We stayed in a superior room on the 2nd floor with a sea view and it was spacious, clean, good shower and comfy bed. The hotel was very clean and all the staff we came into contact with were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were ok.
Super clean hotel & excellent service, the waiters, team on reception & cleaning team were all very friendly & helpful. The hotel is immaculately clean & the rooms cleaned everyday. I’d definitely say more a 3 star plus hotel & good value for money. Breakfast was great with a decent continental selection. Bar & pool area were good with lovely cocktails. The bottom floor of the hotel is very modern, our room was more traditional/older but good as somewhere to rest your head & a base for exploring Sorrento. Only downsides were our air con didn’t work which made the room a bit humid & damp but we just kept the balcony door open. We found the hotel could be a bit noisy hearing other guests in their rooms. There is a bit of the road to walk down the hill into town with no pavement but wasn’t an issue & we put the chaotic driving down to being all part of the Sorrento experience. It’s an enjoyable 15/20 minute walk with some amazing views. We got a taxi one night, €25 which felt a rip off for the distance. Would definitely suggest taking trainers, Sorrento is a walking holiday! And also strong mosquito spray. The restaurant next door to the hotel, Verdemare, was fantastic. Would recommend Hotel Metropole for a good priced hotel, friendly, cleanliness & good location, a fantastic first trip to Sorrento.…
The staff were great and very friendly. It was very clean for the most part but would have been better if they hoovered everyday as the floor got quite dusty. The rooms are big with nice balconies. Bar and pool area were good too and the drinks are really good value. The dinners included with the half board were ok though I think they were just microwave meals so if you can afford it definitely eat out as the food in town is great. It’s probably a 15minute walk into the town centre but be aware there is no footpath for about the first 250m so you’re walking in the road but everyone has to do it so it’s safer than it looks and well lit at night plus there are busses and taxis too.
Very pleasantly surprised by this excellent 3 star hotel. Service and cleanliness were very good. Nice sized rooms, with pleasant hard working staff. I would certainly stay here again if visiting Alicante.
We booked a trip to Sorrento and chose to stay at the Metropole based on the strength of other reviews though it seems I must be missing something. The hotel is located on a small hill a short, 15 minute walk from Sorrento centre which can be tricky to navigate at night as a section has no footway for pedestrians. We were greeted by rather grumpy, unwelcoming hotel staff. Arriving at around 11.30pm and assuming the hotel staff were possibly tired we didn’t think anything else of it. Having travelled all over the world, visited many different hotels and interacted with different staff this experience was a let down. Granted this hotel is only 3* - manners and politeness cost nothing. This establishment could be doing with a course in decent customer service. The room was basic though very clean. The air con never worked and a safe is available for an extra fee. There was also damp on the walls. Our room never had a fridge. Noise is another issue. Rooms at the front are close to a busy junction where the honking of horns and emergency service vehicle sirens are frequent. We took a look at the breakfast on the morning after our arrival, we decided not to eat at the hotel for the remainder of our visit. I cannot comment on the taste. This hotel lacks atmosphere, doesn’t feel comfortable to be in and has little to no hospitality. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience with doom and gloom being the theme here.…
Small Family hotel not too overcrowded at the top of the hill. Small swimming pool with sufficient sun lounges and places to sit around the pool. Dining room as outside sitting area if you want to sit and eat your breakfast on the balcony or your evening meal. Overlooked by a busy main road some traffic can be heard from the rooms but it can’t be avoided as this is the only road in and out of Sorrento. The rooms at the front of the hotel that Luke out over the main road are being modernised with fridges and tea and coffee facilities, these rooms can be quite noisy though with the traffic especially the motorbikes and scooters. The rooms at the back look over a garden of olive trees can be slightly less noisy but the road is winding so it winds around the back of the garden. The rooms are clean some of the rooms on the back or quite old-fashioned but all air-conditioned and I’ve cleaned every day new towels every day there’s no tea and coffee facilities in the rooms at the back but when they close for the winter season things might change. The hotel staff are very accommodating I forgot my adapter and the hotel staff kindly lent me one you can book your two hours with the hotel staff we booked at Capri and Pompeii and were picked up from the hotel both trips were very organised. Drinks are all charged to your room example beer wine coffee bottles of water anything that you have with your evening meal or sit in the bar area they’re all charged to your room. I found the stuff of this hotel very pleasant very polite and very helpful nothing was too much trouble it’s not a massive hotel it’s just a small family hotel. Walking into Sorrento there is no footpath on the first part so we walked on the opposite side of the hotel walking down and after the first bend there is footpaths. But just lower down from the hotel is a bus that takes you into the town centre the buses are every 20 minutes once you have purchased your bus ticket and you take your bus ticket to a machine put it in the machine and it clicks and then it’s okay to go the bus takes you into the town centre of Sorrento. Please take your mosquito spray and mosquito plugs the only downside for me was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes…
I have just stayed for 12 nights and checked out on Sunday as part of a family holiday. I can’t express how amazing it was and the staff were the best I had ever had. The boys in the dinning room were friends by the end of our stay. So attentive and accommodating at all times. So professional and amazing at their jobs. The bar staff, reception and the cleaning staff were also amazing. So thank you for being an outstanding hotel and I hope I will be returning as you have a beautiful city and all the people are so warm. I would recommend highly and the restaurant next door is better then some of the most expensive in town
Enjoyed our stay Staff friendly & helpful Room was comfy & clean Breakfast , decent choice and eat as much as you wanted Just wish there would of been a local store nearby to purchase items Roads are a bit dangerous & you need to be vigilant Jet 2 package was great
I cannot recommend this small friendly hotel enough , it was located 20 minute walk from the main town or you could get the bus right outside the hotel. It was immaculately clean and the staff could not do enough for you my friend was gluten free and everything was explained every morning what he could have with his gluten free bread couldn’t do enough for him, we arrived late with delays and the staff came to help us with our cases and even saved a meal for us . Definitely go back love this place
This 3* Hotel should really be a 4*.. Excellent service, nice quiet room with garden view. On arrival late evening we had a smooth check in and dinner had been saved for us and other late arriving guests. We were met at the coach by the Manager who helped us in with our cases. The ‘night shift’ receptionist was very pleasant and helped us with information on the area and bus times. He always greeted us with a smile. All staff at this hotel are very polite and helpful. Breakfast plenty of choice with a couple of warm options and pancake making machine! Antonio and Luigi provided excellent breakfast and dinner service. We liked the fact that you ordered your dinner choices in the morning. Always good choice and excellent traditional Italian cooking. Always a pasta, meat or fish dish available. Compared to hotels higher up the hill this one was walkable to Sorrento town and there was also a bus stopping outside. Rooms at the front have great view but will have some traffic noise. We had a superior garden view room at the back which was lovely. Free safe and tea making facilities The property is spotlessly clean with a lovely terrace and pool with fantastic views and plenty of sun beds and quieter seating areas. A really lovely holiday as so much to do in and around Sorrento, lovely hotel and good mix of British , Italian and Spanish guests when we stayed. Everyone we spoke to were pleased with this gem of a hotel. Would recommend and would like to return.…
