Nestled in a prime location, the Grand Hotel Capodimonte is celebrated for its clean rooms with breathtaking sea views and the occasional delightful upgrade, though a few guests mention maintenance and noise concerns. The hotel's service receives high marks for its warm and attentive staff, and the amenities, including picturesque pools, enhance the overall experience.
However, opinions on value are mixed; some find the hotel's prices reasonable for its quality, while others question the cost in relation to the room views and food offered.

The Hotel Capodimonte is an excellent hotel in a great location, within easy walking distance to Sorrento town. We booked a sea view with a balcony, it was very clean spacious and views made the room worth paying the extra. We stayed on a half board package, which allows it to be either dinner or lunch. The breakfasts were very good and the three course dinner and the main restaurant was ok, but if we visited again would book bed and breakfast an eat at one of many restaurants in Sorrento. The hotel staff were very helpful, they booked us a taxi back to the airport at €150. Be careful we took a white taxi (recommended in guide book) from the airport to the hotel and driver tried to charge us €250. The port is a 20-30min walk away and from there you can take various boat trips. A trip by road to Amalfi coast is a must. Overall this is hotel really is amazing and we would not hesitate to recommend

Dear Mr. Paul, Thank you so much for your excellent review and for sharing your experience with us on Trip Advisor. We are really thrilled to read such a positive review, thank you for the kind words you used to describe your sea view room and our hotel. Indeed you are right, our hotel is in an excellent location for excursions, just a short walk and you reach the center of Sorrento, but at the same time it is in a quiet and peaceful area. We really hope to welcome you again for another unforgettable holiday with us. Kindest regards, Customer Relations

The extraordinary strong points of the hotel are the location, thanks to which you can enjoy a panorama of breathtaking beauty, and the staff, who manage it with unique professionalism and helpfulness. All the spaces are very large: the rooms, the bathrooms, the hall, the breakfast room, the poolside bar and everything else are immense and airy. During the stay there were some glitches that should not and cannot be expected from a hotel of this level and so expensive, but the disarming friendliness of the staff made the inconveniences forgotten quite quickly. The rooms and bathrooms would need renovation, but the cleaning dedicated to them offsets the defects

The location of this hotel if you are staying in Sorrento is excellent. Do keep in mind that it is cut into the mountain so there is a bit of a walk to get to the center of the town but it is so beautiful with incredible views that it is well worth it if you are in reasonable condition to walk.
There are some reasonably local areas to buy water or drinks and snacks as well.
There were a couple of imperfections in the room that were easily remedied such as a burnt out lightbulb, a bathroom door that was a little warped so when you closed it it scraped the floor, and a door handle was a little loose. These are really things that at $500 a night should be completely remedied. Also, the cleaning staff is a little inconsistent in terms of time they come to the room or the job they did.
The one thing I will say is that the restaurant was not all that good. We were given a dinner because of a package we purchased and we found the food to be lacking. The breakfast buffet is a nice to have but again we felt the food was mediocre. I would however stay in this hotel again - it is absolutely beautiful and the rooms are very nice.

Wow!! Absolutely highly recommended. On arrival at the entrance, we were greeted by hotel staff and butler to take our luggage directly to reception and then to our rooms. Your first view at the bottom entrance leaves you feeling curious of what the hotel will bring, but I will give anyone 5 minutes to wonder round the reception floor alone and be amazed by the views. This hotel across the board has you in absolute fixation over the multiple areas you can see a stunning view across Sorrento. Staff were all so helpful, professional, friendly and very well presented, making you feel very welcome. Many of the sea view rooms carry a much higher price, so if you are pushed to have a garden view room as we were, then do not worry as the hotel areas will give you all the views you will need and the room will give you a quiet and private area of the hotel. Location is great also, within a 5 minute walk you are at the top of the old town and in 10 minutes you are in the main square of Sorrento. Easy access to day trips, shops, restaurants and much more. Food is also brilliant and the restaurants are very well staffed and and very quick to any of your needs. Once again all the restaurant areas have spectacular views. Swimming pool, fitness gym and Spa 👌🏻

Dear Guest, We are absolutely delighted to receive such a wonderful review! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and your amazing photos! Our heart is filled with joy to know that you had an incredible stay with us and that you loved the room, our courteous and professional staff, the location of the hotel just 10 minutes walk from the center and above all our hotel with its beautiful terraces overlooking the sea. Indeed, our hotel is in an enviable position, built on the side of a mountain and in a quiet but at the same time central area. Furthermore, its position is a bit elevated compared to Sorrento and offers incredible breathtaking views. We really hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you another amazing holiday with us. Kindest regards, Customer relation care

We had a basic room, which was ideal for what we needed. Nice and big, substantial wardrobe, clean and a decent TV. Air Con was a bit weak but was fine for what we needed at the beginning of May. The mini fridge was stocked but incredibly expensive. There's a supermarket 2 minutes walk away so we just stocked up on cheaper stuff and swapped it out. I really appreciated the proper metal roller outside on the balcony as it truly did provide a blackout in the morning and could be controlled from the bed.
We were half board, which we swapped to lunch most days. When we did have dinner, it was a lovely a la carte thing in the restaurant with panoramic views. When swapping to lunch, you change location to the pool restaurant, with equally nice views and probably a more extensive menu! Honestly my favourite meal of the day was always breakfast. It's a buffet with an egg station, but there's something about starting your day overlooking the Bay of Naples with a mimosa and a selection of pastries! The staff always tried to get us a table on the front to have an uninterrupted view and were really professional with their service.
Something that we couldn't quite get used to was ordering drinks at dinner, or with lunch, and not paying there and then. It gets put on your room and it could be a bit of an unpleasant surprise when you check out (as well as the city tax). We just kept track of our drinks as much as we could but it's something to be aware of and I understand why the hotel does this.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. I was concerned that it looked high up and would come with an unpleasant hill from Sorrento. This isn't the case, it's pretty much a perfectly flat 5 minute walk to reach Sorrento and then the hotel has lifts to get up to the high levels. It's about a 20 minute walk to the train station (for Pompeii) but straight down the main street so you can stop and grab a drink along the way in the hotter months. It's about the same to the port for ferries to Capri - and I'd fully recommend going to Villa Communale and utilsing the lifts down rather than struggling with stairs - it's about 2 Euros each for a return.
Overall this was a great hotel, perfect for exploring Sorrento and the general area of Naples. It has fantastic views and fantastic service. My only real issue was that we could've done with more information at the point of check-in. We had to come back to reception a few times to check which restaurants could we go to, what time were they open, what happens at lunch etc. We did get a welcome pack of sorts, but it contained only adverts for excursions rather than any useful hotel information. This issue obviously isn't big enough for me to post anything less than a 5 and we resolved it pretty quickly!

What a great hotel. My wife and I stayed here for 7 nights and couldn't have picked a better hotel. First..the hotel is gorgeous. Situated on a hill overlooking the Bay of Naples, Capodimonte is build into the side of a cliff. Gardens, terraces and cascading pools make the property look like paradise. As for location, you're only about a 5 minute walk to the main area of Sorrento and maybe a 15 minute walk to the port where you can catch a ferry to Capri, Positano, Amalfi...
I can't say enough about the front desk staff. Besides being extremely professional, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. They have all the information you could ask for about things to do and places to eat, (including making dinner reservations) and would always greet you with a smile.
We had an issue with our luggage being delayed and the staff at the front desk help us contact the airline and courier service. I wish I could remember their names ( Sorry I'm terrible with that) but the entire staff deserves praise.
A few things to note. The standard rooms are small. We opted to upgrade to a junior suite which was a large room with a king size bed. It also had a good size terrace with a table and two chairs overlooking the bay. Sitting out on the terrace in the morning with an espresso overlooking Sorrento with Vesuvius in the background. What could be better?
One negative I need to mention is the problem with birds during breakfast in the restaurant. Breakfast is buffet style and is served on a large terrace with a canopy. All the sides are open giving the diner a beautiful view of the bay and mountains. The only problem is pigeons are constantly flying onto the terrace landing on tables and picking at leftover food. I even saw one land on one of the buffet tables. Besides being annoying, it also could crate a health hazard. The wait staff tries their best to shoo away the pests, but the birds are very brazen and come right back. Maybe put up a few fake owls to keep them away, but it got really gross eating your meal and having a bird land on your table.
When we return to Sorrento, we will defiantly pay another visit to the Grand Hotel Capodimonte.

Normally very poor at leaving reviews but so impressed with this hotel and had such a lovely stay just had to rate and recommend. Pool is a highlight, with it's terraces and tucked away little areas it never felt busy or crowded and afforded terrific views of the town, bay and even extending to Gulf of Naples and Vesuvius from the pool. We stayed on the 9th floor room 904 which had a balcony with a breath taking views overlooking the town and bay. Loved the decor with the marble and tiles. Room was immaculately cleaned and turn down service with fresh towels in the evening. Hotel was overall just fabulous never felt busy or crowded (breakfast can get a little busy but we tended to breakfast early). We stayed B&B but having sampled the lovely food at the hotel wish we had gone half board as you can swap evening to lunch. Breakfast had a massive choice even Prosecco with fresh OJ and an omelette station. Lunch was good although service was not what it is at breakfast or dinner waiting 10/15 mins with no menu (so helped myself in the end). Dinner is amazing. We dined twice or 3 times I think. such spectacular views and ambience and our waiter whose name I can't remember now sorry was lovely. The staff are so attentive even sorting out some Bruschetta for my son as he didnt like the look of the starters. The reception staff deserve a shout out as they are so pleasant and professional, cannot do enough to help and really know their stuff. They helped us book 3 amazing trips; Capri Boat Trip, Pompeii and Vesuvius. The town is just a short walk and not really on a hill. We ate out and would recommend the restaurant just a short walk away next to the moped place red checked table cloths. Very good reasonable food and great staff. our other preferred eatery was just on the left of the little square as you walk into town. Love the food here and we had lunch and stopped off for a drink here. It's quieter and nicer than the crowded restaurants in the centre of town. The beach is a little bit of a trek up a hill but there is a lift or you just take your time and enjoy the views. The beach club at the end with the grecian columns is a must. The only thing we didn't like was the price of water at the pool 8 euros a bottle. No tap or drinking water is available only bottled water to order at the bar or from the pool waiter and with the heat wave end of July I really think free and accessible. Other than ants on the balcony cannot fault this hotel and we will definitely return.

Just returned from a week half board at this fabulous hotel, there was a heatwave whilst there, around 33 degrees most days, with humidity it felt like 38, ( according to our weather apps). This must be incredibly difficult to work in, it was difficult for us to just be in! And to wear jackets too! Yikes! I don’t know how they did it. But they did and they still smiled. We’d like to thank the staff for their incredible service with a smile. And the housekeeping was probably the best we’ve ever known, and as you can see from our 100s of reviews we have stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world! Everything was absolutely spotless, thank you so much to all! Our only gripe was that we felt breakfast was a bit unimaginative and we felt utterly bored of it by about day 3. The pigeons flapping around wasn’t great either! Not sure what can be done about that but more covers on the food is definitely required in our opinion. We’d read about the air con not being great and were a little anxious that we’d be too warm in the room but it was absolutely fine, in fact the sheet we’d got on the bed wasn’t enough and we had to get the blanket out ! The air con plus one sheet and a thin blanket was just right for a good sleep. Most other things have been said on the other reviews, about location and swapping half board to lunch etc so I won’t repeat. Thanks to all of the staff for a wonderful holiday 😊👌🏼

We just got back from the Grand Hotel Capodimonte and we miss it already. From the minute I booked our rooms I was extremely satisfied with the responsiveness and the helpfulness of the hotel. I had questions about transfers to and from the hotel and train station and they helped me with all of it. I could have used other companies but knowing the hotel recommended and booked these services for me I felt secure knowing I was using reputable companies. They also helped me book a private boat for the day. Which as great. When we arrived at 9:30 AM, we were surprised to find out our rooms were ready and they upgraded my daughters room from a partial sea view to a full sea view at no charge. Thank you! The hotel itself is beautiful and located in the perfect area. You over look the ocean and Mt. Vesuvius as well as the hills and city of Sorrento. I don't know if there is a hotel with a better view. It is a very easy and quick walk to everything. The grounds have so many beautiful places to relax with beautiful views all around you. The pools were beautiful (although very cold :)). The pool area can fill up quickly but people come and go and there are plenty of places to enjoy the sun and views. We did have dinner in one of the dining rooms one night and I thought the food and selection was decent but nothing special but maybe it was a bad night! I would highly recommend this hotel for the views and location alone but having the added benefits of the concierge services and front desk employees who are so helpful makes this perfect place to stay.. I would go back in a heartbeat. We left a piece of our hearts in Sorrento. Thank you Hotel Capodimonte this was one of our best vacations ever!

I felt compelled to write a review having read some frankly insane negative reviews here which all seem to be attributed to booking through third parties or totally rogue reasons such as the busy staff not entertaining attempts to get free Italian lessons from them.
This hotel is stunning, we have stayed three times and will stay again this year for our most important stay yet - our wedding held at the hotel. The staff are amazing and have bent over backwards every time we've stayed no matter the request, whether we have been in the cheapest or the most expensive room. The food and drink is more expensive than some other places sure, but the location, service and quality makes up for it - a reminder for negative reviewers that Sorrento town is 5 mins walk away and there is no obligation to eat at the hotel.
The pools are so beautiful, and the wildlife of the surrounding areas is such an added bonus. Trust the beauty of the photos if you're thinking of booking here, it's one of the only places I've been to in the world that is truly even better in real life.

The hotel is approx 2km (1.3 miles) from the train station.
I booked an excursion to Capri through the hotel to Capri and that was reasoanbly priced and well organised. You will find a selection of excursions available at the hotel. The only disappointment was with Capri itself, nothig to do with the hotel.
There are more places to choose from in the Sorrento area.
