Detailed Reviews
Our recent trip to the area included a six-day stop in Sorrento, and Maison Tofani offered an ideal place to stay. Located in the heart of the city and close to shops and restaurants (not to mention a short walk to the train station), this charming hotel was outstanding for an off-season visit to the area. Our previous trips to the area in the high-season included hotels outside of the city. The proximity of Maison Tofani to everything Sorrento has to offer, however, allowed us to explore the town without the worry of a long journey "home" if shops were closed for the winter.
The staff was remarkable, offering wonderful service during our stay. I am embarrassed to say that I do not recall the names of all who served, but there was not a single staff member disappointed us. The hotel restaurant (in its own building atop a fascinating mosaic just across the via) offered a delicious repast of Italian dishes.
The only issue we had was the flight up the stairs to the elevator. Having recently endured a fall which resulted in a shattered heel and a painful reconstructive surgery, I found climbing the first flight somewhat discomfortable.

We spent New Year in Sorrento and stayed at the wonderful Maison Tofani.
In a central location yet tucked away in a typical Italian courtyard, a beautiful and elegant hotel.
You will receive a very warm welcome from the hotel staff; very courteous and fantastic service.
Our room was a loft room which was very comfortable and well presented and we loved the sky light as it provided some excellent views of the stars at night.
Breakfast was amazing, so much to choose from and delicious; the pastries were particularly tasty with the rich Italian coffee. The breakfast room and small lounge area again are very elegant and beautifully presented.
We highly recommend a stay at Maison Tofani; you will not be disappointed.

An amazing boutique hotel. Fantastic staff, clean, large room with a juliet balcony overlooking the historic centre streets. Private rooftop area. Breakfast is served in the most beautiful room with freshly baked cakes. I cannot recomend this hotel enough, Sorrento is a magical town and Maison Toufani is the perfect place to stay and explore from.

The hotel itself is beautiful “old Italy”, with the rooms being a refuge of comfort after staying at another accommodation locally. Gorgeous traditional center courtyard, in addition to a lovely rooftop to watch the colorful sunset skies over the city.
The breakfast selection was extraordinary and served in a luxurious dining area.
The service was outstanding in every respect, including making accommodation for unexpected pain after extensive walking and sightseeing.
Also, even though our room windows opened up to one of the local streets with shops and vendors below, the windows were well insulated so we could sleep well.
Happily, the location was well away from the main thoroughfare, where the sound of motorcycles can begin to grate on one’s nerves.
Fabulous accommodation.

We stayed at Masion Tofani during our honeymoon trip.
All of the reception staff were lovely, accommodating us as we were early and keeping our bags while the room was set up. The staff also placed our bags in the room for us.
The hotel itself is beautiful. The roof area is lovely and gets lots of sun. The room that breakfast is held in is stunning. The breakfast offered (only €5 if not included in room price) is very extensive. There are pastries, hams, meats, pancakes, juices and an assortment of fruits.
When we arrived in our room, we noticed that there were quite a few hairs on the floor, bath, dirt on the floor and a stained towel. We left our bags and went to explore Sorrento. Before leaving I shared my concerns with the receptionist, who stated they would ask for the room to be cleaned again.
When we came back to the room, it did not appear to have been cleaned. We had to wipe the floor with some face wipes.
The room itself was lovely. The mattress and pillows were very soft. The shower was a little tight, but there was also a bath. The bathroom suite is a little dated and could use a refresh. Also, a little note that the hotel does not offer an iron, only their laundry service which has a 24 hour turnaround time.
In the morning, after the room has been reset, the floor was still dirty. We informed the receptionist, who called the cleaner. When we returned the floor has been cleaned, but the bath was still dirty.
The hotel is centrally located, walking distance from Sorrento train station.

Have stayed once before in 2015 so was looking forward to coming back. It is an extremely elegant hotel and the lounge room, and in particular the breakfast room, are stunning. Staff were lovely, breakfast was excellent, bedroom was lovely, very comfy bed, my only suggestion for improvement was in the bathroom (room 204). In general it needs a refresh, the grouting around the sink was crumbling and around the bath/shower needed a deep clean, the sink is showing its age. The ‘Jacuzzi’ shower is also somewhat dated and left a bit to be desired, and the bath was high to climb into but a grab rail was provided.
Would definitely recommend.

the breakfast experience in the morning is fit for a king, sets the tone for lovely sorrento experience, their bakes especially are of stellar quality. the room was a bit extra warm and heating is centrally regulated. opening the window meant inviting noise inside....bathroom, toiletries, room size and furnishings are all lovely and makes this maison a luxury experience, the vibe on the 1st floor is great and Rita Tofani was most helpful.

Beautiful hotel in the centre of Sorrento. We had a lovely bedroom which was very quiet in spite of looking out on to one of the main shopping streets. The room had a very comfortable bed with high quality bed linen.
Excellent service from every member of staff from reception to breakfast service and housekeeping. The breakfast is very good with a good range and served in an elegant dining room with a beautifully painted ceiling. We had a problem with our shower and this was promptly addressed by the staff.
There is a bar which we used with a good range of drinks although I don’t know if it is open after the staff finish at 9 pm.
There is also a lovely roof terrace with comfortable furniture and wonderful views of the bay of Naples and Vesuvius.
I have only one thing that I would suggest for improvement. The standard coffee was very weak. I asked for a double espresso on the second morning and it was delicious.

My husband and I stayed at Maison Tofani during our honeymoon in August 2022. We had a great time, and the hotel is located very centrally, making it very easy to walk to wherever we wanted to go. They were also able to accommodate our late night check in, as our flight landed close to midnight. The breakfast spread is pretty good and dining room is beautiful. The room (we stayed in the Loft) was clean and had a nice view over Sorrento, however bathroom was a little on the smaller side, and my husband (who is tall) would tend to bump his head on the ceiling at some parts due to the loft structure. Overall, we had a great stay and we would like to thank the staff, who were friendly, very prompt in replying our queries, and even helped to arrange for transfers for us to and from the airport and train station!

The hotel is in a great location in the middle of shops, restaurants and lots of gelato. It is also an easy walk to the marina and other locations for day trips. The staff was super helpful, friendly and accommodating. The room was perfect for two people with a larger bathroom then used to. The small touches of breakfast available in the morning and quaint vibe of the place made it the perfect stay. Definitely would recommend.

If you are able and fit the walk is approx. 20/25 mins to the Marina Piccolo.
There is a lift down for a charge of a few euros, near the main Town Hall - this is not always in operation.
The alternative route is down some steep steps and along the road at the bottom, located off the Piazza Tasso.
As 'fifty-somethings' we did this........down and back up; but it's not for the faint hearted, so a taxi might be the other option.
We caught the ferry over to Capri, so it was well worth it! :)
When we did it, it was 95 euros to/from the airport. In my opinion, it is well worth it as it can easily be 90 minutes long due to traffic. On another occasion, it cost us 90 euros to get to the train station. So it is more convenient to get the transfer from the airport. Our flight was late but they waited for us.
Take campania express from Naples station lower level straight to sorrento. then the hotel will send a car for you and the have a bell hop meet you and take you to the hotel, there is no parking at the hotel, it is on a pedestrian street only. or you can walk from the train station,a bout 15 min.
Yes, absolutely.
