Our Gracie (Fields) will be turning in her grave at what has been done to her former home 'La Canzone del Mare' Excellent position but that is all that can be said for this tired offering. There are much better places on the island like the wonderful Villa Cesalle just up the hill in Anacapri and run by a fabulous family including crazy Fabrizio and his brothers. Don't judge Capri by a stay at this place and Capri is not expensive, no more expensive than Sorrento or Naples. I should know as I live here for most of the year!

I wish I could give no stars, one star would only apply for the location/view of beautiful Marina Piccola. The "resort" really was terrible, it is run down, old, tired, and EXTREMELY disgustingly filthy!!! See photos attached of the "suite" conditions. The bathroom was beyond filthy, felt and looked like a pool locker room. The bedroom was just as bad, yes we know it was old, and out-dated. But there is a difference between old and clean, and old and dirty. THIS HOTEL WAS OLD AND DIRTY. We were traveling with another couple, they had the "Sophia" room, and we have the "Liz" room. We spent 2 nights in Capri at this hotel. 2 of 8 nights spent in Italy, we also stayed in the beautiful Positano and Rome. We arrived early, too early to check in, and the desk store our baggage. We spent some time at the pool, which has seen better days, view was beautiful. Drinks were terrible, pool bathroom were dirty, which started our concern about the sleeping rooms. We finally checked in at the "front desk" that felt like a beach snack shack. After seeing both our room and friends room, I was disgusted and sick to my stomach. I have never stayed in such a dump with this much filth. I wore my sandals in the shower, that was covered in mold/dirt, and flooded up to my ankles and on to the floor. The front desk attendant came up to the room when I called right away to complain. I showed her the dirty areas, and photos I took of shower flooding. She explained that was common in Europe. She also tried to nicely explain, basically you get was you pay for, that this hotel was assumingly the bottom of barrel for Capri, (at $300+ per night) and that you pay for the view not the room. She said no one complained before, I found that very shocking, and lies. I felt bad for her, because she must have to defend that dump often, and she was a nice and helpful person. The desk agent did call housekeeping right way, the housekeeper scrubbed the shower and bathroom, for a long time. I would think they would have done that before we checked in??? Her efforts helped, but still filth and grime were left in the room. Our friends had the same issues in the "Sophia room", besides the dirty bathroom, had a ceiling with falling paint, and black mold on AC and vents. We continued to complain and ask for management, who were no where to be found, and were probably hiding. We heard more excuses like "it was the end of season", "the staff were tired" "they were understaffed". We asked for compensation for having to experience these disgusting conditions on our first trip to Capri. We didn't even want to eat in the restaurant, if the rooms were that dirty, IMAGINE THE KITCHEN!! We continued to ask and complain, and were very nice and understanding, knowing it was not the staff's fault the place was a dump. We left never speaking with a manager, and only getting a small credit for part of the private boat tour we took with them, which was by far the only great thing about the stay. No credit was given for the rooms/stay. SO DO NOT STAY HERE, unless you like extreme filth, dirt and grime. Along with old and outdated decor. Shockingly this hotel has 4 stars on most websites, I don't know how??. It is a 2 star at most.

View was about all that was nice in this hotel. The rooms were totally run down and old, broken tiles, shower doors falling off, plumbing was poor, furniture was falling apart and has been changed since 1940!! Linens were bad, towel hard and literally must be 100 years old. There is no hotel lobby it's a shack outside, there is no shop and didnt ser a kids pool. It's all a lie and to add insult to injury, they sell out all of the pool and beach lounge chairs to outsiders and dont offer a space to their paying hotel quest. Stay away from this place. Restaurant also has awful food had lunch and breakfast and both were terrible. This hotel is however right near a public fun beach with lots a great cheap restaurants and fun to hang out and have a great time. The views are breathtaking, but that's about it. I was sincerely disappointed especially after staying in a great hotel before this one in Porsitano.

What a great view from the hotel to the Faraglioni Rocks! Also the hotel has it's own port which is great if you're doing a boat excursion. The staff was great and VERY friendly. They all knew us by name! The hotel conveniently located right next to the Marina Piccola bus stop. it has buses that run regularly to Capri and Anacapri. We stayed in the Jackie suite which had an AMAZING large terrace facing the ocean and Fragalioni Rocks. Breakfast is included and the staff did a great job of bringing our breakfast to our terrace. We had amazing breakfast and view each morning. If there is anything I wish they had is an extended time frame for room service. After a night in Capri or a long day strolling the city the restaurant closes pretty early. Or maybe if they leave a list of places nearby to order takeaway that would be useful. However there's a great Italian restaurant and Pizzeria located right next to the property and it came in handy.

Capri is a very expensive dream, cannot stress that enough, its a very expensive destination, and we were delighted to find this hotel, conveniently located, ocean view, really well priced, and fantastic pool. We had a truly dreamy holiday and there is nowhere we are happier to have visited! Our room had two windows and both faced the ocean, waking up every morning with the view was more than we could have asked for. Also really great staff who helped us plan day trips and beach clubs.
