We stayed in Pera di Basso for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon. We loved staying here as it was very peaceful in the mountains and a great place to relax and unwind. We would highly recommend for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax in the mountains. The views were amazing and the room was very tidy and clean. We enjoyed dinner on site both nights, this was always very tasty and Italian. The wine was also lovely and local. Mario was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Even giving us a lift to the port on the day we left. We also loved his very cute dog Poppy. Would highly recommend staying here!!

Me and my partner booked this place for a two night stay in Ischia because we’d read about it on TA and seen some beautiful serene photos. It didn’t disappoint us! This place is an absolute gem. From the second we arrived I felt a calmness descend on me that remained for our whole stay. It is a gorgeous boutique hotel (24 guests max) in a beautifully kept garden, overlooking the sea. We ate homegrown food from the gardens lovingly prepared by Mario and his team on the sun terrace. The gardens are a perfect spot for meditation, or to just chill out and unwind. We were looking for a total chill out after some hectic times at home and wanted to just unplug from the grid and relax. I honestly don’t think we could have made any better choice. If that’s what you’re after, then you should definitely come here! If you want nightlife, shopping or to be walking distance from tons of bars then, er, this is the last place you should come! Rooms were rustic and charming. People on here who have been negative about it because there wasn’t a TV and the WiFi is patchy in places should get a life! (Sorry). I mean why come to the top of a secluded beautiful mountain with panoramic views to watch tv?! Our one and only slight thing... no air con, and it was kinda hot at night. There was an AC unit in the room but it wasn’t working. However overall, this place is a gorgeous, beautiful, serene and calm oasis and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Thanks Mario and co for a great stay and for looking after us :) x

I’m so happy our friends told us about this place! It’s absolutely beautiful here and we felt completely out of the real world surrounded by nature, but we were only a 10 min scooter from town. The service really is unique and outstanding. Mario, the owner, is the most helpful and fantastic host! He helped us plan our scooter route and told us all the secret gems of the island to visit. He booked us a lovely dinner at a seafood restaurant he recommended. And eating at the farm the following night was a beautiful experience with delicious home made food! They offer pick up and drop service into the town. They grow their own fruit/veg. The grounds are perfectly kept. He really has created his own natural, stunning little empire in the heard of nature! Our room was beautiful too I love the simple design of it with gorgeous wooden beams everywhere. it was exceptionally clean with really high quality shower etc. big comfy double bed. I literally cannot fault it!! There was even a lovely little puppy to cuddle!! 😍 theres really nothing more I could have wished for from this place! Especially for the price we paid!!

My wife and I spent 9 nights at "Pera di Basso", which is a group of about a dozen cabin style rooms set around a central lodge in a beautiful hillside setting. The enclosed grounds are extremely well kept and laid out and being located high above the coast, the views across and down the mountain towards the sea are fabulous. If splendid isolation is your thing, then this could be the place for you as the atmosphere is one of total relaxation and seclusion. However if this is not your thing, then you may want to consider alternative options, as the "Pera di Basso" prides itself on its simplicity and is definitely a no frills experience for people trying to get away from it all. The accommodation is nicely presented, being rustic in style but offers no creature comforts such as room TV/radio or a fridge in which one could keep a bottle of chilled wine/water. This might not be an issue for many people familiar with the Agriturismo concept but given the fact that "Pera di Basso" is so far away from anywhere with a bar/cafe and does not provide such facilities itself, once the evening meal is completed around 9pm, there is little to do other than read or contemplate the surroundings. To do so over a nice glass of wine or a coffee would definitely enhance the experience! As others have said, access to the "Pera di Basso" is quite difficult. The final approach is via a steep single track road which is broken in many places - so if like us you decide to rent a car, in order to extend your options, ensure that it is a very small one, as anything much bigger than a SmartCar or a small Fiat will not be capable of negotiating the unlit road. Clearly the owners of the "Pera di Basso" are well aware of the access issue and for this reason offer free transfers to and from the coast at fixed times, each morning and evening. However the last pick up is at 7pm so unless you wish to have a very early evening meal or arrange your own transport home, you won't be able to enjoy dinner out or an evening in town. (NB A taxi from the port to the accommodation is 20 euros for each trip) As far as food at the "Pera di Basso" is concerned, a basic breakfast is included in the room rate, but dinner is not. The cost of an evening meal works out at about 30 euros per person (excluding any wine/coffee/bottled water) and on the basis of our wider experience of Ischia, this seemed a little expensive, given the fact each communal meal we had at the Agriturismo consisted of a simple pasta course (with either a tomato or another vegetable based sauce) followed by a series of "healthy" vegetable dishes accompanied by a small portion of an inexpensive meat (such as pork medallion or roughly cut sausage). The food was adequate, but the meat portions in particular were not generous and the overall impression was that all the meals had been produced on quite a strict budget. Significantly an after dinner espresso was charged for separately, which seemed a little unnecessary in all the circumstances. The staff. The staff at the "Pera di Basso" were very helpful and friendly. Housekeeping standards are high and the gardens are immaculate - Mario the owner, clearly runs a tight ship and has a definite business plan to which he adheres. However in order to maximise the potential of his business, I would suggest that the "Pera di Basso" offer its guests more facilities during the day and in particular the evening, such as hot and cold drinks. I, of course, understand that the "Pera di Basso" is not a hotel, but given that there is no where else for guests to acquire such things, the provision of some drinks (and perhaps even some daytime snacks, either complimentary or paid for) would not seem an unreasonable proposition. I would also suggest that the budget for the communal meals be raised to allow the provision of more ambitious/generous meals, as this would result in more guests opting to remain in for dinner rather than eating out at restaurants in town.
