As soon as we arrived we were met by a very nice porter who took our luggage to our room and the room we had was lovely and spotless clean and a very big balcony over looking the garden the meals were very good and a special thanks to the bus driver who took us into Sorrento and collected us.
TL;DR: Horrible staff, ant infestation, and personal items thrown out or stolen! All the reviews for this place said it was great, but this couldn't be further from the truth. When we first pulled up to the hotel and got out of the car, we were lazily greeted by an employee who failed to offer us any help with our bags. As we began to unload, another employee of the hotel came outside and proceeded to yell at the first man. This quickly escalated into what can only be described as a schoolyard shoving match complete with screaming and insults, so not a great first impression to say the least. The next morning, we awoke to find that our room had become a new home for a colony of ants. Apparently, this hotel has a serious ant infestation problem, which they failed to mention, and which was surprisingly missing from online reviews. When we confronted the front desk about the matter, they told us that "it's normal" and that we shouldn't keep any food in our room. The only food in our room was an unopened, completely wrapped bar of chocolate, but regardless - to claim that a hotel room having ants is "normal"? Maybe in a dump of a motel, but certainly not for a hotel of this price. Now the worst part. Over the course of the previous week in Paris, we accumulated a number of significant souvenirs as gifts and future keepsakes to remember our honeymoon. Unfortunately, at some point during our stay in the Grand Hotel Vesuvio, our souvenirs went missing. We explained that the items were in a bag left out on the table in the room, but the staff insists that they did not see nor move the bag. So either the bag was mistakenly thrown out and they don't want to admit it, or someone broke into our room and stole it, which is obviously even more of a reason to steer clear of this place! We tried to get some kind of compensation back through the hotel's insurance, but were informed that without a police report, that would be impossible. Of course, this all conveniently took place the night before we were scheduled to leave, so it was logistically impossible for a police report to be filed before our departure. Through this entire process, the hotel staff had a lazy attitude toward the situation, seemily could not care less about our missing items, and refused to take any responsibility whatsoever. As the beginning of the review says, the Grand Hotel Vesuvio and its staff ruined our entire Italy experience and has left a stain on the memory of our honeymoon. Please do not fall for the facade that this horrid place has constructed - do not trust this hotel!!…
Stayed here for 3 nights as part of a bus tour. Very nice hotel with great views of Sorrento. They have a free shuttle bus to and from the town so a convenient spot if you don’t have a car. The rooms are very well appointed and clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast was great and the pool area was awesome. Great hotel to stop and rest for a while, would highly recommend.
Pros: Great views from ocean front rooms and grounds Clean, large dining area at breakfast, free shuttle to main Sorrento tourist area. Cons: Shutte does not run before 9:00 am or from 1:00 to 4:00pm Taxi from hotel to train/ bus terminal cost $35. Euros "It's less then 1 mile away" Hotel should provide discounted taxi service for guests. Rooftop area very rundown and dirty.
We had absolutely no complaints about this high quality ( and not too expensive ) hotel. Arriving earlier than expected at around 12 noon, well before official check-in time, we were given a room that was ready. The room was clean, spacious and well equipped. Sky TV a bonus with a few English channels. We did not pay for a pool / bay view, but had a reasonable view across the hills. The room was cleaned every day. We only had a lunch on one day, which was reasonably priced and good quality. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice. The free shuttle to Sorrento was very reliable and reasonably frequent with the driver, Antonio, a delightful man. In fact, all staff were pleasant and helpful. We spent one afternoon by the pool, with lots of free sun beds available. The pool was just a little too cold for us to enter! There was low key entertainment in the bar every evening. A solo singer, a saxophonist and a guitarist on the nights we were there. Overall a great stay - would not hesitate to return.…
Hotel 🏨 s in great location with fantastic view and beautiful grounds. Our bed was worn out and breakfast substandard. Coffee excellent but horrible soupy scrambled eggs with underdone bacon. Shuttle was good but need to add earlier times. We rate it 3.5 stars.
Lovely hotel, great bay views, nice pool area, great views from the restaurant and two balconies. Rooms modern and very clean. Staff really helpful. Whilst hotel is a little way from Sorrento town, there is a pretty regular free shuttle bus service. Suggestions to enhance the stay - the pool is unheated and freezing, no irons allowed in your rooms and you have to take your clothes down to a room in reception (a pain!), there is a gap in the bus shuttle service of 3 1/2 hours 1pm - 4.30pm. I thought the tours offered by the hotel were a bit on the pricey side also. Overall would definitely go back as it is very reasonable for the price.
Beautiful Hotel 4+ stats We enjoyed out stay , beautiful view- we enjoyed to see the volcanoes with the sea ! The staff was kind , the breakfast was perfect , the pool with an amazing view Our room was beautiful clean The shuttle bus to the city center was perfect ! Thanks 😊
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Our room was medium sized and cleaned every day. Plenty of storage ,a fridge and a safe. A beautiful swimming pool and very pretty gardens both with plenty of seating. The views over the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius were stunning. We had half board in the lovely restaurant also with the amazing views. Breakfast had all you could wish foro eat. Dinner had 3 fcourses of which the desserts were the star for me anyway. All this was presented by a fab team of waiters orchestrated by Maitre d' Giovanni. They were all helpful and professional without being subservient. Friendly and knowledgeable. All in all a great hotel and one we would happily return to. All the staff from reception through to the cleaning staff were excellent.
Beautiful hotel in a peaceful setting about 1.5 muiles from Sorrento centre. Coutesy buses run throughout the day between the hotel and town, but i walked it one afternoon abd it took me half an hour. As soeone who is used to buffet meals it was a delight to have waiter service for dinner. Food was excellent. It as extremely hot when I went but all the public rooms were air conditioned. All the staff, espeecially waietrs were friendly and courteous If you want to spend a holiday in Sorrento, i can certanly recommend this hotel.
