A very special hotel in this stunning island. from the moment we arrived the service was impeccable, staff so friendly, hotel spotless, pool stunning and hotel rooms beautiful. The breakfast was plentiful and well presented, lunch delightful and the bar and service around the pool just wonderful. I really cant say enough as to how wonderful this hotel really is. Location is superb as a short walk to the restaurants and shops whilst sitting just far enough away to be peaceful and have those stunning views over the bay. A very special hotel that I would highly recommend. Worth upgrading to a sea view room to wake to those views from a lovely balcony, only tiny flaw for me personally was no coffee machine on room, as we are early risers and a coffee on that lovely balcony taking in those views would have been perfect! There seems to be some reviews not so positive about the staff but I struggle to see how that is possible, each and every one of them from front desk to pool/bar service to the restaurants and housekeeping ALL were friendly, helpful and delightful and throughout our 5 day stay too. A gem of a hotel

The staff at mamela is absolutely amazing. The same girl at the front desk helped us check in, made us a great dinner reservation (Il Geranio) and helped us coordinate a private boat tour right before our return ferry. The 2 hour boat tour around the island was beyond blissful and one of our best tours ever [even after traveling for 20 years]. There were a handful of staff members at the pool area which were helpful. They could use a couple more chairs and umbrellas but this is true of most hotels. The pool itself is stunning and has different jets and areas to sit, lie back and relax. The room was pretty, although a little dated. There was a mirror as the headboard, which was a bit strange, and the shower pressure was weak. It was still a spacious room with a beautiful blue tile floor. But overall would say the pool and great location outweigh the downsides of the rooms. The breakfast could also use a couple more options asides from pastries but this is a common occurrence in Europe. They also helped arrange our bags and ferry tickets so we had no problems leaving Capri!

I don’t even know where to begin. But let’s just say the wonderful Italian service you get elsewhere passed over this hotel. The fact that they don’t have their own service to pick up luggage from the ferry should have been a sign. I was told to call from the ferry to let them know we were en route to get the luggage. The hotel failed to tell me the rooms were not ready. So after arriving in Capri instead of walking around and going for lunch we went to the hotel (got completely lost) and were told our suite was not ready. Other hotels have someone meet you at the port to escort you. So we got majorly lost. They also don’t call you when the room is ready so we went out for lunch and went shopping. Hoping we would come back to a ready suite. Little did we know there was no really to rush. We travelled two couples. We were told all was available was a two bedroom suite. We were assured we would have two bedrooms with private bathrooms. We were charged over $1500 per night. We get to our suite. There is a large master bedroom with no doors. The bathroom is open to the bedroom and therefore open to the tiny sitting room that seats two. Then there is a tiny tiny room with no window only a porthole. The room did not have a closet. Only one bed tucked into the wall and a chair. It was made for a single child or for help. It was supposed to be for another couple which was unacceptable. To get out of the bed I would need to climb over my Husband and bang my head at the same time. We complained and then they told us they will move us to another suite but it is a downgrade. The next suite was a two bedroom suite. Both rooms had doors. However the second room was much smaller and equivalent to a room with no view in the hotel. The bathrooms were ancient and had zero water pressure. The worst shower I have ever had. The toilet was an old fashion flush and took a lot of manual effort to get it to work and then to get it to stop. The only plus was the sitting area seated all 4 of us. By the pool the restaurant had one waiter to serve everyone. He was very kind and tried to help but it was very challenging. There was no poolside service. They also don’t have enough umbrellas. All I can say is we loved Capri. It is amazing. But the hotel definitely was a disappointment and truly effected our vacation. The staff at this hotel need a lesson in customer service.

I will begin by saying we started out our trip to Italy in Capri. Was not easy getting there from Miami but was worth every inch of effort and time. My family consists of a 2, 9 and 11 year old. The hotel although was upscale was not uptight about my crying two year old. They were super friendly and made us feel as we were in our own home. Pool and view was amazing. Waking up to birds singing and ocean view was so relaxing. Room was always clean and service was amazing. Breakfast left a little to be desired especially since we are vegetarians. We had a small hiccup one night but the manager Alissa was super fast to fix the issue. On one of our nights we had an amazing firework show literally off of our balcony (first time in all my traveling). All in all we would highly recommend and would def go back.

A couple of pros but for what you pay, Mamela is not up to standard. Pros-pool area was beautiful and pool staff were friendly and attentive. View was wonderful. Lunch menu was delicious and staff were lovely. Cons-hotel wants additional €15 per bag to transport up the hill to hotel (over €100 in total). Hotel messed up our room/bed configuration-we were moved to a different room, (which was a downgrade) and we lost our balcony looking out to the ocean with no offer of compensation. No tea/coffee facilities or robes in the room. Had to ask 3 times for a kettle. Shower pressure was a trickle and you could hear every step/bang of the guests above you. On the second day, all guests were told to leave pool area at 4pm for a private party. Guests were not told about this beforehand, so expectations were not managed and people weren’t happy. Party was so loud with hundreds of guests, very loud music and went until after midnight. When we called the front desk and asked when it would be finished as we couldn’t sleep, staff were very curt and said they “thought” it would conclude at midnight and “that’s all they would tell me.” Buffet breakfast selection was not worth €20 pp with 80% being pastries. Upon checkout, the final bill was so confusing with little clarity provided but it’s hard to believe that over 4 days, an additional bill of €1000+ was accumulated with little to no alcohol. Understand this is quite scathing but again, for what you pay, the service and facilities are not up to par with other 4/5 star island resorts. Would love to return to Capri but will not return to Mamela.
