Grand Hotel Aminta emerges as a beacon of cleanliness, with numerous guests lauding the immaculate conditions of both rooms and facilities. While some guests have noted that the rooms could benefit from modernization and feel a bit tight, the comfort of the beds and the mesmerizing views have consistently won approval. Opinions are divided on the hotel's value, as some find the costs outweighed by the stunning vistas and delectable cuisine, despite pricey extras.
The hotel's personnel receive accolades for their warm and efficient service, including a much-appreciated shuttle service. The overall atmosphere exudes a traditional charm, enhanced by the pristine pool and the awe-inspiring views which together ensure a stay that's both comfortable and memorable. However, the hotel's remote location might pose a slight inconvenience for dining out, encouraging guests to plan for transportation into town.

My husband and I spent a week at this wonderful hotel. The views are spectacular and take your breath away day and night. You will not get the same panoramic views staying in town. We were unsure about staying away from the buzz of Sorrento but we found the complimentary bus easy to use and always used it to return to the hotel. Taxis are expensive. They generally run hourly but there a couple of gaps in the timetable. Personally I think a 10:30pm bus would be useful, the 11:30pm is the last bus: There is a lovely walk down to the town which is very manageable and incorporates those fantastic views again. It only takes 20 mins. (Just be mindful that a few scooters also use the paved track down ) it’s visible on google maps
We had a balcony room with a sea and sunset view on the third floor, we got to see some fab sunsets however we didn’t really use the balcony to sit out on much; it just felt a bit high for me. Our room was comfortable, spotlessly clean and kept that way with a change of towels everyday. All amenities were topped up regularly.
Breakfast was enjoyable with a plate of pastries, bread , fruit juices, fruit platter, coffee and tea. A cooked menu is available including eggs, bacon etc. We had dinner there once which was good but was inside the restaurant, we much preferred the lunch menu and eating outside again so that we could enjoy those spectacular views. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I cannot find fault in them in any way, from the cleaners to the pool guy.
The drinks at the hotel were a bit pricey, which we expected so we generally went down to Sorrento where we could get better value for our money and where the cocktails were a little bit stronger.
We had great days by the pool, again the cleanliness shone out, the sun beds were sterilised after use; clean towels available, and the pool was cleaned regularly by the fabulous pool guy, who showed a great desire to make sure you were happy, if the pool guy was busy than the bar guy quickly stepped into his shoes without any fuss (apologies for not knowing their names)
We will definitely return to this hotel and also Sorrento, which has a great vibe with many restaurants, bars and excursions to experience.
In these unprecedented times, it was such a pleasure to go somewhere where we could relax knowing that the staff had your well being in mind. The views, the cleanliness and welcoming staff were outstanding

I'm considerably late with this review!
We spent an enchanting fortnight here in August following our wedding, the staff were all wonderful.
The gentleman who works in the pool area is truly a gem and helped me practice my some what laughable Italian language skills. I think there is always some grumbling about towel reservations on any poolside area regardless of the country or hotel but I have to say, he always found you somewhere! We paid to reserve beds on a couple of days when we were worn out from sightseeing and knew we would make good use of them! It did seem a shame when people paid to reserve beds and didn't use them all day until around 4pm.
All the reception staff were fabulous, a particular mention should go to one lady (I'm so sorry I can't remember your name) whose mother is originally from England and who married her Italian father and settled in Sorrento, firstly what a wonderful origin story, like something out of a novel! and secondly this individual is a seriously fantastic staff member and is a genuine credit to the hotel.
The team didn't even blink an eye when I asked for 30 stamps to send postcards to our wedding guests, they even tootled into town to purchase them on my behalf which really was above and beyond.
Shuttle bus was fab - again really friendly driver and for one week we hired a small convertible fiat 500 which was an AMAZING way to travel and explore the Amalfi coast. The team helped us with finding an appropriate car parking space each day (this is really limited hence why they recommend you go for a small vehicle.)
The room and balcony was lovely - we even have a nighttime photograph of Sorrento taken from our balcony in our home, to remember such a magical honeymoon.
The only reason I'm not giving the hotel 5 out of 5 is simply because we weren't as impressed with the food what was included. The breakfast was fab but the evening meals were incredibly repetitive and I really felt for some of the families, I used to be a fussy eater as a child and I could see a few children each night and the only thing they could have was pasta in tomato sauce, there just weren't any other options that weren't really decadent and fancy ha! So I wouldn't really say that the evening meals are family friendly.
We preferred the outdoor restaurant which you paid for and this food was incredible, just a shame it's not included in the price. Oh and a special shout out to the pizza available from the bar snack menu (again you pay for this) during lunch - it was beautiful!
That being said you are in Italy, the home of great food so there are plenty of fantastic places to grab a bite.
Also my Husband and I really enjoyed exploring the local area by foot when we didn't have the car, if you are relatively fit then the walk to and from Sorrento to the hotel etc, through the winding alley ways is actually a really enjoyable experience. Just take your time and avoid doing it in the mid day heat.
There's not much more to say except Grazie and Ciao! x

Loved this hotel. It's position above Sorrento amongst the olive groves and the unbelievable scenic view over Sorrento and the bay of Naples were worth the visit alone.
From check in to leaving and all points in between the hygiene standards and Covid procedures were excellent.
All the staff from reception, to restaurant, to room maids, to bar, to the guys looking after the pool were without exception brilliant. They were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful at all times.
The meals, breakfast and evening, were served at the table and chosen from the menu. The evening meal had a choice of seven starters, six mains and two sweets on the trolley plus cheese or ice cream. Every meal was excellent and accompanied for us by wine from a very extensive wine list.
The bar snacks and lunch time offerings were also excellent.
The rooms were spacious with very comfortable beds and provided with fresh towels etc every day.
The pool, which was set on the sun terrace, had plenty of beds which were well spaced for covid regulations and always sanitised when someone left and before the next occupant. Towels were provided by the pool attendants when you chose a bed. The pool guy also kept the pool area immaculate at all times.
Finally the shuttle bus running from 0900 to 2330 was excellent. Of course it is also possible to walk down the scenic path to town which is about 1.5km.
I can safely say on any return to Sorrento this is the hotel I would choose.
Thanks again to all the staff who contributed to our stay in Sorrento.

Like most people, we were nervous about our first trip overseas but the Aminta was amazing. On arrival, our cases were taking and sterilised. Receptions is very well organised with sterilised keys, pointers for pressing the lift buttons, steriliser throughout the hotel, and strict rules around lift use. Our interaction with the staff throughout was amazing. Everyone had masks and kept a respectable distanced. Table spacing within the bars and restaurants was perfect, as well as sun loungers. Seat and loungers are continuously being sterilised in between use!
The frequent shuttle bus to Sorrento centre was really helpful, again masks were warned every time.
Food and drink within the hotel are of a really high standard. Breakfast selection is perfect and we ate lunch and dinner a number of times. Great cocktails too!
The rooms and beds are perfect for families, with adjoining rooms available with two bathrooms. Incredible views over Sorrento and Mount Vesuvius.

After spending 5 days at this hotel I only have positive things to say. All the staff from those working in reception, to the waiters and shuttle drivers were absolutely fantastic. They answered all our questions, were super friendly and gave us amazing recommendations for things to do during our trip!
The room was as expected, make sure you book the jacuzzi around sunset since that is a lovely experience. The breakfast and dinner was delicious and plentiful. When we arrived they followed all the relevant regulations to keep everyone safe from Covid-19 through disinfecting our luggages, temperature checks and frequent cleaning and all the members of staff wore masks which was reassuring and we felt 100% safe.
The hotel has a superb view of the Sorrentine peninsula and a free shuttle service which takes you into the old town every hour! Thank you for a wonderful stay - 5/5 stars.

Stayed here from the 13th of September 2020 for a week and it was fantastic. Suitcases were disinfected when we got off the bus. We were upgraded to a sunset view room which the view over Sorrento was amazing. The bed was massive didn't even know my wife was in bed with me🤣. We payed extra for the evening meals
and were glad we did. The meals were delicious and the service was excellent. The pool area was very good and towel guy looked after everyone with clean towels every morning. He also disinfected the beds in the evening. The beer prices were average for the Sorrento area around 6€ a pint. The receptionists were very helpful and friendly. The free service bus was a godsend as the taxi to Sorrento was around 20€ to 25€ one way. He even took us to the train station on the last day so we could catch the train to Naples. The waiter service was spot on. We visited Capri, Positano, Amalfi, Pompeii, Revello all of them easily accessible by public transport. If your looking for some cheap drinks in Sorrento go to the kiosk bar its only 3.50€ for large bottle of beer and 7€ for a cocktail. We never ate in Sorrento so we can't comment on the meals. Overall a very nice stay in the Grand Aminta Hotel. Felt very safe concerning COVID19 and would definitely stay here again.

You might be forgiven for thinking you had travelled back in time to the 80s in this very nice hotel. Wicker dining chairs, table cloths and staff uniforms (like that of Manuel) give the impression the hotel is a bit dated. BUT, Faulty Towers the Grand Aminta is not!
The hotel is immaculate throughout, rooms are served daily, extremely welcoming staff attend to anything you should need and the terrace and pool areas are quite stunning. The vibe is very chilled, laid back and relaxed. A mix of Europeans, mostly British people (at the date we stayed) travel here.
Facilities include use of a jacuzzi, pre-booking is required and towels are provided daily for both Jacuzzi and pool areas. The room we had was standard with no balcony but we didn't mind as not much time was spent in the room. It was exceptionally clean although we may have enjoyed tea/coffee to be available which it was not although a mini bar is well stocked. Breakfast is well laid out and varied daily and a good choice is provided. We ate dinner on one evening that was exceptional, compliments to the chef! Food/ drinks in the hotel are slightly more expensive than in town which is to be expected.
The hotel has a regular shuttle bus back and forth to the town centre which is very handy and when we travelled, a face mask was required for the bus. Only a ten minute journey and the bus runs until 11.30pm but beware should you miss the last bus, expect to pay around 25 Euros for a taxi. You can walk to town but it is a steep incline and not for anyone with mobility issues as roads etc are cobbled and I really would not recommend if dark.
I would place the Grand Aminta at the top end of its 4 star rating because the service is really exceptional and it genuinely is a very good hotel. I for one would return here to stay and I would 100% recommend. Wonderful service from staff, relaxing atmosphere and incredible views. Top top marks!!!

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Aminta for 3 nights in February 2020 as two couples from Canada.
This is a very nice hotel with an exceptional position and view over Sorrento.
Our room was very clean as were the washroom and towels, sheets, etc...
We were upgraded to a room with a small balcony and great view over the town with the mountains and Vesuvius in the background. The hotel Bar is very nice also with a spectacular view. Breakfast was perfect with a selection of cereals, yogurt, pastries, fruit, cheese and sliced meat, fresh squeezed juice, eggs, bacon, etc...
Tea and coffee were brought to our table before you ever needed to ask and one could request specialty coffees if needed. Other reviewers mentioned the breakfast being small and simple. We were very happy with the selection and service.
The front desk staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English.
There is a path directly across the street from the hotel which one can walk to the main shopping street in 15 minutes. The walk back up is around 20-25 minutes but that helps you wear off the wonderful meal and wine you just had in town. There is also a courtesy van taking you to and from the center of town on an hourly basis which we used as well. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant as we wanted to walk around the town, however, we noticed it was very well rated.
I would highly recommend staying Grand Hotel Aminta.

The hotel did not disappoint from check-in til check-out. Our welcome at reception was lovely, our room was spacious and spotless with a very comfortable bed. The free shuttle bus to the center of Sorrento was a fantastic bonus, and the public bus to Amalfi stopped outside the door. The breakfast was delicious, and dinner was very reasonably priced, excellent quality and fabulously presented. The manager of the restaurant was the most charming man who remembered our preferences when we reappeared on the second day. On the whole, the hotel made us feel extremely welcome and valued. If we return to Sorrento we will certainly return to the Grand Hotel Amnita. Thank you to all of the staff there for making our stay so wonderful.

The food in the hotel was incredible & we looked forward to the many different courses each night which in the whole 2 weeks we were there were never repeated.
The staff are a true credit to this wonderful hotel & great knowledge & recommendations on the wine too.
The free hotel shuttle in to town is fantastic and so punctual and runs on a regular basis.

My room was old fashioned bath / shower. The pool has gradual steps at one end which I think would be ok for an elderly person..
No I don't believe they do although I wasn't staying in that part of the hotel but I did walk through the garden there and I don't recall any but I only saw one side of that building

No, it’s only open in the summer months
As you might guess the sunrise rooms are on the opposite side to the sunset rooms. So by definition a sunrise room and sunset room cannot be very close. The question to ask is will you be awake to see the sunrise? I just checked - sunrise on May 1 in Sorrento is at 06:03 gets earlier through the month and sunset on May 31 is at 05:36. Dawn is about 30 minutes earlier. By comparison dusk is about 8:30pm. So it's much easier to see a sunset that a sunrise.
We stayed in a sunset room in early September and had some great sunsets but nothing is guaranteed. In September sunset was over the sea, another bonus.
Hope this helps.
