Excellent location for visiting Sorrento and surrounding areas. Some rooms can be a little noisy as they over look a busy road junction. Our room was on the 5th floor overlooking the junction but with the patio doors closed we didn't find it too noisy. Our friends had a room on the same floor overlooking the pool, both similar layout. I would suggest that if you are a light sleeper you try to get one of these rooms,. The rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels supplied as required. The housekeeping staff are very friendly and happy to help if you need anything. Breakfast is a little basic but more than adequate and again staff are friendly and helpful. The pool area is spotlessly clean with ample seating areas. Over all I would certainly recommend Hotel Tourist for your visit to Sorrento. …
We've stopped at this hotel on a few occasions, and always had a pleasant experience. It's modest three star rating doesn't do it justice. The breakfasts are plentiful, the staff are attentive and professional, and the hotel is a nice size, giving it a nice relaxing feel. The clientele are typically of a 30+ age group, as it's not really one for children or large families. As a bonus there's no morning swimming pool 'towel wars' or large gangs of lager swilling yobs. If you're looking for a nice, clean professional hotel, in a great location for the centre of town, look no further...
Well we picked this hotel due to its easy location to the train station and central Sorrento. In that regard we couldn’t fault it a short 5/10 min stroll down a busy shop lined street got you to the train and bus station. A further 5 mins took you to Piazza Tasso and then onto the bars/restaurants and narrow streets of Old Sorrento. The hotel is exactly what you’d expect a modest basic affair. The room was sparsely furnished but with a very comfortable bed and just about enough hanging space. More drawers would have been nice. I also would like a kettle and tea/coffee option in the room as someone else mentioned. That to me was a real let down. The bathroom was dated with a shower with a mind of its own as to where it wanted to point. But once we worked out we couldn’t make it stay where we wanted and let it do it’s own thing we were fine !! Water was always hot and towels and shampoos etc were changed daily by the friendly cleaner who was happy to provide an extra pillow as soon as we asked for it. The reception staff were pleasant when we had any dealing with them. We used the pool on several afternoons but found that the pool bar and lifeguard that are advertised seemed to have stopped (maybe they think October is “out of season”) but it was 24 + degrees when we were there so the pool was welcoming even though it was absolutely freezing to get in. The only negative to the whole experience was as has been mentioned by many others the restaurant manager. He is just not capable of dealing with more than 2 people at a time. His constant response to anything was I’m busy, 5 mins you wait , or it’s not possible. ! (For any Brits just think a combination of Basil and Manuel and that’s him) The first morning we sat for 20 mins before he came to ask what we’d like to drink and order off the menu on the table. This seemed to disappear half way through our week as though he hoped no one would ask him for hot food. There was no management of guests arriving and if the room (which is only small for the size of the hotel ) is full people are told to wait in reception. But he keeps no track of this and just let’s later arrivals have seats. We saw this happen 3 times which caused some very unhappy guests. Our worst experience was getting there at 7am as we had an excursion planned to find most tables reserved for a group one other guest in the room and being completely ignored by him as he sat in the kitchen chatting! When we asked for coffee he brought the wrong thing and told us we have group coming ..as though this explained everything. And when the group was actually in the room you stood no chance of being served..”I have group you must wait” was all we heard. Saying that don’t let him put you off the hotel is so well situated…
Just returned from 6 days holiday at this hotel. The staff were very friendly, polite and always willing to help , did read complaints on previous reviews about the restaurant manager but we found him very pleasant and helpful , plenty of choice for breakfast …… the room was basic but very nice and cosy .although on a busy road the traffic didn’t keep me awake , surprised that there was no kettle in the room as most hotels do have them , but was not a problem . Hotel in Great Location 5 mins from train/bus town and beach
I really enjoyed the stay in this Hotel. The location was great,5 minutes walk from the Train Station. Lots of great bars, restaurants and shops nearby. It was really good value for money, comfy rooms. Very clean and cleaned daily. The price includes breakfast and the choice was really good. The staff were lovely. Beautiful pool area . I used the pool every day. Towels were provided. There was also a bar in reception, but I never used it. I would definitely stay here again if I visit Sorrento again and would definitely recommend it to anyone traveling there
The hotel was good, rooms clean and serviced every day. The reception staff helpful but the breakfast waiters were ignorant and unhelpful “I very busy, 10 minutes” which actually meant being ignored for over 30 mins and still no coffee or order being taken. This happened on the first 2 mornings of our stay so we decided not to use it again. We (and others) walked out and got breakfast in the town. A good hotel and great location spoilt by the breakfast experience.
Great hotel centrally located 5mins from the train station in Sorrento and 15mins from the port. Great and friendly staff and will stay again in the future. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Big shout out to Victor, who usually works the night shift!
We stayed at this hotel for 11 nights in September. Basic but very clean towels changed daily, rooms a good size and everything you need, fab pool in lovely setting in middle of Sorrento. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Breakfast lovely and cooked fresh to order. Minutes walk to centre. Only problem if your room is on front very noisy day and night as road is very busy - but hey your in the middle of town.
We stayed at the Hotel Tourist last week. The room was a good size with adequate storage for clothes and a very nice shower room/wc. The room was directly above the reception and noisy with traffic when patio doors were open. Good air con kept the room nice and cool. Breakfast was adequate but not extensive but staff friendly and helpful. The hotel had a very nice pool area with plenty sun beds and tables and chairs with parasols. A pool attendant doubled as barman and waiter but drinks and snacks were available as were towels for guest's use. Overall the proximity to bars and restaurants was ideal for us and it was only a 10 minute walk to the main square. We would happily recommend this hotel.
Nice enough hotel, friendly helpful staff. Close to the train station which is useful to get to naples or pompeii. On a busy road, which we overlooked so the staff tried their best and moved us to the back of the hotel after 2 days. It's within easy reach to get to nice restaurants and the sundeck by the ocean. It was a good base.
