We enjoyed our stay at the Grand Flora, but being unable to sleep properly due to the rock hard beds also means we were glad to head for home. As others have said it is not the 4* hotel you would expect in the UK, but it has a shabby chic appeal. PROS 1. Staff are exceedingly friendly and polite. 2. The TUI staff Jessica and Valerie were very helpful and got things done (more of this later). 3. The pool is large and clean and is suitable for a serious swim. I swam every day. 4. Everything is very clean - something I am very fussy about. 5. Food is typical solid Italian, but the staff are very helpful and will go 'off menu' for you. So for instance, son had spaghetti pomodoro made for him and chips served as a main! Don't expect 'English' food, like you get at the 'spoons' or similar, which some seemed to expect, and you won't be disappointed. 5. The gala night was good fun, and the views from the 5th floor restaurant are fantastic, with views of Naples bay and Vesuvius. CONS 1. THE BEDS. We are only in our 40s, but both got severe back ache and hip ache from sleeping in the rock hard beds. I had trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep, often waking at 5am because of the pain I was in. This is the main reason I will not be returning to this hotel, which is a shame. 2. People, as they do, come and throw their towels on the sun loungers at 9am sharp and then disappear for several hours. This means that during busy times there are no sun loungers for late comers. 3. Coffee at breakfast, unusually for Italy, is awful - don't bother. 4. Electrics are 'dodgy'. Some sockets in room didn't work, which left us with a loose socket in bathroom. Not ideal! The hairdryer in bathroom was also loose. 5. Our single bed had a very dirty mattress. Regarding points 4&5, I let the TUI reps know and they made sure the bed was changed the same day, and at least the loose sockets and hairdryer were tightened. TIPS 1. Don't pay for overpriced coffee and drinks in the hotel, head for the nearby coffee bar Ciokochris. Obviously don't ask for a cappuccino after 11, but do try their specialities like coffee bianco or gusto. On the corner of that block you will also find a great little bakery. 2. Bring your own parasol and base, we did as we had read the reviews that there aren't any at the pool. 3. Buy your supplies at Deco supermarket about 5/10 minutes walk away. 4. Have one of the set menus at Master Hosts Restaurant a couple of minutes down the road. The pizza is especially good, for only €8 inc drink and a limoncello. They also do takeaway. 5. Save money and take the train to Pompeii rather than an organised trip. Pay €3.90 for a return ticket and kids go free. The 2 hour tour with GetYourGuide (available on app) which partners with Askos tours there was well worth it. The Horus bar just outside the gates is lovely. Very reasonable prices and the sandwiches are huge.

We stayed at the Flora for a week in June, and we have enjoyed every second of it. The room was spotless, and we had a side view balcony overlooking the sea and the Vesuvio. The swimming pool is quiet big comparing to other hotels nearby, and they have plenty of loungers too. The food was very tasty, we enjoyed the omelettes for breakfast, and the dinner menus always included some really tasty dishes. However the restaurant can seam caotic, and the waiter with glasses on, was too loud and kept shouting at other members of staff, which makes the place look very unprofessional, please remember that people come there to relax and not to listean to your fat gob. Hoever i must admit that the rest of the staff were very polite, and most of them spoke good english at the bar and reception.

Wonderful holiday. Hotel, staff and food were excellent. Great location near Pizza Tasso, train and bus station. Clean, well appointed rooms. Will definitely return to this hotel in the future. Had an issue with someone wrongly putting drinks on our bill but when we brought it up with reception they rectified it without question.

This hotel in on the main street (corso) great location for walking in to the main part of the town but extremely noisy. Get a room with views of the coast with Mt. Vesuvius, so amazing. That said, there are a few inconveniences The air conditioning is not very strong and the front desk controls it from a computer. Every time you open the balcony door the air turns off and you need the front desk to turn it back on. Certain rooms on the 4th floor are directly under the restaurant, so it is very noisy during meal times. The rooms are small but normal for Europe. Our friend had a single room that was the size of a closet with no view. Be careful on the tile floors, they are very slippery with wet feet. The beds were hard but typical and the pool was beautiful. The bar staff was friendly but the front desk staff was not so friendly.
