204, or executive suites 205 and 206.
Send email or visit our website
