Beautiful hotel with an amazing restaurant, in a quiet sunny area with fabulous views….. It was our third stay and we can’t wait to return: the staff are polite and attentive, a wonderful breakfast of the highest quality, quiet and impeccably clean rooms We highly recommend
This was out fifth visit to Canasta. We love this hotel so much. Run by a fabulous, welcoming Italian family headed by Papa Piero and a long standing team. It's incredibly well situated with a fabulous breakfast terrace and magnificent swimming pool. I must add, that Piero in my opinion ,runs the best restaurant on the island, Villa Margherita. Exquisitely prepared food , not to mention the Seafood Risotto and Spaghetti Vongole with a Cantaloupe Tiramisu to end. His staff, from front desk through to the restaurant are superb. We love the team so much, they simply cant do enough. The Reynolds
Very nice and stylish small hotel. Nice decor and vibe. We loved the pool, the views, the breakfast and the exclusive location which was quiet and only a lovely 5min walk from the famous Piazza Umberto. The restaurant Villa Margherita (recommended) is just next to the hotel which has also a very nice bar. We've also been very pleased with their luggage service. They took our baggage when we arrived from the boat and brought it to the hotel and did the same when we left, which was very much appreciated. Although this service is not for free it was well worth it. Like that we could e.g. explore Anacapri after checkout and could go later straight to the boat to leave Capri where our bags safely awaited us.
The hotel is quietly located and enjoy a lovely view of the Faraglioni rocks. Hotel Canasta is very well run by Mr d'EMILIO and his family. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable. One negative thing which this hotel has in common with many others is that the the doors do not block out the noise from the corridor. Normally this is not a problem since most people are very considerate and return before midnight. The pool and the area around the pool is well maintained. The restaurant Villa Margherita is new to me. Excellent service and very good food however slightly expensive. This is by far my favourite hotel on the island.
Stayed here for 2 nights in August 2021. I availed of the hotel bag transport service (€10 each way) which made getting from the marina up to the hotel a lot easier. The hotel also arranged my boat ticket back to Naples for me. Overall I found the staff to be very helpful. The room and bathroom were a good size and very clean. The hotel is located a 5 min walk from the main square on the Capri town side of the island so it a very good base for exploring the whole island. The hotel has a pool which looked very nice but I didn't bother using it. Finally breakfast is buffet style and there is a nice outdoor area to sit and enjoy it in
We read lots of reviews on Capri and decided to take advantage of the hotel luggage transport service. We struggled to find the porter amidst the boat loads of people but after ringing the hotel, found the meeting point (its an umbrella with ‘porter’ written around it near a newspaper stand once you’ve walked down the pier). In hindsight, we felt we probably didn’t need this as we carried our bags back down fine but we could see why some people would not want to take bags across the cobbled streets and up the cable car! When we arrived at the hotel, we were very grateful of a complimentary room upgrade to a gorgeous superior room. Our bags arrived and were taken direct to our room for us shortly after. The pool area is gorgeous and is lovely after a day of exploring. The hotel is in a great location near the shops, restaurants and bars. Breakfast was good and despite Covid regulations we were still offered an array of food which was plated for us. …
I'm aware that this hotel is relitively good value for Capri but I felt that the service and room itself weren't quite up to scratch. Reading the other reviews I was expecting a warm and friendly welcome. It was completely the opposite. Every interaction with the hotel staff was cold and dismissive and left me and my partner feeling unwelcome. It made it very hard to enjoy the stay. The pool and view from the terrace are stunning though and the room was nice. The tiles in particular are stood out. Overall it was an ok hotel stay at an extrelemy high price.
Hotel Canasta was a great choice for us in Capri for 2 nights (Sept 2018). The rooms had a lot of character, clean, the bed was OK. The breakfast bar offered a good selection. We selected this hotel to have a pool but were so busy sightseeing we did not even use it. It's shadowed in the late afternoon so don't plan on getting sun towards the end of day. I liked that it was off the main paths, and a very short distance to the Gardens of Augustus. *This is a lesson learned tip because it wasn't something I understood from all of my Capri research. When you arrive at the ferry dock, you can either take a taxi up or have the hotel transport your bags in one of their small motorvehicles, then you can take the Funicular up. **Let the hotel transport your bags!!** The funicular is straight ahead and to the left once you are off the dock, and you purchase tickets at a building close to the dock. Once you are at the top, you are near the center of Capri town. From there all of the roads to access the hotels are pedestrian (or small motorvehicles only). So if you are carrying your luggage, you are dragging them on many cobblestone streets to find where you're going. A taxi is 25 euro's and they'll drop you a few hundred yards before the Capri town center, because cars are not allowed (so you'll still be dragging your luggage to the hotel). Recommend taking advantage of the luggage transportation service and doing the funicular up!…
This hotel is stunning. The pictures don’t do it justice because in person it’s like a mini oasis. From the tiled floors, to the uber comfortable beds and stunning pool that overlooked Capri. This hotel has it all. They have a bag service which I recommend using because the cobblestone roads are hard to carry luggage on. It’s reasonably priced and Giovanni made sure I got my luggage before I boarded the boat back to Sorrento. The hotel itself is located in the middle of Capri which makes it an easy walk to go just about anywhere in the main town. Breakfast was phenomenal. Highly recommend the lemon loaf- WOW. Quite a variety of food available paired with a fresh cappuccino of course. This hotel is a must stay when in Capri and it really has it all! What really made my stay was the hospitable hotel staff. Roberto, thank you for answering my countless emails and planning my days in Capri. He wasn’t patient and scheduled/ recommend dinners, boat tours, day beds my the ocean, lunch spots with a view. I traveled to Capri solo and you really made my stay here an easy one. Thank you for everything! I will be coming back.…
This is third consecutive visit to Hotel La Canasta. This little hotel is a true gem. The family are absolutely charming and extremely hospitable. Its in a quiet area, serving a great and simple breakfast. Lovely clean rooms with every ammenity. The family run the BEST restaurant on the island, Villa Margerita, the best of Italian Cuisine serving fresh and delicious food. I have already booked for next year. Sending all our love.
